Introduction: Ancient Egypt is located in Africa. It has the longest river in the world called the Nile. It also has a
desert across it.
Mummies
If he or she died and had a lot of money they would put food and drinks in their coffin because they say it’s for
their journey. If you had not much money you would have holes on your coffin and no food or drinks in there.
Pharaohs
For 3,000 years Egypt was ruled by about one hundred and seventy different
pharaohs. A pharaoh is a god-king that ruled Egypt.
Pyramids
Pyramids were built for pharaohs. When they died they were placed deep down
in there. Pyramids were built out of limestone blocks layer by layer to make it.
Hieroglyphics
Hieroglyphics is also known as sacred carving; Egyptians say it’s a gift by the god of wisdom. Ancient Egyptians
were one of the first people to write things down in hieroglyphics in three thousand and five hundred BC. The
people who could read and write in hieroglyphics are scribes. Scribes started off poor. Parents needed money
to send their boys to school to become scribes. When they were sent to school they learnt how to write in
hieroglyphics and could then get a good job.

Poor children didn’t have much time to play because they were working along with their parents but they play
games at times. Games included were tug a war, leap frog and ball games. The adults played the ball games
with their children too. Female girls at twelve years of age were getting married between the ages of fourteen
and twenty were getting married if they could support a family by themselves.
Mummification
In ancient Egypt not just humans got mummified, they also mummified animals like cats, dogs, crocodiles and
more animals. When pharaohs died their liver, stomach, intestines and lungs were put into four canopic jars.
They were sealed up and put in their own special boxes for them. Ancient Egyptians loved their cats so much
when it died they shaved its eyebrows off because they were sad.
Make up
Our eyeliner today was used in Ancient Egypt but there one was called kohl. Male and female wore make up to
protect their skin from burning from the sun.
