AIM:
The paper deals with a battery charger integrated into the traction hardware of an electric
scooter, for recharging the scooter batteries by means of a single-phase AC source. And Solar
panels on the top chassis.
ABSTRACT:
A Mechanical switch and a rectifier bridge are the only additional components required to
transform the electric scooter powertrain into a PFC battery charger, suitable for current-
controlled or voltage-controlled recharge. The AC current is controlled at unitary power factor
with no harmonic distortion. Switching harmonics are also drastically reduced by means of
phase-interleaving. The battery charge is regulated according to the requests of the battery
monitor system (BMS) that is embedded into the battery packs. The effectiveness of the
integrated battery charger is demonstrated here on an electric scooter with high voltage Li-Ion
battery (260 V) and DC/DC/AC power conversion scheme. The integrated PFC charger concept
is also valid for electric vehicles with AC traction drives based on a direct DC/AC conversion
scheme, as demonstrated throughout the paper.
DESCRIPTION:
Electric motorcycles and scooters are plug-in electric vehicles with two or three
wheels powered by electricity. The electricity is stored on board in a rechargeable battery,
which drives one or more electric motors. Electric scooters (as distinct from motorcycles)
have a step-through frame.
Electric scooters: the primary commercial production supplier for worldwide markets, is Z
Electric Vehicle. The BMW C Evolution electric scooter was released in Germany in May
2014.[6] Honda participated in European lease demonstration and driving tests for its electric
scooter in 2012 but has not yet announced its availability for sale.
What ever existed models does not contains Solar panel our model contains solar
charging.
Power source
Most electric motorcycles and scooters today are powered by rechargeable lithium ion
batteries, though some early models used nickel-metal hydride batteries. Scooter maker Z
Electric Vehicle has pioneered use of a lead/sodium silicate battery (a variation on the
classic lead acidbattery invented in 1859, still prevalent in automobiles) that compares
favorably with lithium batteries in size, weight, and energy capacity, at less cost

Charging
All electric scooters and motorcycles provide for recharging by plugging into ordinary wall
outlets, usually taking about eight hours to recharge (i.e. overnight).

It can be used places where, fuel based vehicles are banned due to production of
pollution and noise

Unlike regular BIKES, solar energy powered cars are able to utilize their full power at
any speed.
Solar powered cars do not require any expense for running.
Conclusion:
The solar vehicle solves many problems related to the environment and is the best pollution
free method. We need to make use of them so that we can reduce our dependence on fossil
fuels. Solar vehicles do have some disadvantages like small speed range, initial cost is high.
Also, the rate ofconversion of energy is not satisfactory.
