• COMMUNITY AID AND SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM was established in 1976
by Dr S D Gokhale in Mumbai. The stimulus for this came from a group of
parents who were affected by leprosy and thus shunned due to their
deformities. Unfortunately their children were also shunned and were not
allowed to attend school. If at all they did, the children were made to sit
apart from the other children. Not being able to bear this stigmatization of
their children the parents requested Dr Gokhale to institutionalize the
children where they would be safe from discrimination.
Dr Gokhale being a social scientist, understood the importance of a family.
He was firmly opposed to institutionalizing children and promised the
parents that he would ensure that the children would be educated even as
they stayed with their parents. In order to do this he commenced to identify
donors who would be willing to ‘sponsor’ the education of children. This
necessitated the establishment of an organization and thus CASP was
registered on 19thOct 1976.
The project gathered pace when Foster Parent
International an American NGO agreed to
partner with CASP for the sponsorship
program in 1979.
Numerous other organizations including AC
International Child Support Denmark, Terre
des Homme Denmark, Children above All
Sweden and Enfant du Monde France and
Enfant du Monde Belgium are among the
organizations that commenced partnering
with CASP.
Over a period of time the organization grew
and units were established in Pune, Delhi, Pen
(Dist. Raigad), and in Kutch after the
devastating earthquake in
2001.

OUR APPROACH
• Education: We realize that education is the foundation that helps children take their
position in the globalized world. We provide sponsorship to under privileged children to
help them attain basic essential education. We focus on a holistic development where
children are encouraged to participate in sports, drama and arts as well.
• Healthcare: Health is the primary driver of quality of life and productivity. Our
interventions in health care are to improve access and advocacy to ensure that
entitlements of citizens are fulfilled.
• Senior Citizens: Senior citizens are invaluable asset to our society. We help them by
providing them healthcare, psychological support and engage them with current
developments
• Community Development: Children cannot develop in isolation. It is only when the
community develops enough to sustain the development of children that our job will be
complete. To this end we work for development of empowered communities that have
access to entitlements.
• Livelihood: Earning a decent livelihood directly translates to better nutrition, health and
life. We implement numerous programs for ensuring livelihoods for the people in the
communities where we work.
• Adolescent: Adolescents are the most important demographic of our country. We
implement programs that help adolescents address their concerns like sensitization, issues
on sexuality, child birth etc.
•
Annamrita
• Food won't make a difference unless people do.
• In 2004, Annamrita Foundation started a
• mission-driven program to feed the school
• going children of India by becoming a
• partner in the Govt. of India’s Mid-Day Meal initiative. Over the past 18 years
with the help of your support and selfless acts of charity by our donors, we’ve
helped millions of school going children stay healthy and focus on their
education.
WhenYou NourishThe Hungry,You
NourishThe Future.
• Our programs
• Hunger has been prevalent in our country for centuries now.
• Even today, 14% of our population is undernourished.
• Estimates suggest, at the current rate, it will take
• between 23 years to 50 years to completely eradicate hunger from
• the face of our country. The only way to reduce the consequences
• of this monumental challenge is by safeguarding and promoting
• access to nutritious, safe, and affordable diets meals to the vulnerable populations of our country.
• As one of the most prominent Indian NGOs, Annamrita focuses on providing nutritious and high-
quality food relief to underprivileged communities.
Impact
• Over the past 17 years, Annamrita has been driven by the vision to
create a world in which no one in need goes hungry. We encourage
children to go to school each day and get nutritious, wholesome, and
hygienic food. Our desire to nourish people goes beyond just children.
In times of crisis, we have stood in solidarity to support the ones in
need. While our NGO continues to provide mid day meals to
encourage children to attend school regularly, our programs have also
provided necessary food relief during natural disasters and healthcare
crisis. Are you concerned about hungry children and communities of
India? Donate for children education and the other food relief
programs. Be the change you want to see in the world.
Goals
• Improve Food Security: We make food accessible
• to school-going children and various communities
• across the country with our various food relief
• programs and impeccable delivery network.
• Help PeopleTackle Undernourishment: We
• provide food relief to different communities,
• including school children, slum residents, healthcare workers, and daily wage
earners without any prejudice based on race, religion, caste, gender, or creed.
• Improve National Health with Better Nutrition: Our food relief and mid-day
meal programs are focused at bringing nutritious meals to the ones in need and
improve their health and wellbeing.
• Vision
• Our vision is to nurture a hunger-free India
• A majority of India’s population still lacks access to one square meal a day. As one of
India’s most active food NGOs, Annamrita has resolved to liberate the underprivileged
communities from the vicious cycle of poverty by serving them nutritious meals. We aim
to provide nutritious meals to various sections of our society and help them tackle
undernourishment.
• Mission
• Our mission is to serve nutritious and high-quality meals
• to the underprivileged communities of India
• We are creating a meaningful and tangible change in our society with the food we serve
through our donation programs. Initiatives like Operation Karuna, Kit Of Joy, Project
Satvik have helped us serve over 8 crore meals in just over one year.

