The Physics Of Atomic Structure
Lesson 1
1.
Increasing current funding for atomic structure would be a fantastic idea which could lead to
discoveries beyond our imagination. For instance, in the quantum mechanical model, the fact that it is
unable to tell the exact location and speed of the electron and cannot describe the electron as a particle
orbiting a fixed path around the nucleus provides evidential support that funding must be placed into
this to further our knowledge. This research could potentially result in terminating the use of
probability mathematical equations and replacing them with facts. By just looking at the many revised
versions of the atomic structure, we are able to see that there is potential in knowing more which could
lead to even more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many wait weeks or even months to receive an MRI, thus, making it very difficult to believe that
funding needs to go to more research rather than providing more MRI machines to be used.
2.
There is a difference in energy between the two lines because the electrons move from higher to lower
orbitals. The line within the visible spectrum is an electron that is moving from a 5th orbital to a 2nd
and the line within the Ultraviolet area is an electron moving from a 6th orbital to a 2nd, thus meaning
that the line within the visible spectrum gives off less energy when releasing light whereas the
ultraviolet spectrum gives off more energy.

b) After reviewing the diagram, you can conclude that the Zr4+ ion exists because in order for the Zr
atom to become stable, it gets rid of 4 electrons from the 4d and 5s orbitals.
c) The Zr4+ ion is more stable because it outer shell (valance shell) is complete following the octet
rule. When this occurs, the atom is less likely to react because it is most stable. Comparing it to the Zr
atom, the Zr atom does not have a filled valence shell.

The Novel The Handmaid Tale
Imagine knowing that a group of people are attempting to take full control of society and the way to
live life, but there is nothing that can be done to stop them from accomplishing it. That s exactly what
has been occurring to societies around the world for centuries: Hitler in Germany, Stalin in Russia,
and Idi Amin in Uganda, but still continues due to a leader or Regime s clever techniques to gradually
attain power in society without the acknowledgement of citizens. Similarly, in the dystopian novel The
Handmaids Tale, a staged terrorist attack kills the President, which leads to the government being
taken over by the Republic of Gilead, who ultimately transforms the state of Gilead into a women s
nightmare. The women in the novel are forced to be sex slaves in society, in order to produce babies
for the infertile men in the state of Gilead, where fertility rates are significantly low. However, the
Republic of Gilead forces citizens to follow their theocratic ideology through misleading the entire
population with their clever techniques to accomplish their goal of having full power and eventually
form a totalitarian society. Thus, in The Handmaids Tale, by Margaret Atwood, misinterpreted
references to the bible s scriptures and manipulative techniques are used by the Regime of Gilead to
form a totalitarian society. The Republic of Gilead uses misinterpreted references from the bible, in
order to support their misleading ideology and manipulate citizens to

I Survive The Titanic
William was walking into his house when he heard a voice say, How did you survive the Titanic? He
looked behind him and he saw his grandson James standing there waiting for an answer. He was
visiting over the summer because his parents were going on a vacation to Hawaii. William replied It s
been too long for me to remember. James then said, Mommy said that you would tell us stories about
it. Oh, sorry James but sadly I can t remember it that well. But William secretly remembered it like it
was yesterday. When William got in bed that night, all the memories came in all at once. One second

He got up and he went to see his parents. He couldn t find them in their room so he woke up his sister

FDI Inflow, Current Account Balance, Inflation And Interest Rate: How Do They Impact The
Malaysian Economy?
By
Siva Kumar Kandiah (Matric No: 89306)
___________________________________________________________
Abstract
This article seeks to find which of the macroeconomic variables among FDI inflow, current account
balance, inflation and interest rate play a significant role in economic growth in Malaysia using the
SPSS Regression method for a time period of 14 years from 1995 to 2008 (Oct). The results of the
research indicated that FDI and inflation are not significantly related to economic growth in Malaysia
during the period of study. However, CA ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s economic performance.
The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the
Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs)
during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion of the
investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was the second largest FDI
recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion.
Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997 respectively.
The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of the Asian financial
crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI
inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in
2006.
FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign direct
investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. With money
coming into a country, strong foreign direct investment is one way governments can finance current
account deficits. However, just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,

