Mountainbikingasia.com was conceived in the fall of 1984 when
Tim Obendorf and a small band of adventures cycled from Hong Kong
to Shanghai. Since then we have specialized with bike and hiking tours
around Asia catering to individuals, families or schools.
Four Sisters, Sichuan, W.China
• Tour Managers are from the USA, France, Brazil and Hong Kong

Cycling along “Castle Lane” – these “castle” houses are unique to this
part of China. In Chinese they are called “Diao Lou”

Extensive research has the majority of our village to
village riding safely taking place on non-motor trafficked
paths, greenways & trails.

Support vehicles remain on-road whilst the MTB group have the
flexibility to explore the smaller trails
Most of the 1800 or so Diao Lou towers are based upon a mix of
European, American & Middle Eastern inspired architecture.
Both rice and peanuts are harvested throughout the summer
months with the locals always grateful of a few extra hands!
The fortress style towers were built not just as a show of affluence
but also as safe havens for villagers when bandit attacks were rife.
A predominantly flat landscape provides excellent cycling & rice
growing opportunities..

Foundation we will work with the North Guangdong
Model Farm alongside the Yao people. A project of
empowerment as well as service in poorer areas and
schools. Resource and Environment education is
incorporated in this time.

• We will start our cycling in the Jiu Long Crags area in the
middle of Guangdong province.
In this region we will visit a memorial to a refugee site as well as
have an opportunity to visit a local village school.
