Stoptober Case Study
Health Service
Overview
In August 2013 we were approached by one of our agency partners to provide an inbound daily calendar SMS
service for the NHS.
The idea the NHS campaign planning team had was that you could join a stop smoking program and then
recieve support text messages up to 5 times a day for 28 days to help you quit for good.
“2.5 million messages left Campaign Manager in 59 days to support the NHS Stoptober Campaign.”
These support messages would need to be triggered when a person texted in a keyword to join the programme
and this persons messages would need adding to a database to automate ALL future messages for the entire
30 day programme.
Using the Advanced Calendar script functionality within the So-Mo-Lo Platform we were able to add all
programme joiners into a simple SQL database that then automated the times of the day the messages needed
to go and also the entire 30 day programme.
Given the amount of messages leaving the platform and the speed they needed to be delivered we chose a
dedicated short code and our high volume platform (HVP) to manage the delivery process in super quick time
avoiding delays and improving the customer experience.
2.5 million messages left the So-Mo-Lo Platform in 59 days to
support the NHS Stoptober Campaign.