U.S. Foreign Policy From 1890-1930. American Foreign Policy
U.S. Foreign policy from 1890 1930
American foreign policy from 1890 1930 was driven primarily by our businesslike economic and
strategic considerations based on American self interest. With westward expansion over, there had to
be a new way for the United States to continue expansion. In the name of maintaining our innovative
spirit and political ideology, our conquest for money, resources and trade took us outside of our
borders for the first time. After all, how could we continue this upward monetary and resource tick if
we didn t expand? All countries are very self centered and driven by their own success, and ours is no
different in this respect. Going from a country that could large in part be ignored, to a real world
power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 1890 the government passed the Naval Act and began to build. Nearly ten years later our fleet had
grown to 160 vessels, with 6 of those being battleships. This aggressive approach to a bigger navy
brought us from worst to third ranked world power, only behind Spain and Great Britain. During this
same time, another influential territory was Hawaii. With American businessman being captivated by
its lucrative sugar industry, we quickly made several trade agreements causing nearly all of Hawaii s
sugar production to be exported to the United States.
The Spanish American War was a war focused on control over Cuba. As previously stated, Spain
touted a powerful navy, victory would cause the entire world to notice and give the United States a
seat at the international table. Americans took notice of Spanish brutality to Cuban uprisings
attempting to gain freedom and were sympathetic to the Cuban people. Fighting for our independence
was fresh on the minds of Americans who began to support Cuban freedom from Spain. Dispatching
the USS Maine off the coast of Cuba proved to be a fateful strategic move made by President
McKinley because just days after on February 15th 1898 the ship was destroyed, killing over 250
sailors. Although believed to be an accident, yellow journalists ran with the story of war receiving
overwhelming support from the public. War was declared in April of 1898 and just after

America and Haiti Essay
America and Haiti
The United States interest in Haiti, as mentioned above, began a huge increase in the first decade of
the twentieth century. The extent of U. S. economic penetration was not as great as that of France and
Germany, but by 1910 it controlled sixty percent of Haiti s import industry. Unfortunately, the Haitian
banking system did not follow this path and was, at this time, perilously close to domination by
European interests. (Langley, 1982, 70) In an effort to gain more control over Haitian economic
affairs, the United States engaged in a battle with France and Germany over the Banque Nationale.
Two banks from the U. S. attempted to obtain control of the bank but lost out to a German bank,
which proceeded to ally itself ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As U. S. Secretary of State Philander Knox stated, If hostilities between rival factions become
imminent, define neutral zone and prevent fighting in the city. Land forces if necessary, safeguard
American interests, and in general prevent any action detrimental to foreign interests. (Challener, 333)
However, the predicted time bomb of Haiti never went off, and the situation was left for Taft s
successor Woodrow Wilson to deal with.
The Wilson Administration also saw political instability as Haiti s primary and immediate problem.
Between 1911 and U. S. military intervention in 1915, seven Haitian presidents had either been
assassinated or removed from office by force. This lack of stability gave the United States yet one
more excuse to get involved in Haitian matters in order to keep European powers at bay and from
taking advantage of the politically vulnerable state. In creating his Haitian political agenda, Wilson
relied to a great extent on the advice of Banque Nationale s American manager Roger Farnham. As
stated above, Farnham and the Banque had a great deal of power over the Haitian executives. When
consulted by Wilson, Farnham deduced that American business would leave the republic unless the
United States intervened to protect it. (Langley, 1982, 71) Though this was certainly not the deciding
factor in the intervention of the U. S., it certainly helped direct American policy down that particular
path, making intervention increasingly

