2. The first mummification process is to announce the death of the person. A person is dead!!! Get ready for the mourning period and ceremony!
3. The second mummification process is to embalm the body. Sometimes the embalmer has to step away to get away from the smell!! OH MY GOD, THIS BODY SMELLS!
4. The third mummification process is to remove the brain. As they thought the brain was unimportant, they took a hook and from the body’s nose, hook as much brain as they could.
5. The forth mummification process is to remove the internal organs – the liver, the intestines, the lungs and the stomach. They stored it in canopic jars.
6. The fifth mummification process is to dry the body. The mummy was tilted to let all the liquid run off, and then left to dry in the sun for 40 days.
7. The sixth mummification process is to wrap the body! It was painstaking process. ‘Mummia’ was added to the shroud to glue it all over (that’s where the word, ‘mummy’ came from).
8. The seventh and last mummification process is the final procession. They did the ceremony called, ‘opening of the mouth’. They believed that if they did not do that, the body would not able to sense during the afterlife.
