largest in the world.
• It is located in the state of
New York, in the East coast
of the USA.
• The city has five boroughs:
Manhattan, Brooklyn, the
Bronx, Queens and Staten
Island.

• The USA is in North America.
• It is the most populated country in
the Americas, with 318 million
inhabitants.
• English is not the official language
but it is the language spoken in
official affairs. However some
minorities speak other languages,
native (Navajo…) or foreign
(Spanish, Chinese, Italian…)
• It is a republic and it has a
President, elected every four
years. The current president is
Barack Obama.

• It has 8.5 million inhabitants (more than Chicago and
Los Angeles together)
• There are many different races:
– 44% white
– 25.5% black
– 0.7% Native American
– 12,7% Asian.
• There are many different religions as 37% of the city’s
population is foreign born and many others are from
other parts of the country.
• It is probably one of the richest cities in the USA and
many companies have their headquarters there.

• New York has many interesting museums and
monuments:
– The Statue of Liberty
– Wall Street, with the NY Stock Exchange
– The Brooklyn Bridge
– The New York City Hall, the oldest in the USA
– The Metropolitan Museum

• As in the rest of the USA, American football,
baseball and basketball are the most popular
sports. These are famous teams from New
York

• It would be a good idea to go for a walk in
Central park, skate in the Rockefeller center
skating ring, visit the top of a skyscraper and
take some pictures from there or visit one of
the museums.

• New York is home to the UN building and it
became sadly famous for the 11th September
2001 terrorist attacks.
