8. I have decided to use this image because
it represents a girl rock band which will
convey to the audience that my magazine
is targeted towards females. The girls in
the image are posing and using hand
gestures that are used by rock bands
which represents rock. Another reason
why I have chosen this photo is because
the clothing is quite dark and aren’t
bright and vibrant which conveys the rock
style and represents the genre. The
location is quite desolate and gloomy
which portrays the genre because it’s
serious rather than colourful and
uplifting. The shot is a long shot so the
models are shown from head to toe so we
can see they clothes and the hand
gestures.
9. I have used this image for my front cover
because it represents rock and the fashion
within the genre. The leather jacket and the use
of black is quite a stereotypical look within rock
music and therefore people will easily recognise
my front cover as rock. The colour black is
heavily associated with rock music and
represents the genre. I have chosen this photo
also because Megan is a girl and represents the
gender of which I am targeting towards.
Another reason is because this image is a
medium close up which would work very well
with the front page for space to put cover lines
over. This shot is used with most front covers
and so I am following the codes and
conventions by choosing this image. The
background is completely plain as well which
allows for writing to go over the image without
looking overcrowded and busy.
10. I have decided to use this image because it
represents another girl rock band and therefore
conveys the gender of my target audience. The
clothes they are wearing are rock influenced
because of the dark colours. Their expressions
are very moody which follows the stereotype that
rock musicians are very serious and the black eye
makeup increases the intensity of their mood.
Therefore, I have chosen this image because it
follows the codes and conventions as it follows
the stereotype of rock musicians with the mood
and makeup. The guitar in the photo represents
rock music too because it’s an instrument that’s
used heavily in this genre.
11. For the double page spread, I have
decided to use this image because it’s
very bold. The white background
contrasts with their black outfits which
makes the photo stand out and look
effective. The expressions on the girls
faces are very serious and moody
which fits the stereotype of musicians
in this genre being quite aggressive
and angry. The shot is a long shot
which means head to toe of their
outfits are shown. This helps represent
the genre of rock. The viewpoint is eye
level too which I think intensifies the
models expressions as it’s like they’re
staring right at you. I have chosen this
photo for the double page spread
because they are the same girl group
on my contents that I have labelled as
the main feature of the magazine. This
image also represents the gender of
my magazine target audience which is
a reason I have chosen it.
