This presentation discusses the process of jute batching. Jute batching involves selecting a combination of different qualities of jute fibers to make yarn according to customer demand. The objectives of batching are to make the fibers flexible and remove hardness. Factors like cost, quality, and availability are considered for batch selection. Different compositions are used for different types of yarns, mixing hard and soft jute fibers. Emulsions are applied to make the fibers flexible for spinning. The emulsion must have appropriate properties and not harm machines or fibers.
2. Jute Batch
2023 Jute Batching 2
The jute or bale of jute which is selected for the
preparation of yarn with specific quality standards and
required count in the combination of different qualities of
jute for making yarn according to the customer's demand
is called the said yarn batch.
3. All the processes starting from batch selection up to
carding of jute is called batching. It is the primary
stage of jute yarn processing.

4. Objectives of Batching
2023 Jute Batching 4
1. To help fiber move freely during processing
2. To get expected dampness and flexibility
3. To remove hardness and stiffness of jute fibers
4. To intermix the batch component effectively
5. To reduce loss due to wastage
6. To control and reduce yarn cost
5. Factors Considered for Batch Selection
2023 Jute Batching 5
Cost of raw material
Cost of production
Quality of yarn being spun
Machine used during processing
Physical properties
Availability and duration of Jute
Supply and demand of customer
6. Composition of Jute Yarns
2023 Jute Batching 6
Hessian warp: To make this type of yarn, clean and defect
free jute is required. It is good quality, clean and free from speck
with high luster.
Batch selection:
Hard jute-30%
Soft jute-70%
7. Composition of Jute Yarns
2023 Jute Batching 7
Hessian weft: Hessian weft is cleaner, and softer than
hessian warp yarn. For hessian weft clean fiber is required with
good strength.
Batch selection: (for heavy yarn)
Hard jute-35%
Soft jute-65%
8. Composition of Jute Yarns
2023 Jute Batching 8
Sacking warp: Sacking warp jute yarn is good and strong.
Specks and color is not important when manufacturing this type
of yarn.
Batch selection:
Hard jute-60%
Soft jute-40%
9. Composition of Jute Yarns
2023 Jute Batching 9
Sacking weft: Sacking weft yarns are low quality yarn. It is
coarser and is made from low grade jute fiber. It may contain line
cuttings, bale cuttings, soft and hard waste, rope waste, jute dust,
habijabi and entangled jute.
Batch selection:
NC-70%
SMR-15%
Caddis-5%
10. Jute Batching Emulsion
2023 Jute Batching 10
Jute batching emulsions are of a simple nature, usually
containing only the mineral oil, water, and emulsifying agent.
With the help of emulsion, the hard and rough condition of
jute is removed, and the fiber of jute becomes flexible and
suitable for spinning.

12. Requirements of a good JBO
2023 Jute Batching 12
It must not harm either the jute or the machines.
The color must be appropriate.
There should be no possibility of spontaneous combustion.
Standing should not cause it to become rancid or sticky.
It should not stink.
It must be inexpensive and abundant.
13. Defeats of Batching Emulsion
2023 Jute Batching 13
1. Creaming: When an emulsion is prepared it is impossible to
make all the drops the same size, some will be much smaller
than others and there will be a few quite large drops.
2. Breaking: It can be regarded as the opposite of emulsification
where the droplets of the internal oil phase unite to form large
drops which then float to the surface of the emulsion.
14. The Emulsion Applying Machine
2023 Jute Batching 14
1.The softener machine
That is used for long jute.
2.The spreader machine
That is used for the comparatively short jute.
