Metallurgical industry of India
The metallurgical industry in India
can be segmented into various
sub-industries such
as aluminium, Copper, lead, iron,
zinc, steel etc. Among the various
industries,the steel and aluminium
are the key industries that have
displayed a substantial growth in
the past few years
3. Metal finishing is an all-
encompassing term used to
describe the process of placing
some type of metal coating on the
surface of a metallic part, typically
referred to as a substrate. It can also
involve the implementation of a
process for cleaning, polishing or
otherwise improving a surface.
Metal finishing often consists of
electroplating, which is the process
of depositing metal ions onto a
substrate via an electric current
4. SILVER PLATING
The silver has got very wide range
of application.
• It is mostly used for decorative
purposes of ornamental articles,
table wares, gift articles and in
jewelry industries.
• Apart from these decorative uses its
conductivity makes it ideal for

population of diesel engines. Diesel
Engine Cylinder Block are required
either as original equipment or as
replacement parts. The rate of
replacement demand mainly depends
upon the operational conditions and
load pressures on various diesels
engines. The scope of this unit as
ancillary unit to diesel engines
manufacturing unit is very good.
7. Hard chromium Plating
Hard chromium deposits are generally
applied directly to the base metal except
in applications like building up badly
worn-out or undersized parts and where
highly corrosive conditions in service are
involved. In such applications, an
undercoating is nickel is given and for
reclamation work, heavy thickness or
nickel is often applied and after
machining the article is finished with a
thin coating of hard chromium. He nickel
layer provides substantial corrosion
protection to the base metal, however,
the chromium deposits should be at
least 13 microns (0.0005 in) thick for
providing requisite wear resistance. A
thickness or 0.3 to 0.4 mm. (0.012 to
0.015 in) or chromium deposits is
generally the maximum applied for any
purpose, deposits in excess of this are
apt to be brittle.
8. Alloy Steel Casting
Indian railways rail coach Factories, cement
manufactures ore dressing units, fertilizer units
and thermal power plants are constantly in
need of specialized steel castings. The
customers prefer an SSI product because the
cost of SSI products is generally less due to less
overhead expenses. With the of engineering
industries and industrialization India has
become the manufacturing hub for M.M.C. who
are setting up their production units in India for
re-export to their home country, the demand for
such castings has increased dramatically. The
requirement of this product is inherent and
cannot in any way get diluted.
9. Soldering Wire
Soldering wire is used in

Mild Steel Galvanised steel wire
popularly known as galvanised wire
have extensive application in various
field. It has got excellent demand in
prestressed concrete product like
railway sleeper, telegraph and
telephone, electric pole etc. and also
find ample application in pre-casted
cement product like pipes, frames of
door and windows etc. On the other
hand it has its own market in the field
of strands and also its domestic
demand can not be ignored. The M.S.
Wire are drawn to required dia and
then galvanised i.e. coating of zinc is
employed on it, gives excellent anti
corrosion property to steel wire.
11. Pressure Die Casting
Due to several advantages like high productivity, better
surface finish and appearance, to have very little
machining, close dimensional tolerance, very thin section
can be cast without any casting defects, sound castings &
metal wastage is less etc., pressure die castings has gain
popularity and application where appearance, soundness,
thin section, close dimensional tolerance, high production
etc. are associates. Out of variety of metal and alloys are
pressure die cast, aluminum and its alloy has major share
in production and application.
12. M.S.Ingots
Mild steel Ingots are the basic raw
material for the manufacture of
various types of re-rolled products,
for e.g. rounds, flats, channels equal
and upequal angles etc. A major part
of this re-rolled products in the form
of cold-twisted deformed bars are
used in building construction as
reinforecement.
13. Heat Treatment Services
Heat Treatment is a term used for hardening and
tempering of Metal components/Mechanical products
of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous origin to increase the life
or mechanical properties. Steel in general, supplied in
annealed conditions having hardness between 140 to
280 BHN depending on the percentage of alloying
elements which facilitate further mechanical
operations. 15%–20% of the steel produced is tool
steel which will be the raw material for manufacturing
of gears, fixtures, shafts, cutting tools, blades and
many more products. If these products are used in soft
conditions, it will be worn out in a short period. Hence
such products are to be hardened and tempered. Heat
Treatment is a general term which consists of
processes like Hardening, Tempering, Annealing and
Case Hardening etc
14. Manufacturing of S.G. Iron Castings
S.G. Iron possesses greater tensile strength,
machinability than ordinary cast iron and also has a
considerable measure of ductility, resistance to impact
comparable to that of steel and low cost involved that
justifies it as the metal of future. Due to economic
reforms based upon principle of liberalization,
globalization, privatization and changes at international
economy including the emergence of WTO global and
domestic challenges, the demand for components of
S.G. Iron particularly in automobile sector is likely to
increase manifold not only for domestic consumption but
also for export purpose. Since small-scale sector
accounts for 40% of gross value of output in the
manufacturing sector and 35% of total exports from the
country, this industry has great scope.
15. MILD STEEL WELDING ELECTRODES
Welding electrodes required for arc
welding purposes. The electrode is
coated with flux. Although, electrodes are
produced in different sizes viz. dia.2.5,
3.15, 4.00, 5.00mm & length 350 to
450mm, the assumption in the project has
been made for production of electrodes
of 4mm dia. core rods. The electrodes are
used for fabrication work for joining of

18. SINTERED BUSH
Sintering is the process in which the green compact
metal powder is subjected to heat at a temperature
below the melting point of the solid metal. It is one of
the two operations of powder metallurgical technology
through which an ordinary shape to a complicated one
can be manufactured at reasonable cost. The other
operation is compacting or pressing which consists of
subjecting the suitably prepared powder mixture at
normal of elevated temperature to considerable
pressure. The resulting powder compact is known as
briquette and is said to be the form known as green.
The application of sintered metal bushes is increasing
