Entry 1
In last week’s lecture which was conformity and group behavior. Ms.
Chia started the lecture by showing a picture with 3 lines and another with 1
line. We had to see which of the 3 lines matches in length with the other 1 line.
Ms. Chia conducted a small experiment whereby a student coincidently left the
class because he needs to go to the bathroom, Ms. Chia then told us to match
the lines wrongly so it will convince him. So after he came back from the toilet,
everyone in the classroom say the “wrong” answer and he started to think and
then finally chose the wrong answer too. So I learned that by seeing and
hearing what the majority says will change our mind and thinking.
In that lecture, I also learned about bystander effect. Ms. Chia showed us
a video whereby a young girl pretends to act that she is lost and a male adult
pretend to act that he is kidnapping the young girl, but as I watch the video,
everyone on the streets just walk passes the young girl as she was being
kidnapped. It was quite sad to see this kind of problem in our society, so I
learned that we had to be helpful to others as because it could save a person’s
lives. To sum up the whole lecture, I think it was definitely interesting and fun to
know what the society is thinking and how would they react. I think it would help
me in my future.

2. Entry 2
Recently we had a social psychology in class, the test, in my opinion, was
normal, not too hard and not too easy, it was just fine. I had to read and refer to
a few lecture notes before the test and of course study the notes as well. During
the test, I found that it has a lot of familiar and somehow similar questions to
what we had heard or read during the pass lectures. So I find it very helpful
because the pass lectures was interesting, not boring and also easy to
understand. Thanks to that, it was very helpful in my test.
Of course there are some questions which I was not really sure about it,
but mostly was what I had learned from the lectures and some were actually
common knowledge. It took me a while to finish the test. Overall, I think the test
was helpful and I definitely remembered back all the lectures. I also think that
this test was enjoyable to do as because it was not too difficult and easy to
understand.
