Paragon Learning Styles Inventory (PLSI) & Student Leadership Practice Inventory
PLSI gives the most important information in terms of personal quality and character in various people. In my own assessment, I am a sensate, a judger and an extrovert person. Firstly, being a sensate, I am a practical and realistic person, more consistent and patient. Above all I am orderly sensible man who applies common sense and experiences such as daily practices and order in all my activities. On the other hand, I am also a judger due to my decisive nature, I embrace scheduled events, have set opinions, and likes order and organization. Lastly, as an extrovert, I learn things by practically doing them, I readily volunteers, and gives opinion and most importantly acting as a leading example to the rest. This assessment on my personal character is based on my self-evaluation as a soccer captain in the campus (Sloterdijk, 2013).
As team leader of my soccer team, I lead as an example which is very critical to my leadership skills. I usually show up timely to training and many times stayed there until late. I was willing to do everything. I was not that nice person to wipe the floor or very calm to yell inspirations words to a newcomer. I recognized that my actions spoke louder than words, therefore in most instances I showed people what to do by leading as an example rather telling them what to do. It is this practical example that defines my character better as a judger, a sensate, and an extrovert person.
As good leaders I do arise for my beliefs, thus I would better have my beliefs to arise for. As a leaders, I am vivid and concise regarding my guiding principles. I have my personal voice, and as well I vividly and genuinely give voice to my ideals. Nevertheless I cannot basically execute my beliefs on others and expect commitment. I do involve others in common ambitions. Acting as a good example starts with the clarification of my ideals and includes building and asserting common beliefs that all can hold (Sloterdijk, 2013).
According the description of Tieger on temperament results, I can ascertain that I am in a “traditionalist” category. This is reinforced due to my strong connection of being a judger and a senser. Furthermore, I clearly belief that expressive speeches regarding shared ideals are not virtually adequate (Sloterdijk, 2013). As a role model I recognize that it’s my conduct that earns my esteem. The actual test is whether I do what I talk abo.

4. Preferred Leadership Style
The latest study by Deloitte suggests that up to 86% of business
leaders and human resource rate being a leader is one of their
most challenging tasks (Hudson, 2017). Leadership is essential
to any business success as agreed by 92% of the respondents in
a survey conducted by Hudson Company. Therefore, a leader is
very useful to a company, and he or she will be more helpful if
the best strategies are put in place. A leadership strategy is
responsible for providing the link between what the
organization aims at achieving and what the firm's people
require in order to get there. Leaders can choose among the
traits of a framework so as to be effective within an
organization.
Industrial engineering being my future profession, I may
prefer structural leadership as my frame. This is because
structural administration can be enduring and influential if it is
extra subtle than other forms as stated by Lee G. Bolman. The
structural frame is primarily concerned with the architecture of
the firm (Defoe, 2013). This will entail structure, goals, roles
and relationships, technology and coordination of them.
Thinking of an organization chart, labor division,
responsibilities, procedures, rules, hierarchies, systems among
others which coordinate a firm's diverse activities into a joined-
up exercise relate to this frame.
The threats for companies and their leaders’ entails
maintaining, aligning and designing structural shape with the
existent conditions, technology, goals, environment, and task.
5. Problems come up when the structure doesn't line up. Therefore,
as a leader, it will be an obligation to make new things happen
and seek innovative ideas, search for opportunities, experiment
and take risks in order to challenge the process. Look for ways
for individuals to change, to grow, to improve so they can get
extraordinary things done.
Redesigning will be the remedy in case of misalignment (Defoe,
2013). A rational analysis will induce the implementation and
development of job and work roles and suitable reorganization
and integration of group and lone efforts. Most important role
of a shared vision is to give focus to human energy – yours and
your constituents. A vision demonstrates the leader's concern
for creating long-term value. A leader needs to know where the
organization is going before they can determine how to get
there. Using this frame is more efficient because the leader will
be like acting as an architect or analyst unlike the other
structures; human resource, political and symbolic.
The structural frame will interest of the individuals rather than
the organization's interests (Smith, 2012). Being in the
engineering industry, a technological and structural culture, the
company will do well as decisions based on this frame generates
excellent outcomes. An example of a company that has become
successful due to this frame is the United Parcel Service as it
has structural and technological culture.
The structure will be of help because industrial engineering is
flexible and this type of frame is ideal. The disadvantage of this
structural frame is that it has risk because it ignores everything
falling outside the rational breadth of jobs, policies,
organization charts and procedures. Too much relying on this
structural frame can have a negative impact towards innovation,
thus making the organization less resilient and become more
rigid. Leadership being a transformational process, it increases
employees motivation, satisfaction, and performance by means
of altering their values, desires, and beliefs (Ambar, 2015). It
will be difficult for employees to come up with innovative ideas
and they will be reluctant to accept one-sided decisions while
6. working under a leader with this structural mindset and this may
reduce their satisfaction at work.

