A solution is a homogeneous mixture composed of a solvent and one or more solutes. It is a single phase system that is uniform in composition and phase throughout. The particles of solute in a solution cannot be seen by the naked eye and can give color to the solution, while the solution remains stable and does not allow light to scatter or the solute to be separated by filtration. Common examples of solutions include salt water, bath soap dissolved in water, orange juice, coffee, and hair gel.