Goa Outreach
• GOA OUTREACH
FOR SLUM & STREET CHILDREN
• SUPPORTING STREET AND SLUM CHILDREN
• Goa Outreach is a project (registered children's charity) based in Goa,
India, with the aim of helping local disadvantaged children regardless of
their religion, class, caste or gender. Many of these children
are slum and street children who have arrived in Goa alone or with their
families from neighbouring states in the hope of an easier and better life.
EDUCATION / ARTS AND CRAFTS
• At Goa Outreach we support children by getting the children into
school and providing support to encourage them to stay in
school. India now has the RightTo Education Act which states
that all children must attend school from 6 to 14 years of age,
there is no requirement for birth certificates, which was often a
reason why previously, disadvantaged children didn't attend
school. Goa Outreach also continues to support children beyond
14 years of age and also supports children in pre-school/
kindergarten
HEALTH CARE AND KEEPING CLEAN
• Children who live in slums and on the streets often suffer from long term
health problems, which do not get the necessary treatment early on.The
conditions in the slums exacerbates these problems and scabies, impetigo,
conjunctivitis are common issues that are easily spread. Infected mosquito
bites often go untreated resulting in more severe infections which leave
scaring as well as the danger of contracting Malaria or Dengue Fever. To
help the children with health care we provide free medicines and also give
out monthly health packs to promote cleanliness. Mosquito protection is
also given to families as Malaria and other vector borne diseases are still a
threat to families living in the slums.
A CHILDHOOD WORTH REMEMBERING
• We want to be able to give street and
slum children a chance of a childhood
worth remembering.We want the children
to study hard, but we also want to provide them with a safe and fun
environment with access to toys and games which other children take for
granted. We will continue with this hope that our work will not only be
beneficial for the children; it will be fun, safe and become an extension of their
family life.
THINK BEFORE GIVING
• Please do not give to children on the beach or street.
• One of the reasons there are so many children
• working as beggars and selling their wares on the beaches is that
tourists, usually foreign tourists, see the children and buy items off
them for well over the odds prices, or give them money which
although they think they are helping, it actually exacerbates the
problem. The children learn that living on the beach is much more
profitable than going to school. The parents of the children also see
this as easy income, so instead of the parents going to work, they
just send out their children, the younger the better in their eyes, as
the younger children bring in more money fromTourists.

SwamiVivekananda Swanirbhar
Karmasansthan
Prakalpa (SVSKP)
• Scheme implemented by- West Bengal Swarojgar
Corporation Ltd. (WBSCL).
• Objective of SVSKP
• The flagship scheme “SwamiVivekananda Swanirbhar Karmasansthan
Prakalpa (SVSKP)” all over the state to create self-employment
opportunities for unemployed youth including members of backward
classes, minorities and women all over the State. Unemployed youths on
fulfilment of certain criteria laid down in the Scheme are helped out to
start individually or group enterprises with bank finance.
Subsidy for Individual / Group in SVSKP
Maximum Govt. subsidy of Rs. 1.5 lakh for individual and Rs. 3.5 lakh for group of five and
above representing 30% of the project cost is provided by West Bengal Swarojgar Corporation
Ltd. (WBSCL). For individual, it is called “AtmaMaryada” and the same for a group is called
“AtmaSamman“.
• Training in SVSKP Scheme inWest Bengal
• The main objective of the scheme was to generate self-employment in the State. The
unemployed are identified and wherever possible are trained before they come up with
their projects for institutional finance whereby subsidy is provided to the entrepreneurs by
State Government. With the advent of the new Govt. in the State, certain primal
modifications have been brought into the scheme. While the quantum of subsidy has been
raised from 20% to 30%.
• Strikingly, the scheme has been named after the youth icon of India SwamiVivekananda
and has been renamed as ‘SwamiVivekananda Swanirbhar Karmasansthan Prakalpa’ since
19.09.2012. More stress has been given on training, especially on trades where the locally
available abundant raw materials, wasted due to ignorance, could be utilized for producing
finer articles and on traditional crafts where there is sufficient potential.
What are the Benefits of SwamiVivekananda Swanirbhar
Karmasansthan Prakalpa(SVSKP)Yojana?
• Generation of self-employment opportunities across the state.
• Promotion of enterprises in the remote and rural areas ofWest Bengal.
• Financing the funds to the educated unemployed youth of the state to promote
self-dependence.