2017Core Values/Mission Statement
7. Core values are among the main important parameters that
always contribute towards future development of various
individuals. My core values mainly consist of a variety of
various issues that have always enabled me to operate
efficiently towards the shaping of my future. These core values
mainly consist of productivity, family, ambition, confidence,
friendship, hard work, trustworthy, being thankful and finally
staying motivated at all times in terms of carrying out various
forms of activities. On the other hand, there are various ways
that me as an individual I have always considered to be my
areas of strength which have always kept me moving at all times
thus making me to archive various goals.
Working hard has always been among the key areas of my
strength, in each and every activity that I do what I always look
forward is putting much effort and working hard towards
achieving a specific goal as far as that that activity is
concerned. What is more interesting is that I always find myself
getting interested in the other people when they too decide to
implement the parameter of working hard. This has always made
me to believe that when and individual has decided to work hard
and work smart towards a specific goal then he or she can never
go unrewarded no matter how long it will take.
Motivation is another area of my strength. I always find it very
interesting to be motivated effectively as this always enables me
to realize the importance of my presence when it comes to
8. working hard it terms of archiving a positive gain. In most
cases, I have always found myself performing extremely well
after receiving some forms of motivation. In addition,
motivation has always enabled me to realize what kind of a
person I am and what I am capable of coming up with.
On the other hand, I also have some of my areas of
improvement where I would always like to improve on so as to
ensure some efficient outcome. On the other hand, these areas
of improvement always contribute towards the scaling up of a
specific individual. When it comes to improvement, friendship
is one of the things that I consider to be an area of improvement
where I need to apply much efforts and some sorts of
psychological work which will enable me to be capable of
studying and choosing reasonable friends whom we can share
with a common goal in life. These areas of improvement should
always be considered with a lot of keenness so as to enable us
to come up with the most appropriate solutions. In conclusion,
core values are more important and they can always make us to
scale up from one point of life to the other thus they should
always not be neglected by individuals.

PLSI & Temperament
9. PLSI results can clearly provide much sensitive information
regarding different types of characters that are possessed by an
individual. According to my view and analysis, my PLSI results
clearly revolves around being extrovert, sensate, thicker and
judger. First and for most being an extrovert person brings on
board so much information regarding the kind of a person that I
am right from my character to my ways of action. Apparently, I
am a kind of an individual that can be described as an outgoing
simply because in very many occasions I have always found
myself attending several social events including parties with my
friends. This clearly shows how attached I am when it comes to
living a social life thus ‘Extrovert’ is the best word that can be
used to describe this situation which falls under PLSI results.
In addition, when it comes to being a ‘sensate’ kind of a
person, this is where I can prove it beyond no reasonable doubt
that I am that kind of a person who is always perceived by
various types of senses which has gone further to affect both my
way of thinking and my actions under certain conditions. Being
sensate has made me to be more realistic when it comes to
dealing with specific types of issues either directly or indirectly
(Shindler, 2009). My PLSI results about being a thicker person
eventually reveals my actions when it comes to carrying out
unfair activities. Lastly, my PLSI results on being a ‘judger’
shows what type of a person I am in terms of making serious
conclusions which are always relevant and fair at all costs. In
addition, I feel that being a judger has made me to be more time
10. conscious in terms of coming up with the right decision that is
able to bring a positive impact in various situations involving
decision making processes.
When it comes to temperaments, it is much clear that different
people are capable of having different natures. Throughout the
entire history, different people in different professions have
been able to come up with a conclusion that there are some four
specific distinct ‘natures’ into which each and every individual
can be able to fit in. In addition, David Keirsey who was one of
the greatest psychologists was deeply impressed by the fact that
all these four different types of temperaments that are
effectively observed by various people originating from diverse
cultures, all was able to effectively describe similar
characteristics.
Talking about my temperament results, I am glad to state that I
fall under the category of ‘traditionalists’. This is supported by
the fact that under various circumstances I always value both
‘sensing’ and ‘judging’. Moreover, I am that kind of an
individual who always value various types of law, order and
even matters pertaining security (Sloterdijk, 2013). Being
orderly has always been my objective in each and every activity
that I do.
