3. Introduction to Light
• Light is electromagnetic radiation within a certain portion of
the electromagnetic spectrum. The word usually refers to
visible light, which is visible to the human eye and is
responsible for the sense of sight.[1] Visible light is usually
defined as having wavelengths in the range of 400–700
nanometres (nm), or 4.00 × 10−7 to 7.00 × 10−7 m, between
the infrared (with longer wavelengths) and the ultraviolet
(with shorter wavelengths).[2][3] This wavelength means a
frequency range of roughly 430–750 terahertz (THz).
4. Activity 1: Lights and their Spectra
By examining spectra of different light sources using the same diffraction, you
will realize that similar light sources of light can have different results.
1. Cut the CD in a circle of the wooden roll size .
2. Cut to black papers to 2 circles of the wooden roll size& glue them to
each other.
3. Cut narrow line in the middle of one of black circles.
We tried it in incandescent light source, fluorescent light source
Conclusion : Each element has distinctive
Spectrum.
5. Activity 2: Observing Diffraction
• When a wave encounters an object or edge similar in size to
its wavelength, it will tend to bend, or diffract, around that
object. This is a fundamental behavior of all waves. Students
will observe the diffraction of various waves, including light.
1. I set up ripple rank filled half way with water with to bobbers
to create interfering waves in water.
2. I used water instead of light to use the waves.
3. That I can see the waves in the form of water.
6. Activity 3: Observing Interference
I had a transparent paper with to circles, I place
them over each other and I saw the waves.
7. Activity 4: Observing Iridescence
Peacock feathers: seeing different shade of the
feathers colour by using different kind of lights .
8. Product Idea
Title: Brighty lamp
The product idea that its (Handmade lampshade) craftsmanship
saves time and money, easy to make and beautiful shapes
,specially now people want new Strange and wonderful ideas
and It will benefit the people to change the style of the place by
choosing something new and strange in terms of change in the
characteristics of the company or houses.
9. Conclusions
(Overall)
Benefits I gained new skills and experiences , I
also learned things about the light that I did not
know &I discovered that there are many uses of
light which was Very interesting and it was
wonderful Experiment.
10. Acknowledgment
