2. Admitting patients on to your ward or clinical
area is your opportunity to get to know a
patient and should always be conducted in a
warm and friendly manner. It should never
be forgotten that you are representing your
organisation and your conduct should be
professional at all times.

the self-care activities that people are able
or unable to perform; ADLs are our
functional status in key areas of ‘living’
The ADLs also incorporate biological,
psychological, sociocultural, environmental
and politico-economic factors.

cyclical process (never
static) that enables the
nurse to plan
individualised nursing
care for the patient. This
planning is initiated from
the information gathered
from the nursing
admission.
