• Genres (subs) help make a theme for a thriller. Genres such as Mystery, Crime,
Psychological, Political and Paranoid are used.
• The atmosphere in thrillers consist of Menace, Violence, Crime and Murder.
• Society is displayed as dark, corrupt and dangerous.
• They use a lot of Narrative Conventions such as Plot Twists, Red Herrings and Cliff
Hangers.
• James Patterson described a thriller as; “Intensity of emotion. Those of apprehension
and exhilaration of excitement and breathlessness. Overall, give a thrill”.
