2. DEFINOTION :
It is a disorder of posterior lobe of pituitary gland
characterised by a deficiency of anti -diuretic
hormone (ADH) that leads to polyuria ,Polydypsia.
3. CAUSES :
• Head Trauma
• Head tumor
• Brain Tumor
• Surgical ablation or Irradiation of pituitary gland
• Nephrogenic factors eg; Hypercalcemia, Hypokalemia
• CNS Infections eg; Menengitis, Encephaltis, T.B
• Metastatics Disease
4. SIGN AND SYMPTOMS :
• Marked Ployuria 5 to 20 liter per day
• Polydypsia 4 to 20 liter per day
• Sleep disturbance due to polyuria
• Mental dulness
• Weight loss
• Shock
• Craving of cold water
• Irritability
• Constipation
• Tachycardia
6. MEDICAL MANAGEMENT
• To provide antibiotic therapy in case of infection of central nervous system.
• Proper appropriate treatment of Renal disease
• Administe desmopressin
• Hypolipidemic agent.
• Thiazide diuretics prostaglandin inhibitor( Ibuprofen ,Aspirin ) should be given
according to symptoms of nephrogenic type.
• Maintain intake-output chart.
