1. How does pre-production work support the overall
effectiveness of a production?
The whole point of pre-production work is so that you can go into making and
producing your media productknowing exactly what you’redoing down to the
smallest detail. Pre-production allows you to try things to see how they work
without it having to change things with a dramatic effect on costand time.
When creating all of the pre-production work its essential that the producers
keep revising their work. The firstdraft they do will never be the bestand can
always be improved. This is most important in stages such as storyboarding,
page mock ups and scripts as once you say you’vefinished them that is whatis
going to be in your final media work. You can’t change it after you’ve
submitted them. That’s why it’s important during pre-production that you
keep improving your ideas and work until it’s the best it can be.
It’s importantthat as a producer you can visualiseexactly whatyou wantand
how you expect it to plan out. This way you can keep coming up with new
ideas that can improve your originalones but also look at the final productand
review whether that’s how you wanted it to be.
Making sureeverything is organised during the filming of a media production is
key. When everything is organised it’s much easier to plan your schedule out
so you know whereeverything is. Also during filming it’s important that
everyoneknows whatthey’redoing but also making surethat you have all the
equipment that you need to film including cameras, props and costumes.