Mountain Man Brewing Company
Mountain Man Brewing Company | To: | Chris Prangel | From: | 001706975 | CC: | David Nasser |
Date: | 3/4/2013 | Re: | Bringing the Brand to Light | Comments: | For the first time in the company s
history, Mountain Man Brewing Company is experiencing declining sales in response to changes in
beer drinkers preferences. Mr. Prangel s response to this problem is introducing a light beer form of
the popular Lager. In the past six years, the light beer industry as increased at an annual rate of 4%
while sales of traditional beer has been declining annually by 4%. Although this seems like a probable
solution, there are two major problems Mr. Prangel is facing: 1.) Mountain Man s current target
market will not approve of this new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BREAK EVEN AND BREAK EVEN IN MARKET SHARE IN 2 YEARSBy keeping the same price
for light as the lager, breakeven in dollar amount is almost $10,000,000 which then translates into
100,473 barrels. Within two years, Mountain Man Light will have to produce almost $10,000,000 in
sales and sale 20% of what Mountain Man Lager has worked almost a century to sale. As for the
market share, Mountain Man Light will need to gain a 26% of the market share in 2 years to break
even. This seems very unrealistic since the leading brand light beer now consumers 32.9% and the
second leading brand holds 17.8% of the market. Mountain Man Light will have to become the second
leading brand in the market within only 2 years (assuming that the sales of light beer continue to grow
annually by 4%). CANNIBALIZATION RATEBecause Mountain Man Lager produces so many units
and produces such high sales already, the difference in cannibalization of 5% to 20% is pretty
significant (almost 1,000,000). Two year contribution with a 5% cannibalization rate is
$32,895,226.42 compared to $31,988,859.59 with a 20% cannibalization rate. This is a major loss in
sales of the Mountain Man Lager. If cannibalization is inevitable, the lower percentage of
cannibalization is the best option, it yields a higher contribution. Anything above 20% is unnecessary
and definitely not worth introducing the Mountain Man

American Idealism in F. Scoot Fitzgerald´s The Great Gatsby
Gatsby is in modern times the central artistic expression of the American experience. According to
Ross MacDonald, F. Scott Fitzgerald s book, The Great Gatsby, was about American idealism
destroyed by American greed . (Thompson p.152) This theme of a misinterpreted American Dream
was portrayed throughout what is said to be one of Fitzgerald s most influential works, The Great
Gatsby. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was born in the great capital of Saint Paul, Minnesota. Born into
an upper middle class family on September 24, 1896, Fitzgerald spent the first few years of his
childhood life in Buffalo, New York due to his fathers job. While there, he Attended two schools, both
Catholic, and was noted for his intense interest in literature and writing. Very soon after, in 1908,
Fitzgerald s father was fired from the company Proctor Gamble, his New York job, and the family was
forced to move back to their home town of Saint Paul. From the time of 1908 to 1911, F. Scott
Fitzgerald attended a local school, Saint Paul Academy in which his love for literature and writing
prospered. By the time Fitzgerald was only 13 his first work was published in his schools newspaper
in which his parents realized his talent. Fitzgerald s parents took the next steep to ensure their son
would have the best, brightest future by sending him to a Catholic prep school in New Jersey. With
more and more people recognizing his talents as a writer, a Priest at his prep school encouraged him to

The River In Hermann Hesse s Siddhartha
Quenching for knowledge, Siddhartha travels in search of nirvana. Throughout his journey, he
encounters the river several times. Each time he encounters the river he is in different phase of his self,
which leads him to his goal of salvation. The river is present in Siddhartha s spirituality, it provides
him with lust, and gives him true unity in the end. Siddhartha grew up alongside a riverbank and is
born as the son of a Brahmin. He bathes and performs his ritual ablutions in the water. Siddhartha
begins to become unsatisfied with this simple life. Siddhartha wishes to find answers about his true
self and oneness. Siddhartha leaves against his father s wishes, and lives a life of asceticism with the

