BFD has implemented 7 education projects from 2019-2020 that provided services to over 12,000 beneficiaries. The projects focused on rehabilitating and constructing schools, providing school supplies, and maintaining access to education for displaced children in Yemen. BFD also contributed to the national education curriculum and represented local NGOs in education clusters to advocate for education nationwide.

Building Foundation for Development (BFD) is a Yemeni national non-profit and non-govern-
mental organization. BFD always aims to mitigate the suffering of communities affected by
wars and disasters by working nationwide at different levels to promote equitable and sustain-
able development, humanitarian response, and other relevant interventions for a better life
and wellbeing of communities and individuals.

PROFILE
Since education is a powerful element of
recovery and development and one of the
strongest tools for decreasing poverty and
convalescing health, gender equality, peace,
and stability in Yemen, BFD has taken
serious steps towards renovating the educa-
tion system mainly and directly for
displaced children, girls and most vulnera-
ble children across many prioritized areas in
Yemen and ensure that schools remain
open and operational through many
programs as schools’ rehabilitation, WASH
facilities in school Rehabilitation, provision
of New School Desks and Repair of School
Desks, Provision of schools supplies and
basic learning materials, provision of
schools bags, Establishment of Learning
Spaces.

particularly in areas where schools are
damaged, closed, or unable to fully operate
because of budget, payroll, and other
conflict-related constraints.

BFD was also one of the core agencies that has contributed to the preparation of the Educa-
tion in Emergencies (EiE) national curriculum, alongside the Ministry of Education (MoE) in
Yemen. Moreover, BFD was chosen to represent the local NGOs working in Yemen in the
global education cluster in Geneva 2019, Switzerland. On other notes, BFD is one of them in
both the national and sub education cluster SAG members due to its effective and active pres-