• Mission of MAVIM
• The mission of the corporation are “To bring about gender justice and equality for
women, investing in human capital and the capacity building of women, thus making

livelihoods.”The main objectives of MAVIM is to:
• Organization women through Self Help Groups
• Build the overall capacities of women
• Enhance self confidence amongst women
• Entrepreneurial development of women
• Synchronize employment opportunities & market linkages
• Promote women’s initiative for equal opportunities, prosperity & participation in
governance.
• Build grassroots institutions over SHGs as a way forward to sustainable development.
Functions of Self Help Groups
• 1.They try to build the functional capacity of poor and marginalized sections
of society in the domain of employment and income-generating activities.
2.Those people who face severe difficulty in getting loans from bank will be
rescued with offering of collateral-free loans.
3. Resolution of conflicting situation through dialogue between the parties
and mediation.
4. Act as an important source of Micro Finance Service support to the Poor
and Needy people of the society.
5. Rural Formal Banking go through is done through the SHGs.
6. Savings habit generation among the poor and down trodden sections and
weaker sections of the society.
Need for Self Help Groups
• It can be observed from the Indian economic scenario that the main reasons for the rural
poverty is the lack of access or limited access to credit and financial services. According to
the RangarajanCommittee Report the indicated main four major causes are Inability to
give collateral security,Weak credit absorption capacity,The insufficient reach of
institutions andWeak community network etc.
The SHGs here play a major role to solve the above specified four reasons by way of their
functioning. They act as collateral security providers to the poor and weaker sections of
people within the groups, nullifying the possibility of weak credit absorption capacity of
individuals, enlarge the scope of reaching the trading and economic institutions, and finally
facilitate the effective networking and connectivity with the outer world.

  • 15. Goa Outreach • GOA OUTREACH FOR SLUM & STREET CHILDREN • SUPPORTING STREET AND SLUM CHILDREN • Goa Outreach is a project (registered children's charity) based in Goa, India, with the aim of helping local disadvantaged children regardless of their religion, class, caste or gender. Many of these children are slum and street children who have arrived in Goa alone or with their families from neighbouring states in the hope of an easier and better life.
  • 16. EDUCATION / ARTS AND CRAFTS • At Goa Outreach we support children by getting the children into school and providing support to encourage them to stay in school. India now has the RightTo Education Act which states that all children must attend school from 6 to 14 years of age, there is no requirement for birth certificates, which was often a reason why previously, disadvantaged children didn't attend school. Goa Outreach also continues to support children beyond 14 years of age and also supports children in pre-school/ kindergarten
  • 17. HEALTH CARE AND KEEPING CLEAN • Children who live in slums and on the streets often suffer from long term health problems, which do not get the necessary treatment early on.The conditions in the slums exacerbates these problems and scabies, impetigo, conjunctivitis are common issues that are easily spread. Infected mosquito bites often go untreated resulting in more severe infections which leave scaring as well as the danger of contracting Malaria or Dengue Fever. To help the children with health care we provide free medicines and also give out monthly health packs to promote cleanliness. Mosquito protection is also given to families as Malaria and other vector borne diseases are still a threat to families living in the slums.
  • 18. A CHILDHOOD WORTH REMEMBERING • We want to be able to give street and slum children a chance of a childhood worth remembering. We want the children to study hard, but we also want to provide them with a safe and fun environment with access to toys and games which other children take for granted. We will continue with this hope that our work will not only be beneficial for the children; it will be fun, safe and become an extension of their family life.
  • 19. THINK BEFORE GIVING • Please do not give to children on the beach or street. • One of the reasons there are so many children • working as beggars and selling their wares on the beaches is that tourists, usually foreign tourists, see the children and buy items off them for well over the odds prices, or give them money which although they think they are helping, it actually exacerbates the problem. The children learn that living on the beach is much more profitable than going to school. The parents of the children also see this as easy income, so instead of the parents going to work, they just send out their children, the younger the better in their eyes, as the younger children bring in more money fromTourists.

Need for Self Help Groups • It can be observed from the Indian economic scenario that the main reasons for the rural poverty is the lack of access or limited access to credit and financial services. According to the RangarajanCommittee Report the indicated main four major causes are Inability to give collateral security,Weak credit absorption capacity,The insufficient reach of institutions andWeak community network etc. The SHGs here play a major role to solve the above specified four reasons by way of their functioning. They act as collateral security providers to the poor and weaker sections of people within the groups, nullifying the possibility of weak credit absorption capacity of individuals, enlarge the scope of reaching the trading and economic institutions, and finally facilitate the effective networking and connectivity with the outer world.
