2. E- Newspaper
• An e-newspaper is an online version of a newspaper. When online news papers were introduced,
it created more opportunities for companies. It is easier to synergise with ads, and sponsors and
visually presentable. I believe E-newspapers are used to inform, persuade and market.
• E-newspapers can be used in many different platforms. It can be used on pc/laptop, smart-phone,
tablet. The positives about smart phones and tablet is its easier to access and its portable. An
example of a E-newspaper would be ‘The Times’ online on the web.
3. E-Magazine
• E-magazine is a strong source, because firstly
it doesn’t cost you any money to view online.
Also it entertains, informs and promotes too.
• An example of an e-magazine is ‘Closer’ on
the web, this magazine is mostly about
celebrity, however it still informs in some
ways.
• E-magazine can be used without the web
however on the web its easier to access and
free of charge.
4. Adverts
• Adverts are very important products and they normally are digital, which makes
the products message more simple and get the message across of what they are
trying to promote.
• Some ads are used to inform, persuade, market and most importantly to
entertain, because if an adverts wasn’t entertaining then the product wouldn’t be
successful.
• An example of a real advert would be John Lewis Christmas advert 2014, it was
viewed on TV (certain channels) and on YouTube (online web).
5. DVD/ CD COVERS
• Dvd and cd covers are products used to attract their target audiences
attention, and the main factors are the colour, Title and theme.
• A Dvd/Cd cover is mainly to entertain, inform (the tittle is the clue),
and to promote its used to sell and the best cd/Dvd covers sell the
most, it is competition.
6. Flyers/Leaflets
• Flyers and leaflets are like adverts, but they want to get a simple
message across easily. Most times flyers and leaflets are analogue,
because all flyers and leaflets keep the information short and snappy.
At the end they put their number or a way of contact for the audience
to get interested.
• Flyers and leaflets, inform, support and market.
7. Training materials/ instruction manuals
• Training materials is very positive, because its
helpful and also a good way of making money
for the company.
• An example of a training material would be
sales training online, either a step by step or a
visual video or even links to pdf for guidance.
• This can be used in various platforms one of
the main one is YouTube (online) or hand outs
of sheet to help with instructions. This can be
to educate, inform and support.
8. Text and copy for moving image and audio
• Texts such as scripts, inform and promote. End credits, promote
because they state names and roles and give credits to everyone who
took part in the products. Also subtitles are their to inform because
they help and educate different languages, its very useful and
financially strong.
• Scripts are used to inform because they help the characters
understand their role and acts.
9. Interactive media
• Interactive media is to do with text, graphics, animation, video, audio, games. Interactive media is
usually used with system, computing. These products have a specific target audience, so it isn’t
hard to identify the type of texts, audio, and games.
• An example of an interactive media could be a online game on Miniclip a well know developing
gaming site, also the game ‘8ball pool’ is a great example of a specific interactive media. This
game first started on the online sit then developed on to smart phones and logging in online to vs
other people in the world. I believe interactive medias main target is to entertain, inform and
promote.
10. Promotional material
• Promotional material is helpful for the upcoming and its used to
inform, support and promote. Promotional material can be anything
to promote a product from wrist bands- to online video and ads.
• Promotional material can be an advantage and is a way of building up
business and a great way of marketing.
11. E-books
• EBooks are useful because carrying a ebook is easier than going and
buying a book and reading a book online. However some people
prefer to read on a e-book because they feel it can ‘provide, promote
and entertain’ them.
• An example of an eBooks could be, reading the book holes on it.
People feel more active using eBooks because its touch screen.
12. Conclusion
• All these digital products all have their disadvantages and advantages. All these digital products have one thing in
common, they all ‘PROMOTE’. Some of these products are used better, because the development of technology. An
example would be e-newspapers. It’s a new way of accessing news online, and the audience prefer this as it is digital not
analogue. Some people still prefer to buy a newspaper and read it, and take their time. I believe e- newspaper is better
access and feels more engaging. All the digital media products can be conveyed on different platforms of media texts. On
‘The Times’ news paper, formal and informative pieces of texts are required, on the other hand news papers like ‘The Sun’
is more of entertainment and celebrity gossip. Audiences now a days like to intervene with celebrity life style, so ‘The Sun’
news paper is selling out. It is on many media platforms for a reason, because the audiences figures are high. With Cd
covers its all about attraction. If you have a short and snappy title, less information to intrigue the audience then your
cover is clearly successful. Cd/Dvd covers are to promote and entertain so colour and theme is a key. With adverts its all
about meaning. If an advert didn’t have a meaning then it would promote the product as well. If I compare an advert with
Dvd/Cd cover, then it wouldn’t be fair because they are two different digital products and they promote and sell in
different ways. I believe an advert would have a advantage over CD/Dvd cover, because adverts can be promoted and
views in many different platforms: TV, Online (YouTube), Link shared via twitter or Facebook.
