1. SUMMARY
The paper on the subject: “The hero-artist: the peculiarities of the personality
(based on the materials of the novels “The Theatre” by S.Maugham, “The Sea, sea”
by I.Murdoch”). Scientific advisor-Taratuta Svitlana Leonidivna, candidate of
philology, associate professor of the department of Germanic and Slavic philology
and foreign literature.
The aim of the work lies in discovering the borders of the notions “life” –
“game”, studying the novels of the English writers, which were mentioned before.
The research methods are conditioned by the specificity of the material and the
aim of its studying. The formal method is the main one, which was used in studying
of the fiction. The studying of the spiritual life, their psychology was done by means
of the psychological method. The comparative method was used in the comparison of
the characters of the novels “The Theatre” by S.Maugham and “The Sea, sea” by
I.Murdoch.
The paper research consists of the introduction, two chapters ( the theoretical
and the practical), conclusions and the list of the used literature. Chapter 1 is called
“The mental and psychological peculiarities of the creative personality”. Here are
given the main thoughts of the scientists concerning the creative personality, the
psychological aspects of the reincarnation of the person on the stage and the influence
of the part on the real life of the actors.
Chapter 2 “The theatre as the art of life in the novels “The Theatre” by
S.Maugham and “The Sea, sea” by I.Murdoch” is dedicated to researching the lives
of the main characters – Julia Lambert and Charles Arrowby – and discovering the
border between a real life and a game.
The given research let us make a conclusion, that in the case with the main
characters the theatre becomes an integral part of their being and they cannot imagine
themselves without it, because only in the theatre they feel themselves alive and
happy. The game plays the main part in their lives, because they act as in the real life
so on the stage. When they stop acting, they are followed by defeats and fails.
