Alain Bernardo is an electrical engineer, who holds a position as a
Design Engineer in Hyder’s Global Excellence Center in Manila. He
has experiences in various electrical services design and has
inclinations in MV, LV and Lighting designs.
Alain has involvements in various projects that require LV and ELV
design knowledge such as works in Atasehir Gardens, Alpha Coal
Mines and Etihad Rail. He is also proficient in using engineering
softwares such as ETAP and Amtech.
He is also knowledgeable in MV distribution design which he used in
projects such as Kahramaa Mega Reservoir and Education City Site
Wide infrastructure design.
He has an expertise in using different lighting calculation softwares
such as Dialux, Relux and AGI32. He is well experienced in BS 5489,
CIE 115 and QHDM based roadway lighting design.
Alain is also proficient in using design softwares such as AutoCAD
MEP, and other office-essential softwares such as MS Office.
Currently, he is pursuing his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Suitability to the Role
Alain Bernardo is an experienced electrical engineer with various
works involving HV and MV infrastructure design. He has involvement
various involvement from different HV/MV infrastructure projects such
as Education City RO-10 and V09 projects in Doha, Qatar and SFMC
Site-wide Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. His involvements on these
projects include power system studies using ETAP, and developing
various reports necessary for the project.
Relevance of Experience
For this project, he will be involved in capacity the same as that of his
other projects. His knowledge in power system design, along with his
expertise in ETAP, will be utilized in this project.

Doha Metro Gold Line, Doha, Qatar
2015-Date
The Gold Line, also referred to as the Historic Line, runs approximately 15km from Al
Aziziya to Ras Bu Abboud. It has 13 stations due for completion. As the lead electrical
design engineer, Alain’s involvements are production of the front of house lighting layouts,
the MEP component layouts, supervision of BIM team assigned to the project, and direct
communication with other lead engineers in the lead office.
Education City – V09 Project, Doha, Qatar
2015-Date
The project is a continuation of the previous EDC projects. It involves design of 11kV
primary distribution system. His involvement includes conducting Load Flow Analysis and
Short Circuit Analyses on different loading scenarios using ETAP, delivering drawing
which includes layout and single line diagrams, and developing reports.
Education City RO-10: EDC1 Supply Transfer Scheme, Doha, Qatar
2014-Date
An infrastructure project located in Education City, Doha that aims to reroute the existing
66KV incomer of EDC-1 from Gharafa South West Substation to EDC-RO. His
involvement includes developing new single line diagrams, drawing layouts and details.
Lufthansa Cargo, Frankfurt, Germany
2014
In order to support the German office in completing the works for Lufthansa, Alain, with
four other engineers, were sent to Frankfurt, Germany for three months from July to
September of 2014.
Landmark Oasis Mall, Sharjah, UAE
2014
A 36,000 m2 retail mall with three retail levels over two basements, this project will house
Landmark’s own brand stores, together with a selection of food and beverages. His
involvement on this project was primarily on the development of the schematic design for
electrical building services.
Kahramaa Mega Reservoir, Doha, Qatar
2013-2014
A large scale project which is composed of five water reservoir sites around Doha. His
involvement on the project was primarily on the development of the Medium Voltage (MV)
supply of each site. The work includes Load Flow and Short Circuit calculations using
ETAP, site-wide lighting, drawing productions and project documentations.

Contract 2 (C2) Project, Doha, Qatar
2012-2014
A large scale urban development project located north of Doha, Qatar. Involvement on
the project includes lighting calculations, volt drop calculations, drawing productions
and project documentations. His knowledge in various engineering softwares, which
includes Dialux and Amtech, helped the team to meet crucial deadlines and to produce
complete deliverable packages. The various C2 Projects that he is involved are the

2012
A building services project for various rail stations of Etihad Rail Project. His involvement
includes indoor lighting design, street lighting design, electrical load assessment, and
design of ELV systems (FDAS, COMMS, Security Access, etc.).
Lusail Public Realm CP4/CP5B Landscape and Street Lighting, Qatar
2012-2014
The project aims to give active streets pedestrian friendly surroundings which are
necessary for a successful and sustainable urban development. His involvement includes
street lighting design, LV system that supply power to landscape lighting, and volt drop
calculations of both street lighting and landscape lighting power systems.
Atasehir Gardens, Istanbul, Turkey
2012
A multifunctional high rise structure that will serve as both residential and commercial
centre located in the heart of Istanbul, Turkey. It is comprised of three high rise towers
joined in a single podium. His project involvement includes load assessment calculations
and electrical design layouts for all the towers.
Education City 11kV Primary Distribution System, Doha, Qatar
2011-2014
The project involves design of 11kV primary distribution system which is supplied by12 x
66kV/11kV primary substation. Conduct Load Flow Analysis and Short Circuit Analysis on
different loading scenarios using Amtech PowerNet and ETAP to ensure that the existing
equipment can handle the present and future development of the project.
Alpha Coal Mine, Australia
2011
A large mining camp project in Australia that will cater a 5-star accommodation to the
miners. It is made up of five camps that are scattered throughout the coal-rich
environment of Australia. His involvement includes works in lighting design (both indoor

and landscape lighting), HV and LV infrastructure, communication network layout, FDAS
and security access system.
Queensland Rail, Australia
2011
The main rail network operator in Queensland which provides services such as suburban
and long distance passenger transport, as well as freight and rail solution. He is part of
the team that provide technical review for the 25 kV gas insulated switchgear installation
in Nebo (one of QR station) that intends to review whether the design comply with the
Australian Standards.
AWPR, Al Ain, UAE
2011
A project that exhibits the life of different wildlife in different deserts around the world. His
contribution for the project includes landscape lighting planning, reliability test of existing
LV design and recommendation of appropriate sizes of equipment.
