2. Basic movements are experiences that enable you to move with
self confidence.
You, as learner of Physical Education, should understand the
concept related to movement if you are to accomplish the movements.
3. There are four components of movement:
1. Spatial Awareness – Where does the body move?
Examples:
a) In what direction an you walk?
b) How high or low can your body move?
c) What is the longest pathway that you can take
2. Body Awareness – What can body do?
Examples:
a) Can you show me your elbow?
b) Can you walk and jump?
c) What is the longest pathway that can you take?
4. 3. Qualities of movement – How does the body
move?
Examples:
a) Can you walk, changing your speed each time the
whistle blows?
b) How fast does your body move?
4. Relationship – With whom or what does the body
move?
Examples:
a) Can you go over the benches using different
movements and body shapes?
b) Can you volley the ball against the wall?
5. Movements have three categories:
1. Locomotor Movements – are
movements done by moving through
space from one place to another. And
these are walking, jumping, running,
hopping, skipping and sliding.
6. 2. Non-locomotor Movements – like
swinging, bending, twisting, turning,
stretching, pushing and pulling are
performed in one place. You can do these
movements can be combined with loco
motor movements.
7. Manipulative Movements – are the
body movements in which force is
imparted to objects or received from
objects. Movements such as throwing,
catching, striking, trapping, volleying,
dribbling, and rolling ae considered as
fundamental manipulative skills.
