2. Definition
◦ It is a type of osteoarthritis involving the spine of body due to degeneration of intervertebral
disc and the posterior facet joint leading to local pain is spasm radiculopathy and Vertigo.

◦ Neck stiffness
◦ neck pain
◦ severe radicular pain
◦ Paresthesia
◦ Numbness
◦ Weakness muscles
◦ Vertigo
◦ Neck movement are restricted due to pain

◦ History collection
◦ Physical examination
◦ Cervical spine X -ray
◦ M.R.I

5. Management
◦ Conservative management
◦ Hot moist application
◦ Cervical Collar to restrict movement
◦ Traction
◦ Anti inflammatory drug
◦ Muscle Relaxant
◦ Vitamin supplement
◦ Cervical excercise

6. Surgical management
◦ Disectomt or Cord compression

7. Nursing management
◦ Place the patient in supine position
◦ Apply collar or traction if ordered
◦ Administer medications if order
◦ Assess for neurological function like pain and presence of other symptom
◦ Teach patients regarding –
◦ Application of of collar
◦ exercise
◦ sign in symptom of neurological deficit
◦ Avoiding activities which exert more strain over concsica region.
