Arrange for food for the group.

5. What's in the rucksacks?
• The mountaineers take thr things they
need in their rucksacks like food
packets,water bottle,rope,hook,plastic
sheet diary, torch, towel,
soap,whistle,glucose,jaggery,chana etc.
• The mountaineers take Vitamin C, iron
tablets and hot choclate milk in their
braekfast. These give them strength and
help them to keep warm in extreme cold.
7. How do the mountaineers cross a river?
• A thick rope tied across
the river, from one bank to
the other. The rope was
tightly fixed to pegs or
‘pitons’ on both the sides.
• The mountaineers ties a
rope around their waist
and put a sling (type of
hook) in it. They then put
the sling on the thick rope
tied across the river.
8. How to climb steep mountains?
• They first obsrve the rocks carefully to
identify holds - places where they can
put their hands and feet.
• While climbing the steep mountains
mountaineers should keep their body at
an angle of 90 degree and back straight.
• Rapling is the special way of coming
down using the rope.
