2. Three Types of Information Sources
Primary Sources- original information, first-hand sources.
A.) Original historical and archival materials. Examples: Manuscripts, historical images, journals, original
diaries.
B.) Government information and documents. Census and statistical data.
C.) Research published in databases such as Academic Search Premier (Scholarly Peer-Reviews Journals)
Secondary Sources- second-hand information. Non-original information that is interpreted by someone or
paraphrased such as reviews or reports.
A.) School textbooks
B.) Encyclopedias
C.) Articles in magazines (these are not scholarly peer-reviewed)
Tertiary Sources- this is a source with minimal information or none at all. It directs to other sources of information.
A.) Bibliographies
B.) Concordances
C.) Abstracts- a breakdown of little information of an article

Under “Limit Your Results”, Check “Full Text” and “Scholarly Peer Reviewed Journals”
In the search engine type “Civil War”