Then what penetrates his conciseness is the OM of perfect completion . He gazes at the river, noting
that what he hears is the voice of its current speaking powerfully and purely. Siddhartha dies in the
water, but becomes reborn anew. Through this, he obtains his salvation and achieves his harmonious
relationship with the world, which is nirvana. Through contemplation of the river, Siddhartha learns to
understand every aspect of life. He notices that it exists always the same and yet at every moment
new. This symbolizes the circle of life. The river also brought little Siddhartha and Govinda both to
Siddhartha. The defiance of his son resembles his own towards his father , which demonstrates life s
full circle. He and Govinda are later reunited by the river after taking separate paths. Furthermore, the
river teaches Siddhartha that time has no existence; it just flows eternally. His soul, even after death,
shall continue to flow eternally. Throughout the story the river guides Siddhartha, enabling him to find
oneness among his experiences. As Siddhartha achieves his peace and self through the river, he smiles
as the perfect Buddha does, for he has found true

Violence In Rap Music Essay
Boom, boom! Boom, boom! The kind of bass that drains batteries and the kind of lyrics that unload
clips, these are the sounds that rap music produces. I chose this topic because I am extremely
interested in rap music and I want to explore the violent aspect of the industry. I have never had a
chance to look at the violent side of it and I plan to find answers to questions I have in my search.
Tupac Shakur is one of my favorite artists and when he was shot and killed I really started to take
notice of the violence. People were getting killed because of an image that was being set. What I really
want to know, however, is why rappers feel compelled to graphically describe the violence.

My Military Life
The Houses that built me I remember people always telling me that in the military you move a lot and
change houses often. They said that you would move houses so often that each house you moved into
would just become another house and would not have as much significant meaning to it but, they were
definitely wrong. I remember them saying that the military life was not for everyone and it took a
special person to be able to be in it. You had to be prepared to move a lot which meant new schools
and different houses. I guess you could say I was made for it. I loved the constant changing of the
house and each house we moved into has its own special meaning to it and the memories that were

It is exactly how it sounds when you think of a box you think of a cardboard container with four sides

only way that you were able to get into the base is by going through the gates that were secured by

I was 4 when we moved to South Dakota so our first house is not as clear to me as the others are. Our
new house was actually not so new, it was one of the oldest houses they had still standing on the base.
You need to know that base housing is not like any other housing. Every house in the area you are in

google earth the houses looked like a bunch of dominos and if one house fell all the others would too.

The Puzzle Of 15 Puzzle
N Puzzle is a sliding puzzle that consists of a frame of numbered square tiles in random order with one
tile missing. The N Puzzle is known in finite versions such as the 8 puzzle (a 3x3 board) and the 15
puzzle (a 4x4 board), and with various names like sliding block , tile puzzle , etc. [1][2]
The 15 puzzle is a sliding square puzzle commonly attributed to Sam Loyd. However, research by
Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had
nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle
began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first
claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to
falsely take credit for the puzzle. The actual inventor was Noyes Chapman, the Postmaster of
Canastota, New York, and he applied for a patent in March 1880. [4]
The N Puzzle is a board game for a single player. It consists of (N^2 1) numbered squared tiles in
random order, and one blank space ( a missing tile ). The object of the puzzle is to rearrange the tiles
in order by making sliding moves that use the empty space, using the fewest moves. Moves of the
puzzle are made by sliding an adjacent tile into the empty space. Only tiles that are horizontally or
vertically adjacent to the blank space (not diagonally adjacent) may be moved. [2]
The N puzzle game provides a good framework for

other team had the ball off. Badminton.... A match is the best of 3 games each of 21 points. A point is

Scapegoating In Society
Scapegoating in Society In Bill Moyers interview with Margaret Atwood, she states When societies
come under stress these kinds of things happen. People start looking around for essentially human
sacrifices (?). A scapegoat is a person or a group of people who are punished for the mistakes of
others. In the history of our society, scapegoats have been both necessary and important. The reason
for this is because it unites people and can be seen as a temporary solution to problems that a society
may be facing. Is it easier to get rid of individuals or groups of people than it is to solve the underlying
problem? History shows that it is common for scapegoating to be used especially under stressful
situations. Psychologically uncomfortable feelings such as anger, frustration, envy, guilt, and fear are
projected onto another person or group. This is the human ego at work. Scapegoating has been a part
of our history and although it was more barbaric in the past, as a society we still express the same
wants and feelings in different ways. For example, in ancient society, humans and animals were
sacrificed after a disaster in hopes that the community would avoid further punishment from the gods.
In the bible days, the people sacrificed goats and lambs as a cleansing for their sins. Abraham was
asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac, he was to be used as a scapegoat to prove Abraham s love for
God. In the end, God provided Abraham with a sacrificial lamb instead. This is one

