What is a Planet?
A planet is a heavenly body that revolves around the sun on its orbit.
There are eight planets on our solar system
●
Mercury
●
Venus
●
Earth
●
Mars
●
Jupiter
●
Saturn
●
Uranus
●
Neptune

Which of the planets support life?
Among the eight, it is interesting to know that,
ONLY Earth that is, the third planet from the
sun, supports life.
Meaning living things can only survive on this
planet.
Even though some planets seem to have
some amounts sustainable features!

What is a Satellite?
A satellite is a smaller body either the moon, a
planet or a machine that revolve (go round) a
bigger body (planets or a star) in space.
Kinds of satellites.
There are two kinds of satellites, namely;
●
Natural satellite
and
●
Artificial satellite

The only natural satellite of the earth is the MOON,
and it coordinates with the artificially made satellites.

Some importance of the artificial satellites
●
Some take pictures of the planet that help meteorologists to
predict weather, track hurricanes and earthquakes.
●
Some take pictures of other planets, the sun, black holes, dark
matter or far away galaxies. These help scientists to understand
the solar system and the universe.
●
Some satellites are used mainly for communications, such as
beaming TV, Radio signals and phone calls around the world.
(a group of more than 20 satellites make up the Global
Positioning System, GPS. These GPS helps in identifying
the exact location of a body.
●
With the help of the GPS, ships, planes and some ground
vehicles (cars) are able to navigate (locate) their whereabouts.

Some importance of the sun to the
earth.
●
The sun provides energy for photosynthesis
●
It supplies heat to keep the earth warm.
●
The heat from the sun is used to keep dry and preserve some food products
●
It is the source of light for the earth.
●
Photo-voltaic cells convert the solar energy into electrical energy humanity
purposes.
