3. Introduction
Smart Sensors. What are they? And where can we find
them?
A sensor produce an electric output when combined
with interfacing electronic circuits is known as “smart
sensor”.
4. Activity 1: Evading Motion Detection
Objective
Discovering how the Motion Detector works, And the materials that
avoid this sensor. Also find the output and the input of it.
Procedure
We put the motion
detector in a big
space
A meter to calculate
the inches that the
motion could catch
Some materials that
avoid the motion
5. Activity 1: Evading Motion
Detection
Results
Conclusion
The input of the motion is movement and the output is the alarm.
It catches about

7. Activity 3: Making a Microphone
without the substance
Objective
The difference between the flexible and the rigid slice?
And how attaching elastic substrate will affect the
response for both rigid and flexible film?
Procedure
9. Activity 3: Making a Microphone
with the substance “balloon”
Objective
The difference that will happen with the PVDF if we
added the substance “balloon”.
Procedure
10. Results
Conclusion
We found out that the flexible slice is better than the
rigid one.
Activity 3: Making a Microphone
with the substance “balloon”
11. Activity 4: Exploring the Piezo Effect
Objective
What happens to the PVDF polymer when it undergoes
polarization?
Procedure
12. Activity 4: Exploring the Piezo Effect
Piezoelectricity
Is the electric charge that accumulates in certain solid
materials in response to applied mechanical stress. It is
derived from the Greek piezo or piezein. Which means
to squeeze or press.
Conclusion
We found out that the PVDF is a kind of polymer.
13. Design Project: Design a Coin Counter
Objective
Knowing how to specify unknown coin.
Procedure
14. Results
Conclusion
there is a proportional relation between the volt and
the mass.

15. Final Project: Magical Trash Bin
We want to do something environmentally friendly.
To keep Qatar clean and tide, there should be a trash bin
everywhere.
We had an idea to make a trash bin in public places.
The input of this trash is pressure, and the output is
light.
When someone throw something inside the trash
green light turn on, and when we throw beside it the
Trash glows red.
16. Final Project: Magical Trash Bin
Introduction
We all know that we are doing this to achieve Qatar vision 2030
and to reach the higher we can be, so the first thing that pop up
in our minds is the pollution in Qatar because we noticed it a lot
between the streets and public places, so we tried to manage it
with an simple and nice idea, also it’s easy to be done.
Aim of the work (objectives)
All we want to reach is:
1- keep Qatar out of pollution in a fun way.
2- Make Qatar in a beautiful sight.
3- Make good use of art and decoration in our daily lifestyle.
17. Magical Trash Bin
Hypothesis
1- Figure out how we can know if the object is an
rubbish
2- Discover how the trash bin will activate and from
where it will take the source of power.
3- Avoid the weather problems that might make it
hard for the trash bin to activate.
4- How long the light will glow because it won’t take
forever.
5- Discover the serious problems that might happen
while the trash bin is active.
18. Magical Trash Bin
Methods and Materials
1- A normal trash bin.
2- Sensors: “ultrasound”
Ultrasound is an wobbling sound pressure wave with a
frequency greater than the upper limit of the human
hearing range. Ultrasound is thus not separated from
'normal' sound by differences in physical properties,
only by the fact that humans cannot hear it.
3- light.
19. Magical Trash Bin
Results
1- To reduce the impact of pollution.
2- A nice view for the public places.
3- People are encouraged to use it daily in a fun
way.
4- Better environment, beautiful view.
20. Magical Trash Bin
Recommendations
1- The product should be placed in a good weather
conditions.
2- If we use the cheaper pressure sensor it would be
better for us to provide it in huge amount.
3- We can make a small trash bins to the children to
encourage them to be environmentally friendly.
4- May some sounds or signs appears on the trash
bin to encourage people to throw the rubbish in it .
21. Conclusion
Al-Bairaq group helped us to discover the smart sensors
in 5 simple activities that got us deep in physics world,
and let us invent our own smart sensor.
Basically, that’s the end of a new beginning for us to
choose scientific section in college because we found
out that science is fun.
