2. Definition of a Thriller
A thriller is a genre which uses suspense and
tension in a film. Thrillers main reason is to give
the viewer a high level of anticipation, uncertainty
and terror. A thriller is know to be adrenalinerushing and fast-pasted.

3. Context
There are many different sub-genres in a ‘Thriller’, these
are;
• Comedy thriller
• Conspiracy thriller
• Erotic thriller
• Disaster thriller
• Legal thriller
• Political thriller
• Supernatural thriller
• Techno thriller
• Psychological thriller
Thriller also has hybrid genres which is when it blends
two or more genres together, and one of these for example
is the film, ‘The day after tomorrow’, which is a disaster
thriller.

Common subgenres are psychological thrillers, crime thrillers, erotic
thrillers and mystery thrillers. Another common subgenre of thriller is the
spy genre, which deals with fictional espionage. The horror and action
genres often overlap with the thriller. Thrillers normally are
psychological thrillers, crime thriller, erotic thrillers and mystery
thrillers. One more common sub genre of thriller is spy genre, which is to
do with fictional espionage. Often horror and action genres overlap with
the thriller. Thrillers normally are psychological, threatening, mysterious
and sometimes large-scale villainy e.g. espionage, terrorism and
conspiracy, mysterious and sometimes larger-scale villainy like espionage,
