1. PENSIERO
POSITIVO
ED ALTRI CONSIGLI PER AFFRONTARE LA VITA
Today the Internet is used to search for information, post
selfies, organize meetings and many other things that made
life much easier. Yet the World Wide Web, like many other
inventions, was born for military purposes. In 1969 the
U.S. Department of Defence decided to create a
communication system to exchange information from
computers across the United States and to withstand a
World War, it was called Arpanet.
A new era had begun, but almost nobody noticed!
Twenty years later Tim Berners-Lee, a British scientist,
invented the World Wide Web (WWW) in 1989, while working
at CERN. The Web was originally conceived and developed
to meet the demand for automated information-sharing
between scientists in universities and institutes around the
world.
Tim Berners-Lee and the team at CERN had no idea of the
socio-cultural and economic impact their World Wide Web
was going to have. This system was designed as a web to
navigate through the archives of research laboratories.
From those very early webpages to our modern era of
instantly available information and omnipresent social
media, the internet has enabled us to meet ourselves all
over again, opening up whole worlds of creativity and
thought. It has fuelled revolutions, fundamentally
transformed how we interact with each other
