Teacher as a change agent and national builder
Agent of change
Agent of change or change agent is someone who is able to
change anotherperson using various techniquesand
method.Teaches have the ability to make someone else a
betterperson. There are two categories of change,
quantitative and qualitative change. Quantitative change is
a change that is measurable, such a persons age, size, and
test scores. Whereas qualitative change involves quality
such as personnel gained through education and
interactionswith others and changes in likes and dislikes,
interest and relations with others. access to an education
system in which peopleattend schoolsor enrol in education
courses, would be more or less meaning less if thy fail to
learn. And if there is no change occurring. Conversely, it is
more or less limited, if a school or education system is said
to be high achieving, if its recruitment is on a selective
basis, which fails to reflect the diverse composition of its
populationit is supposed to be serving.
Change is something all societies have to
deal with. Teachers often resist change mandated or
suggested by others but they do engage in change that they
initiate. This is called voluntary change. Changes of the
mindsets of a whole society must involve all citizens. In
order to bring about change, there must be the thought
leaders whole refine and redefine, elaboratemeanings and
necessity of the desired changes. All society have their own
vies , beliefs, attitude, expectations, conceptand norms.
Schoolingand success of schoolingis the best vehicle to
challenge the mindsets to and reform, thus setting new
values and projecting the desired attitudetowards accepting
change and adapting to them so as to able to compete the
new era.
Attitude of teacher
1.Positive minded – thinks about good thinks and
opportunities.
2.Caring – cares about the welfare of students.
3.Patient – knows that good things takes time.
4.Passionate – do their work with full responsibility.
Teacher make changes through his/her word, thoughtsand
actions.
Teacher thoughts
1.A teacher should thought of their students: their
emotions, their work burden, their feeling.
2.A teacher should always think of what improvements can
he/she to bring to help their students.
3.A teacher should always think of good things about their
students.
Teacher words
1.Inspiring
2.Teacher always provide comments and criticism always
be careful about their word won’t hurt the students.
3.Sensitive issues must avoided at all cost (family,
religion, race etc).
Teacher action
1.Should hold on the saying “leadership through actions” and
“action speaks louderthan words”.
2.Should work on being leader than a boss.
3.Give instruction,not orders.
4.Show good behaviour and attitude.
Teachers play very important part in the early upbringing of a
child and their ideas and beliefs can change the thought patterns
of each children. Classroom is the place where studentsfrom
different places and culturesit together underone roof. The arise
a lot of problems, so a teachercan solve the problems through
counsellingand otherprocesses. Without doubt,teachers of
quality will be the best agents of change.
National builder
Teachers are the national builders of our country, they
are the providers of knowledge and wisdom. They are the basis
source of education for most of the peopleof the countryand
they are ones who build the future of the nation. They have the
ability and strength to fight the odds and make the country
powerful. A nation is built by citizens, citizens are moulded b
teachers. Chanakya states that “teachers is the maker of nation”.
Teachers through their perseverance love and sacrifices have
shown us the right path in which great men built the nation.
teacher mould the characterof a student, personalityand show
the right path to lead to the final destination.During the early
education the studentstend to determine their aim in life and
their future plans, in the consultation with their teacher.
Teaching as a profession is probablythe most challenging
because it combine all the otherprofessions in order to help a
child grow. The teachers are selflessly and courageously chosen
the path where they will always be working for the mankind and
for its good. The leaders of today are getting the leaders of
tomorrow.
The role of a teacherat multi-faceted comprising academic,
pedagogical, social roles. The academic roles comprises
teaching, counsellingand supervisory roles, while pedagogical
roles includesinstructional, evaluation and facilitating roles.
Facilitating means teacher is motivating the pupil to learn,
maintaining control in the classroom and the school in general,
and creating the conclusive environment for learning to take
place. Social roles of a teacher includesamong the other
socializing roles which is preparing pupils to participate in the
way of life of the society; others includereference roles,
detective roles, parent surrogate, confidants and affectionate
roles.
No otherpersonalitycan have an influence more
profound than that of a teacher. Studentsare deeply affected by
teachers love, affection, his character, competence, and his moal
commitment. A popularteacherbecome moral foe his students.
The studentstry to follow their teacher in his manner, customs,
etiquette, style of conversation, and his getup. He/she is their
ideal. He/ she can lead them anywhere. Therefore a corrupt and
decadent class of teachers can harm a nation more seriously than
a class of corrupt and judiciary, army, police, judiciary,
bureaucracy, politicians,. A corrupt and incompetent teacheris
not only a bad individual, but also the harbinger of a corrupt ang
incompetent generation. A nation with corrupt teachers is the
nation at risk. Teacher play a cardinal role in the building up of
the character of the next generation. The development of a
country, great attentionhas to be paid to education and learning
as well as good morals, nobodyis more suited to this process
than a humble teacher. So without ant doubt teachers are the
national buildersand change agents.
