4. Introduction
Today Pakistan is facing a lot of social
problems
but some are very common in Pakistan, which
are destroying our society and also economy
of
Pakistan.
Child labour is a global issue.
Child labour is one of the most common
problems in Asia and also in Pakistan
5. What is Child Labour?
Child Labour” is work for children that harms
them or exploits them in some way e.g.
Physically
Mentally
morally or blocking access to education
6. Child Labour in Pakistan
In Pakistan children aged 5-14 are above 40 million. During the last year, the Federal Bureau
of Statistics released the results of its survey funded by ILO’s IPEC. The findings were that
3.8 million children age group of 5-14 years are
working in Pakistan out of total 40 million
children in this age group
fifty percent of these economically active children are in age group of 5 to 9 years. Even out
of these 3.8 million economically active children, 2.7 million were claimed to be working
in the agriculture sector. 73% of them were said
to be boys
7. Solution
Awareness must be raised and parents should pay attention to the education of
their children.
Child Labour Laws should be strictly put into practice
8. When students are ready to enter the job market, they
continue to face the influence of gender stereotypes.
During recent decades, increasing numbers of women
have entered the workforce for both personal and
financial reasons
One reason for this gap is that women tend to work in
a rather narrow range of occupations—for instance, as
secretaries, as child-care providers, and in the food
service and health care fields.
Another reason is that women tend to take on the
primary responsibility of caring for the home and
family.
9. Many married women may have hoped that
when they entered the workplace, their
husbands would take on more of the
responsibility for caring for the children and
the home.
For many, however, this hope has not been
realized.
Faye Crosby uses the term jugglers to describe
women who perform both job and family
roles.
10. Employment System
Gendered characteristics: highly sex
segregated by type of work; jobs are
differentially valued (males valued more,
females less), wages are differentially paid
(men make more, women less)
11. Reasons for Job Sex Segregation
Individual Choices and Socialization Theory
Human Capital Theory
Interaction Theory
Institutions/Organization Theory
