CHILD LABOUR
 One of the major problems in india is
“CHILD LABOUR”.
 It is unfair to seek one’s own interest at
the cost of other policies right.

What is child labour?
1. Child labour is violation of human rights
and it is considered to be a “necessary
evil “ in any country in the whole world.
2. It is a socio economic national
problem,which requires close analysis
and practical solutions.
Reasons for child labour
 Family expectations and traditions
 Abuse of child
 Lack of good schools and day care
 Lack of other services ,such as health care
 Un caring attitudes of employers
 Limited choices for women
Child labour hampers their normal and natural
physical,mental,spiritual,intellectual,emtional,moral,a
nd social development,
Children are doing work as domestic servants.
They are employed in hotels,workshops,consrucon
sites etc.,
They are even working in hazardous and unhygienic
forms of labourin manufacturing factories.
How many are there?
61%in Asia,32%in Africa,7%in Latin America,1%in
U.S,Canada,Europe,and other wealthy nations.
In asia,22% of world force is children.In Latin
America,17% of work force is children.26 million child
workers aged 5 and 17 were involved in child labour.
Our of which 171 million were involved in work that by
is nature is hazardous.
Child labour statistics
 One in every six children aged 5 to 17 world wide
is exploited b child labour.
 There are approximately 9 million children
involved in the unconditional works forms of child
labour.
 In sub-saharan Africa around one in three
children are engaged in child labour,representing
69 million children.
 In South Africa,anoher million are engaged in
child labour.
Child labour in india
India accounts for the second highest number
where child labour in the world.
Africa accounts for the highest number of
children employed and exploited.
According to certain experts approximately 10
million bonded child labours are working as
domestic servants in india.
Beyond this there are almost 55 million bonded
children labourers hired across various industries.
Regulation and prohibition act
This was declared by the
parliament on 23
december,1986.
Article 24 of constitution
of India says, "No child
below the age of 14 shall
be employed to work in
any factory”,
It includes prohibition of
employment of children in
certain occupations and
processes.
How can we eliminate child
labor
Abolition of child trafficking
Elimination of poverty
Free and compulsory education
Basic standards of living can reduce problem to a great
extent .
The world bank and international monetary fund can
help in eradicating poverty.
Strict implementation of labor laws is also essential in
order to prevent exploitation.
Conclusion
 Social malady of child labor can be brought under
control, if each individual takes responsibility of
reporting about anyone employing a child below 1
years of age.
 Thus, instead of ignoring, one should find out
about reporting children and how such children
can actually be saved.
 Child labor can be controlled if the government
functions effectively with the support of public.
