2. TYPOGRAHPY IN “THE SHINNG”
The Shining's typography is very bold and simplistic, the titles do no change
theme and are consistently light blue, the simplistic style of the title sequence
could help encourage the viewers to focus more on the on screen footage
rather than the titles, this will engage the audience more. It could be said
however that the boring nature of the text style coincides nicely with the dull
music, “The Shining utilises simplicity in its opening sequence to entice the
viewers to focus on what is happening on screen. The titles are seen by the
audience vertically, the titles start at the top and fade out at the bottom, the
titles that are crediting high profile personnel have their own frame, and only
their name is seen, however when giving thanks to extras, multiple names are
seen scrolling down the screen.
3. TYPOGRAHY IN HALLOWEEN
The first thing we as an audience can interpret from the typography of
“Halloween” is that the titles are coloured orange deliberately to coincide with
a pumpkin, however, the credits are coloured red and orange so this hints that
there is an element of danger present when red is shown. For the most part
of the sequence titles are shown individually and only one name is ever
present, this allows the actors/companys, to gain more attention from the
audience, this is very different to the shining in which “Halloween” wants its
actors and producers to get recognised. As the importance of the
company/actor grows, so does the text with it, for example, at the end the
main producer of the film is shown in large text. The titles are positioned to
the left of the screen next to a pumpkin to blend the text.
