Personality is the characteristic
patterns of thoughts, feelings, and
behaviors that make a person
unique. It is believed that
personality arises from within the
individual and remains fairly
consistent throughout life.
BIG 5 MODEL OF
PERSONALITY
Many contemporary personality psychologists believe that there
are five basic dimensions of personality, often referred to as the
"Big 5" personality traits. These five primary personality traits are
extraversion (also often spelled extroversion), agreeableness,
openness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism
This suggests a person's
desire to complete the
task perfectly.
Conscientiousness is the
dimension used to
evaluate a person's
diligence, effectiveness,
and capacity for
organisation.
Conscientiousness
The extraversion
component determines
whether a person is
more receptive to social
encounters or would
rather keep things quiet.
Extraversion
The intellect or
creativity of a person is
referred to in the
Openess dimension.
This factor is used to
evaluate a person's
creativity and motivation
toAdapt to discover
novel ideas.
Openness
This gauges a person's
capacity for unpleasant
feelings like wrath and
anxiety. In other words,
neuroticism assesses a
person's capacity for
emotional control.
Neuroticism
This trait denotes the
presence or lack of
social harmony. Being
pleasant is seen as a
sign of reliability,
helpfulness, and
willingness to make
sacrifices for the
greater good.