Charles Robert Darwin s Theory Of Natural Selection
Charles Robert Darwin, born on the 12th of February in 1809. Born in the tiny merchant town of
Shrewsbury, England. Darwin was a naturalist and biologist known for his theory of evolution and the
process of natural selection. Darwin s theory of evolution meant that species survived through a
process called natural selection, where those that successfully adapted, or evolved, to meet the
changing requirements of their habitat. He studied birds, plants, and fossils. He noticed similarities

Childhood Memories And Its Effects On Our Lives
We each have memories, both from long ago and recent times, that we hold dear to us. Memories get
us through the hard days and keep us chipper in the good ones. The past is what makes us who we are.
It shapes how we act, how we treat others, and simply just what we do on a day to day basis.
Memories are the little things that keep this world running smoothly. Imagine what it would be like to
lose those memories. What if you were to forget things to the point you were losing your
functionality? Every 67 seconds another person in the US falls victim to this disease (www.alz.org).
They may remember childhood memories, but forgot where they put the cheese they bought yesterday.
As the disease gets worse and worse, they may wander and even forget people they care deeply about
and those they interact with daily. Who are these people, and what is the it they are suffering from?
These are people suffering from Alzheimers Disease, affecting 5 million individuals in the United
States alone. Alzheimers Disease is a type of dementia, a more general term meaning a decline in
someone s mental ability, to the point of affecting their everyday life. Alzheimers is actually the most
common form, afflicting about 80% of dementia patients. There are treatments and medications
available to help patients with symptoms and slow its progress through the brain, but science has not
yet found a way to completely stop it, or even slow it significantly for many patients. As patients

Acupuncture and Fertility
The relationship between acupuncture and fertility shows promise for patients
Texas Fertility Center San Antonio believes in the value of a comprehensive approach to resolving
infertility. Consuming a well balanced diet, maintaining a healthy weight and avoiding risky behaviors
like smoking all have a positive impact on fertility. Additionally, the physicians at our San Antonio
fertility center have seen studies that suggest a compelling link between acupuncture and fertility.

People around the world turn to the practice as a way to relieve pain, stress and the symptoms of
various medical conditions. The physicians at our San Antonio fertility have been reviewing studies
about acupuncture and fertility, which suggests that acupuncture can improve IVF success rates and
increase egg production.
The idea behind acupuncture is simple. People experience problems with their physical and
psychological health when the flow of energy in the body is blocked. To unblock the energy and
restore balance, a licensed acupuncturist inserts tiny needles in different points on the body. When
acupuncture is performed for fertility, the acupuncturist targets points that help the reproductive
system and stress.
Our fertility specialists realize that most of our patients are not eager to be stuck with more needles;
however, acupuncture needles are different than those used to give injections of fertility medications.
The disposable needles used in Chinese medicine are very small, and most people report experiencing
little to no pain with acupuncture. There are also minimal side effects.

The Growth of the Asian Economy
Asian Economy: The growth of the Asian Economy has had positive structural effects on the
Australian Economy. The trade volumes are at record high levels with China and the appreciation of
the exchange rates have provided a boost to the economy. There has also been a rise in the resource
investment, which has seen a reallocation of factors of production, which has lead to employment
growth in these sectors. The focus of the Asian economies is on the production and consumption of
goods and the commodity intensive nature of this rise has led to an increase in commodity prices. This
has led to an increase in the productive capacity, which supports the exports, employment, incomes,
taxes and wealth of the Australian population. The strength of the resource sector has had a positive
effects on the exchange rate which when combined with the stable inflation rate has led to a
significant increase in wage dollar of the working population (Plumb, Kent, Bishop, Implications for
the Australian Economy of Strong Growth in Asia, 2013). Competition: Australia s asset pool of over
A$1869.5 billion (finnewsnetwork) has attracted many Investment Managing firms from US and
Europe. This amount is equivalent to 135% of the country s nominal GDP. The Australian Economy is
the 4th largest in the Asia Pacific with the sophisticated finance and insurance contributing 10.8%

