A shadow is the dark shape
made when something
blocks light. ... Even the
earth makes a shadow,
called an umbra, which can
cause a lunar eclipse when
the conditions are right and
the moon moves through it.
The moon usually looks like
it's lit up at night because it
reflects light from the sun.

7. Why does a shadow come in our
daily life?
When we are outside on a sunny day, we can see
how our shadows change
throughout the day. The Sun's position in the sky
affects the length of the shadow.
When the Sun is low on the horizon, the shadows
are long. ... When the Sun makes long and
short shadows outdoors, it is the Earth,
not the light source (Sun), that moves.

10. An Umbra
The umbra (Latin for "shadow") is
the innermost and darkest part of a
shadow, where the light source is
completely blocked by the
occluding body. An observer in the
umbra experiences a total eclipse.

11. An Penumbra
When something gets in the path of
the sun, it creates a shadow called the
umbra, but it also makes a lighter
shadow called the penumbra. In the
picture of the Sun and a Moon, you
can see that directly in front of the
Moon is the umbra.

12. An Antumbra
Antumbra. The antumbra (from
Latin ante, "before") is the region
from which the occluding body
appears entirely within the disc of
the light source. An observer in this
region experiences an annular
eclipse, in which a bright ring is
visible around the eclipsing body.

Take the stones you brought and
put them in an order. Then take
the torchlight and put it beside
all the stones. Take the stick and
you will see a shadow coming.
How is it formed ?

17. Correct, it is formed by opaque
objects that come in between the light
source and the screen (which can be
ground, wall etc.). Shadow
formation reveals that light always
travels in a straight line and the
portion through which light can't pass
through becomes dark, which is
called shadow.
