3. Visit—Physical public spaces
Children wrote letters and visited a public space post office to post letters and
witness its functioning.
A visit to the market place a physical public space gave them an opportunity to
experience the functioning of a bank and also the various shops and stores
around in the market in reality .
4. Mr. and Mrs. Sapra, Nuqksh’s parents visited to conduct an interactive
session on community helpers. They shared the roles and responsibilities of
community helpers and the children guessed the befitting community helper
as per the descriptors.

5. Maira’s mother, Mrs. Manju Singhal, an advocate, visited children and shared
the function, connection and responsibility of lawyers, a community helper, in
the community/society.

6. Virtual Public Spaces
Children virtually interviewed

army personnel by profession,
posted out of country. Children
asked about his role and also got
to tour his office and the scenic
place where he is posted.

and its functioning helped the
children connect between physical
hotel and a virtual hotel.
Hospital in a 3dimensional view was ex-
perienced by children. They saw the dif-
ferent places and rooms that a hospital
has and how they function.
7. Virtual Public Space
The various online options available were explored by children and then
stationery of their choice was ordered from an online store. Children got to
connect how virtual world assist us make our life easy and they also
understood that things can be ordered and delivered not only at home but at
school if need be.

8. Formative Assessment
Children chose a community helper of their own choice and interviewed them
about their roles and responsibilities in the community and their
interconnectedness. They then shared their finding with their classmates.
They were assessed on the criteria matrix of understanding of function of
community helpers, application of research (interview) skills and presentation
(clarity, confidence).
9. Children were divided in groups and each group was given a situation in a specific
public place and they role played how they would react or behave in that public
place in the given situation.
They were assessed on the criteria matrix of presence of mind in that situation
appropriateness of the action taken, organisational skills and teamwork.
Formative Assessment
10. In groups children created ideal communities of their own using artifacts, waste
materials and tools used by the community helpers. They labeled the
physical as well as virtual public spaces in the community created by them. They
then presented the ideal communities respectively to their peers and shared their
understanding of an ideal community and its contribution.
They were assessed on the criteria matrix of understanding, creativity
(Illustration), presentation and teamwork.

11. Inquiry in Language — English
