4. Need of energy conservation
Energy conservation refers to the concept of
reducing energy consumption through using less of
an energy service.
Most of the energy we use cannot be reused and renewed.
Energy conservation is important when it comes to climate
change.
Energy conservation is needed to reduce the adverse effect
of pollution due to excessive use of fossil fuels.
Increasing energy demand is a drain to national economy.

5. Objective
The main objective of this project is to carry out an analysis on VIIT in
terms of optimising total load, by different conservation approaches.
The best possible combination of load and energy efficient methods
to be used so as to reduce energy use.

22. Energy Conservation procedure:
Optimized use of light, like use of tube lights, CFL bulbs, sensors
in libraries, LED lighting, running a separate line for lighting load and
voltage reduction for lighting load
Use of electronic timer in passage lights
Instead of using concrete wall here glass windows are used.

27. Result
According to the analysis in 2012 the units consumption was 1,09,972
which had cost around 10,99,720Rs/- , then with increase in load in
2013 the unit consumption raised to 79,851 which nearly had cost
around 7,98,510Rs/-. Taking the expenses of these years there is an
decrease of 62.63% from 2012 to 2013.
From 2013 onwards we started following energy conservation
procedures, due to which though the load as we came up with a
building but the expenses on electricity bill decreased by more than 60
%.
Energy Audit was conducted in the VIIT building. Lighting load, HVAC
load, motors load, total load calculation etc., gathered the information
in all levels to finalize the total energy audit.

Energy plays a key role in achieving the desired economic
growth and energy conservation promises to fill the gap
between supply and demand.
Energy conservation accelerates supply side capacity,
operational efficiency improvements of power generating
stations, reduction of losses in transmission and distribution,
end-use efficiency and renewable technologies thereby
mitigating environmental pollution.
Conclusion
29. Future Scope
Energy conservation procedures can be followed to construct Smart
building. Smart building deliver useful building services that make
occupants productive (e.g. illumination, thermal comfort, air quality,
physical security, sanitation and many more) at the lowest cost and
environmental impact over the building lifecycle.
VIIT also plan for future solar panel expansions.
