About me
DHL
← Been intimately involved in in SQL database (DB2,MS SQL, TSQL, Oracle) development, report writing(MS SSRS,
SSIS,SSAS, Tableau). Also involved with customer responsive database interrogation resulting in developing various
reporting exceptions. I have enhanced this entire process by means of SSIS and SSAS, cubes reporting either of
excel or whichever other formats that our various clients prefers. Most processes are either RADs or project
orientated based on the RAD requirement.
← Since DHL is using legacy systems I created an ETL process from a DB2 into MS SQL database using SSIS
package. This gave us the ability to draw business intelligence reporting across SSA (Sub Saharan Africa). I
developed reports in SSRS and Tableau. This also gave me the ability to put South African IT on the global map. I
have created SSA KPI reports which are now in demo mode for the global team. I have been in consultations with
DHL global consultants, now the project will be rolled out throughout DHL Global Forwarding.
← In my present position I have been proactive by assisting fellow colleagues beyond my duly designated role by project
leading a team of report writers into SSA (Sub Saharan Africa) reporting for our global head office based in Bonn.
This process requires an extreme analytical over view of the companies’ processes which needs to be manipulated
and computed to requirements for the ever changing business. Taking on this position enabled the company to
recognize me as a project orientated team leader thus allowing me to successfully complete the Six Sigma bronze
masters.
← I am always eager to learn new technologies and methods relevant to my professional career. I enjoy been an integral
member of any such team where by in which I can contribute towards the well been of all concerned. However so I
am reliable and trustworthy working independently and meeting any objectives or projects set forth by my superiors
Accenture
• Created new distribution method called carton loting. This new method saved Edcon 5 million rand per warehouse.
Carton loting was used to distribute break bulk stock such as packs of garments that are packed by suppliers in a
constant quantity or large appliances such as microwaves.
I have held JAD sessions with warehousing stakeholders. Developed the analysis system for units per man needed
throughout the warehouse using Oracle packages via TOAD and scheduled daily runs via XENA task scheduler. I
have also provided training for management staff on how to use these reports. I had development the systems
boundaries using MS Visio, Captured the business requirements, Test packs and training documentation in
Accenture’s SDLC project management tools. Created flat file interfaces between Warehouse system (Nautilus) and
ERP (RETEK) system using Oracle packages.
• Standardised tracking, claims, retail and distribution system to produce a standard method for paying suppliers and
carriers. Standardised Carrier statements to include payments and claims (lost in transit).
1
2. The tracking and claims system was developed using dot net.
Within this project I have held JAD sessions with relevant stakeholders, redesigned the Oracle database to cater for
the actual statements sent out to the carriers (3rd
party transporters). Used MS Visio to map out the functional flow to
demonstrate how the process works. I also had used MS Visio to show the boundaries and financial transactions for
the development team. This project that I have developed at Accenture is now been used in other clients of
Accenture. I have also developed the internal reporting using Oracle packages in TOAD. I have created the
schedules using XENA task scheduler which runs tasks that are created in Unix shell scripts. Also held training
sessions for tracking and finance team demonstrating how to use the system. This project was based on an object
orientated designs interfacing with one sub system and the financial system. Created flat file interfaces between
Warehouse system (Nautilus) to Tracking and claims system to ERP (RETEK) and financial (Oracle Financials)
system using Oracle packages
• Standardise supplier integrity by measuring supplier orders placed in quantity, quality and if the supplier has delivered
the correct product. This was used to reduce to retail price when buying from the same suppliers again or penalising
the supplier for any shortcomings. This also alerted the buyers on the retail system to negotiate with suppliers for
better retail prices.
Developed Oracle Packages via TOAD to extract the Data Integrity analysis. Daily schedules of reporting via XENA
task scheduler. Held training sessions with Warehouse staff on how to use the system.
• Work closely with 3rd
party company to standardise import and export documentation. I worked closely with SARS to
standardise documentation and to get HT tariff codes. We had to enhance the retail, distribution, and financial
systems to accommodate all these changes.
Held JAD sessions with SARS and 3rd
party company “ETradex” created the Functional flow using MS Visio and the
Business requirements documentation.
• Within the New International Brands Project we had to source out new scanners that decode QR barcodes as well as
our current supplier’s barcodes. We had to make effective changes to the distribution system in line with how these
products have been packed to minimise handling and distribution cost.
