  1. 1. The Ancient Egyptians lived between the years 4000BC and500BC, in the dry, hot country along the River Nile.

  3. 3. Every July, the river floodedand the farmers grew theircrops in rich, fertile mudwhich the flood left behind.
  4. 4. It is the name of a mythical beast that theEgyptians portrayed in stone. It has the body ofa lion and the head of a person.It is the name of the massive triangularbuilding that were built in Egypt thousands ofyears ago.
  5. 5. Most Egyptian children didnt go to school. Boyslearned from their fathers trade and girlshelped their mothers. Rich children had a tutoror went to school .They learned to read andwrite on paper made from papyrus reeds. Theyused picture writing called hieroglyphics.
  6. 6. THE EGYPTIANSTREETS WEREFILTHY BECAUSEPEOPLE THREW THERUBBISH TO THESTREETS. THE HOUSES WERE SEVERAL FLOORS UP BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT MUCH SPACE FOR BUILDDING DUE TO THE NARROW VALLEY OF THE RIVER NILE.
  7. 7. Ancient Egyptian houses had mud bricks. Houses had several floors becausethe river Nile was very narrow.
  8. 8. People in Egypt loved hunting birds and enjoying themselves.Egyptians knew about the heart and nervous system. They passedtheir knowledge from dads to sons.
  9. 9. Inside the tomb wereclothes, weapons, furniture andtreasures the king needed for his life after death.
  10. 10. • When the king died, his body was preserved and wrapped in linen. Thiswas called a mummy.
  11. 11. The burial of a king• The king was buried 70 days after death. His funeral procession included priests, priestesses and paid mourners
  12. 12. Sometimes robbers would try to break into thesealed tomb and steal the treasures which were buried with the king.
