3. BACKGROUND
• He got the call from Mr.Tushman. At first he didn’t want to help but
then he learned that Julian was going so he decided to go. He felt bad
for August because of what Jamie had done in the park. When he got
to the school he started talking to Charlotte and Julian. The tour went
well for everyone.
• He had a babysitter named Veronica. She took Jack and Jamie to the
park one day, that was Jack’s first time seeing August. They left in a
hurry because Jack gasped and Veronica didn’t want Jamie to yell at
August or start to scream and cry.
4. BACKGROUND CONTINUED
• In the end August was Jack’s best friend.
• On the first day of school, Jack was sat by August in every one of his
classes.
5. MINOR CHARACTER
Ever since he was introduced during the tour of the
school, he has been mentioned in almost every chapter.
He is also always on August’s side which involves him
more in the story. Yet Jack has his own personality that
separates him from the rest of the book. He’s funny and
kind. He is always willing to help others no matter who
they are. The thing that makes him only a minor character
though, is that August was the only reason he was there.
6. DYNAMIC CHARACTER
• Over the course of the story, Jack learned to not care
about what other people think. He hung out with August
more and more in front people because he didn’t care. At
one point in time he did blame Mr.Tushman for making
him hang out with August but he was devastated to find
that August found out. They became friends again but
everyone turned against him. He had to make a choice
between Julian or August. If he were the way he started
out in the book he would of chosen Julian but instead he
chose August.
7. ROUND CHARACTER
We know a lot about Jack’s personality and
about how he feels about everything. This
is why Jack could be considered a round
character.
