Editor's Notes
Okay, it’s 1:00 pm Eastern Time, so we’re going to get started.
Thanks for being with us today. I’m Samantha Imburgia, with ALA Publishing, and we’re happy to be bringing you today’s American Libraries Live episode: The Opioid Epidemic and Libraries: Challenges, Resources, and More with Chera Kolawski and Cindy Grove.
You can use the chat area to interact with the presenters and your fellow attendees. The chat space is on the right side of your screen. You’ll see that some chat has already occurred in the area. You can chat in that space at any time.
If you do not see the chat window, please hit the “Chat” icon in the upper right-hand corner of your screen.
If you have technical questions during the event—questions about audio, or trouble using Webex, we ask that you private chat Host. We will help you personally without interrupting other discussion in chat.
To private chat us, simply click on the pull-down window in the chat space that says “send to”, and select the user “Host”. Then type your chat, and it will go directly to us.
Feel free to type your questions as you have them. We will answer questions as they relate to the discussion and will also have time for Q&A at the end of today’s webinar.
To ask our panelists questions during this webinar, type your question into the chat space, making sure that the “Send to” box is set to “all participants.” You can chat your question at any time.
Please keep in mind that we might not get to every single question.
As you’ve probably already noticed, you have two options for your audio today. You can stream the audio and listen via your computer speakers, or you can call in and listen through the phone. Please note that our call-in number is not a toll-free number.
If you’d like to call in rather than using the audio broadcast, you just need Go to “Communicate” at the top of your screen and select “Audio Connection.” Then click “I will call In.”
A number will pop up and you can call in.
If your audio breaks up or drops out during the presentation, you can always re-connect by either hanging up or closing your audio broadcast window, then clicking “Communicate” at the top of your screen and selecting either “Audio Connection” and then selecting either “I will call In” or “Call Using Computer.”
Please remember that in order to disconnect and reconnect the audio broadcast, you must hit the “Disconnect Audio” Button from the “Audio Connection Menu.”
If you are listening through the audio broadcast and you notice an echo, make sure that you do not have two audio broadcast windows open simultaneously. If you do, simply close one. Please note that the Internet Audio quality can be affected by any number of factors in network speed or traffic. If you are having trouble, try clicking disconnect and then reconnecting.
We have a twitter hashtag for today’s webinar. It’s #ALLive
We are recording this presentation. Within a day, you will receive an email with a link the slides and the archive recording, full audio and video record, including chat.
We are running a special offer on our upcoming workshop Dealing with Substance Abust in the Library: A Guide to Helping Patrons and the Community. You can use the coupon code you see here to save 10%. No need to jot this down now, we’ll include it in our follow up email.
We’re happy to have Chera Kowalski and Cindy Grove with us for today’s webinar.
Chera is the adult/ten librarian at the McPerson Square Library branch of the Free library of Philadelphia.
Cindy Grove is the director of Rockport Public Library in Massachussets.
