host the Closing the Hunger Gap: Cultivating Food Justice
Conference.
The Closing the Hunger Gap Conference served as a forum
for an open dialogue on how to end hunger and improve the
food system. Over the course of the three-day event,
attendees had the opportunity to participate in courses, listen
to guest speakers, and exchange resources with other
advocates.
3. Closing the Hunger Gap
Trips to community food system innovators fostered
networking and provided an opportunity to explore proven
solutions.
The conference aimed to strengthen community and
organizational ties, as well as to unify advocates involved with
anti-hunger and food justice initiatives. Hosted at the Double
Tree Hotel in Portland, Oregon, the Closing the Hunger Gap
Conference took place from September 13-16. Registration
fees included admission to all regular conference events, four
meals, and one reception. Additional payment was required in
order to attend special event courses and trips.
