1. SAMR
Substitution
Instead of having the students make a model of the mission they choose, I can have them
make a PowerPoint, Prezi, slides, etc. of that mission. The students can present and share what is
special about that particular mission.
Augmentation
With the students PowerPoint presentations, I can ask them to put links into the
presentation. The students can add music that would have been heard on the mission. The
students could also add in virtual tours during the presentation.
Modification
Have students create their presentations in google slides, then allow everyone in class to
view each others project. I would also give the students a series of questions to answer that they
can then answer on each project. Questions like “what was unique about this mission?” “Do you
notice any similarities to your mission?” “What did you like about the presentation?” These
questions and answers would be posted for each presentation.
Redefinition
I can have the students turn that presentation into a video. The students can pick a video
editing software of their choice, then record themselves telling the audience about the mission.
The students would be aloud to have pictures, conduct a video tour, uses sketches in their video,
and have music. Once their video is complete, the students will publish and make the video
public on YouTube. Publishing the video on YouTube would allow the students videos to be
seen around the world, and they could also hear from people who have never heard of California
missions.
