Mechanical Engineering Experience
Eiceman Research Group, New Mexico State University September 2013 – Present
Lab Technician
- Currently serving as part of a small research team that develops chemical detection instruments.
- Designed, modeled, and built chemical detection instruments used in Masters- and Ph.D.-level research.
- Successfully created eight operating instruments, currently designing two more.
- Managed multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Developed a second-generation lab-standard high-voltage electrode chip for use in the NMSU-style
Tandem Differential Mobility Spectrometer.
- Reverse-engineered, improved, and built substrate-based air filter towers to allow for greater operating
pressures while reducing size and complexity. New design has been adopted as the lab standard.
- Ran computational fluid models to analyze and improve gas flow through instruments.
- Performed diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on the supplemental lab equipment, including pressurized
gas supplies, vacuum pumps, gas preheaters, sample injectors, and computer-instrument interfaces.
Homemade Hobby Rocket Engines, Personal Project August 2014 – Present
Designed and built a small rocket engine fueled by compressed air and kerosene.
- Currently working on improvements to the existing engine and beginning tests of a second engine.
Magellan the Dragon, Senior Capstone Design Project, New Mexico State University August 2013 – May 2014
Worked with a team of twelve to create a waterborne animatronic dragon for use in local parades and festivals.
- Served as a senior member of the sub-group that designed, modeled, machined, assembled, and tested the
dragon’s buoyancy understructure.
Motorized Slot Car, Intro to Product Development, New Mexico State University January 2011 – May 2011
Manufactured and assembled an electric slot car to specifications as part of a class-wide competition.
-Awarded first place in the stock class at the end-of-term race.
Other Work Experience
Natura LLC, Las Cruces, New Mexico Summers 2010 – 2013
Landscaper
-Improved and recreated landscapes for multiple homes in the Las Cruces area.
NMSU Weather Station, Las Cruces, New Mexico Intermittent from June 2008 – Present
Substitute Observer
- Recorded and submitted daily weather observations from NMSU’s National Weather Service long-term
climate station when the primary observer was unavailable.
