Question 6
1. Question 6: What have you
learnt about technologies
from the process of
constructing this product?
2. O By completing this coursework, I have had to use a variety of
new technologies and programmes such as:
Photoshop is the main software that I have
used to edit my photos and create ideas fro
my masthead. I am confident with
Photoshop now and have learnt how to use
the different tools and techniques as we go
along.
I come across Survey Monkey when
doing market research for my
magazine to try and determine the
right price, genre and target audience
my magazine would be best for. I then
collected the report and percentages
of the results from participants and
used the average in my magazine.
3. By joining Slide Share I can upload my
work and update it as I go along before
putting it on my blog. It is also an easy way
in which to out put and collect the feedback
and information if it is useful.
Blogger since the start of September and now
know how to do things such as set up a blog,
create a new blog post, insert pictures and
videos or create links to add to the page. These
Software's are not only more professional than
Paint or Microsoft publisher but also offer a
wider amount of tools and effects to edit each
image.
4. As well as that, I have used google search and
YouTube within my research to look at music
magazines as well as the type of genre my
magazine is based on. This has helped me
base
my colour scheme, images and overall text on
the
different types of people who view similar
magazines to my genre such as the NME.
By using Facebook to set up a private
focus
group analysis as feedback for my blog, I
was
able to change anything that the target
audience didn’t feel fit in with the
magazine or thought that it was missing
any information such as extra cover lines
or more images that needed to be added.
5. The Nikon camera was also used to take
the images for the magazine and the
aperture is the hole at the front of the lens
through which light enters. The smaller it
is results in an increased depth of field
which give me more of a variety on how to
set out my image and be able to plan it for
each different page.
To transfer the images to the computer, an
SD (Secure Digital) card stored the image data
from the camera and had to be used with a USB
Card reader to copy the data on to the computer
ready to manipulate to use on either my Front Cover,
Contents Page or Double Page Spread.
6. When taking the photos, we used soft boxes to diffuse the
amount
of light produced by the strobe lights which creates a soft and
rounded exposure. Finally, a white backdrop was put up to
make is easier to edit the image later on using Photoshop and
will let us use the image as it is if needed for the contents page
as if it was a real photoshoot for the band/artist.
