Objectives: to activate the vocabulary on the topic “ Working day’
to practice the students in use of the Present Simple
to teach to talk about their working days
to develop the students’ listening and reading skills, attention, memory
to improve the students’ phonetical skills
to get the students know their friends routine life
to teach the students discipline and organizing skills
Equipment: flashcards, handouts, poster of the clock,clock imitation on the
floor, blackboard
Procedure.
I The beginning of the lesson
1. Greeting: Good morning!
I am glad to see you!
2.Warming up: days,dates,seasons, weather
3.Phonetic drill
/g/-/t/ - get up, get home, get dressed, go to school, go to bed, play computer games
/æ/ - have (breakfast, lunch, dinner, supper, lessons )
/w/ - wash my face, watch TV
/ ð/ - This is Ann
And this is Bill
This is Rex
And this is Spot
II The main part
1. Checking up topical vocabulary
Look at the pictures ( flashcards) and name the action:
get up, make the bed, get dressed, clean my teeth, brush my hair, wash my face,
have breakfast, go to school, have lessons, have lunch, get home, have dinner, do my
homework,
watch TV, play with friends, play computer games, have supper, have a shower, go to
bed.
Fillers: Listen to my words and mime the actions (get up….)
2. Activating the vocabulary
a) Daily routine
Look at the pictures (handout 1) and read the words below:
get up, make the bed, get dressed, clean my teeth, brush my hair, wash my face,
have breakfast, go to school, have lessons, have lunch, get home, have dinner, do my
homework,
watch TV, play with my friends, play computer games, have dinner, have a shower,
go to bed.
b) Telling the time
Can you tell WHEN we do all this?
(poster on the board) – 7 o’clock, quarter TO/PAST.. , half PAST, five
PAST/TO… etc. T→CL
c) Work with handouts.Creative dictation.
I give you pieces of paper (handout 2) with a set of clocks without hands on
them (blank faces), you should draw the hands in their proper places while
I dictate you the time.
3.Game “WHAT TIME IS IT?”
We have a big clock on the floor, let’s play. As you know that clock has a face and two
hands – big and little. Now I will tell you time and you should show it as if you are a
clock, you also have two hands, but you must bent one to make it little, like clock has
– big and little. So you stand in the center of our clock and show the time with youer
hands.
Pupils show the time in turn standing in the center of the clock.
4. Group work and reading
All these words can be divided into 3 groups: what you do in the morning,in the
afternoon,in the evening and you will be divided into 3 groups too - morning,
afternoon, evening.
Work in groups. I’ll give you a set of sentences (handout 3) and you should choose
those sentences which require to your part of a day .
When you finish , read your sentences in the right order. Mind the time! (morning,
afternoon , evening).
Pupils choose sentences and the read them to the class in the right logical and
chronological order.
5) Relaxation
Let’s have a break.
You are tired already, let’s stand up and sing our song, don’t forget to show all the
actions mentioned in the song.
Song “This is the time I wake up and get up” (with movements)
6) Speaking.
a) Now you should tell about your daily activity. So we’ll do it in chain, one pupil
starts with the first sentence - …I wake up at… , another pupil must continue , then
you must tell a sentence one by one in the right chronological order.
Pupils tell about their day.
b) How do we say the same about someone else?
(Using Present Simple in the 3-rd person singular)
You have prepared drowings of your favourite person or character. Now please could
you tell about your character’s day?
Pupils tell about their drawn characters’ days.
III Home task: do the tasks on worksheets (handout 4)