Secondly my temperament result focuses much in the category
of the ‘experiencers’ since for a very long time I have always
preferred ‘sensing’ and ‘perceiving’ where I have always been
capable of coming up with the appropriate required results
which are more effective and reasonable. I am always concerned
of remembering and concentrating on those types of issues and
activities that can always be felt and seen at the same time
documentation of various types of results and outcomes has
been among the important parameters that I always keep at my
finger tips to ensure adequate outcome under various
circumstances. I have always chosen to stay open in most of my
activities and due to this I have always found it much easier to
work in various types of environments regardless of the type of
people found within those environments. Being an experiencer
11. has enabled to focus on the current situation where I am always
able to access various issues that can be handled at the present
time, throughout my experience, I seldom chose on the various
types of activities that are always there to impose a variety of
rules under various situations.
Finally, being an ‘idealist’ is one of the most crucial
temperamental results that I have been able to possess in an
adequate way, this is simply because in most occasions I have
been able to prefer both intuition and feeling. Being true to
myself has been one of the most important issues that I have
been able to carry out leading to a situation of placing a higher
value of integrity in various types of individuals.
In terms of personality and work preference, I would like to
state categorically that being a traditionalist has been able to
portray my personality and work preference most so in the field
of industrial engineering where there is the need to be capable
of serving adequately and doing the right thing that in the long
run will bring a positive outcome. In addition, I have been able
to be more practical in terms of solving issues that are related
with industrial engineering, systematic analysis of issues has
also been on the verge towards producing a quality work when
it comes to industrial engineering. Being an ‘experiencer’ as a
test results has also been capable of portraying my personality
and work preference since I have been able to focus on the
issues that can be accomplished currently making me to always
try as much as possible to be free and act on my impulses
accordingly when it comes to following the stipulated rules and
regulations.
There were no surprising results at all, the results that are stated
above are adequately in line with my chosen profession when it
comes to dealing with issues that are related with industrial
engineering. In conclusion, the results were perfectly in line
with my core values and what is more important to me is that
the best policy in all situations is always honestly and in most
occasions effective trust always has to be earned so as to come
up with the most appropriate outcome.

Personal Strategic Leadership Plan Assignment
The culminating assignment for this course should be a practical
application of what you have learned about yourself and
leadership. It should include your values, vision, and mission
for the future in your vocation, life role, and/or volunteer work.
You may choose to begin your paper with a description of
yourself including, but not limited to, your personality type,
temperament, and preferred leadership style(s). You may want
to review your past readings, papers, and discussions to
organize your thoughts. Next, you should describe your future
plans for leadership. Since this is a personal plan, you should
choose your leadership topic. It could focus on a short-term or
long-term project you are working on, an opportunity for
leadership (volunteer or paid), your goals for personal
leadership capacity and building at home or with family and
friends, future career or vocational goals, or even short-term
plan at school.
The length of the paper should be between 5-6 pages, double-
spaced, 12 font. You are encouraged to use some of the writing
you have already completed in your writing assignments when
writing this paper. For instance you have already written about
your personality type - you can and should use this information
13. in this final paper.
Below are some questions for you to ponder while writing your
paper. Points will be given for covering the majority of these
questions. It is not necessary to answer them all as they may
not all apply to your particular situation or context.
What were your PLSI and temperament results? What roles do
they have in your future leadership? Where were your strengths
and weaknesses in your SLPI results? What would you like to
be better able to do? What actions would you like to take?
How will you improve your leadership skills? What obstacles
will you face? What can you do about those obstacles? What
feedback did you receive from others that may be helpful?
What did you learn about yourself in this course? What do you
now see as your strengths? What do you now see as your areas
for improvement? On which practices do you think you need to
work the most (model the way, inspire a shared vision,
challenge the process, enable others to act, encourage the
heart)? How will you know when your goals have been
achieved? And, lastly based on your experience, which
leadership practice and behaviors will be your next priority and
why?
The rubric: 20 - 25 points The topic is clearly stated and fully
developed. The paper reflects thoughtful insight and integration
of readings and discussions from class, and applies several
theories and concepts to personal context. Specific examples of
the change initiative are provided as well as practical
suggestions for improvement. The paper is well written, and
reflects proper grammar, punctuation and spelling. Proper credit
is given in citations.
13-19 points The topic is clearly stated but not fully developed.
There is some reflection but it lacks creative or intellectual
thought. Class readings and/or discussions are not adequately
14. integrated or developed or applied to practice. The paper
reflects some grammar, punctuation and spelling errors.
6-12 points The paper reflects some insight and exploration of
the topic but lacks integration of the class readings and
discussions. The paper reflects personal views but does not
sufficiently reflect differing opinions or insight on the topic.
1–5 points There is little or no insight on the topic. The paper
lacks focus and any integration of class readings or discussions.
The paper lacks a proper introduction, development of the topic,
relevance to the big picture, and concluding thoughts.
0 points or less No paper is handed in. It is plagiarized or
unintelligible.