Gender Roles In Star Trek Next Generation Essay
In 1966 a series called quot;Star Trek quot; was created. It s creator, Gene Roddenberry, did not create
the show to be a science fiction series. The series was much deeper than that. It wasn t just about
discovering new planets and civilizations. It was about controversial issues. Even though the series
take place in the 23rd and 24th century the issues struck with the times and related current issues.
Through each series, The Original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, there has been
progression with the times and the issues. The issues that surround the episodes of Star Trek include
race, religion, sexuality, the depiction of science and gender roles. The central focus being talked

There was the captain, Janeway, Kes and Seven of Nine. This series brought women into leadership
roles. The progression of women in Star Trek has been appropriately timed and has even pushed a
little bit past the time. Even though Uhura basically played the role of a secretary her role still pushed
the envelope for the time because of her race. She was a black actress during or right after the civil
rights movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough
for her role in the series. However, after Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how
important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have progressed from a
secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in
command or the captain. Their progress allows them to be more influential.
Let s talk more specifically about the Next Generation series. The Original series showed the four
starring male roles to provide everything for the crew. This is not the case in Next Generation. Next
Generation is more like a family with a father, a mother and children. But who were the biggest
members of the family? There are four characters, which give the presence of a family on Next
Generation.
First, you have the father. This is actually quite simple. You have Captain Picard who plays the father.

The Basic Idea Underlying Purchasing Power Parity
II. Purchasing Power Parity
i. Intuition
The basic idea underlying purchasing power parity is the law of one price. That is to say, once the
prices of the same bundle of goods in different countries are measured using the same currency, they
should be identical. As a consequence, no arbitrage in equilibrium will force the goods prices to be
equalised internationally.
Consider a situation where there are only 2 countries, say, China with the Chinese yuan as its currency
unit and Japan with the Japanese yen as its currency unit. We can express the exchange rate as either
the number of yuan per yen, or its reciprocal the number of yen per yuan. For instance, suppose that
the exchange rate, defined as the number of yen it takes to buy one ... Show more content on

Thus, for this example, we can see that if PPP holds, there is equalisation in goods prices
internationally.
The key to the appealingness of PPP is that that if PPP is valid, then there is no goods arbitrage, which
indicates that it is impossible that economic agents can gain riskless profit by exploiting price
differences. Suppose the price of the good is 100 CNY in China and 2000 JPY in Japan, and the
exchange rate is 0.01 CNY: 1 JPY. Then this good could be bought for 2000 JPY in Japan and
imported into China (assuming no transportation costs) at selling at a price which when converted into
yuan at the going exchange rate would be 20 yuan (=2000×0.01), some 80 yuan less than the domestic
price. In this case, the existence of arbitrage opportunities will force the exchange rate to be adjusted
in order to reflect the relative price of the good in the two countries. As a result, the exchange rate
should adjust to 0.05 CNY: 1 JPY for the sake of ruling out arbitrage opportunities. It is assumed that
there is no transportation costs in this example; however, even if transportation costs do exist,
economic agents may still be able to gain riskless profit. If the cost of importation is 100 yen per unit,
which is equal to 1 yuan at the current exchange rate, the imported good is still 79 yuan cheaper. ii.

Clothes and Their Power to Transform and Create Character...
The semiotics of costume explores signs and symbols present which help create a character. Costume
is a huge tool for the performer as it can convey a great deal about the character and places them into
the setting and time period. Costume is a form of expression that allows the performer to change the
way they are perceived by the audience. Colour used in costume can also translate a characters
persona or status. Colour is often manipulated subtly by directors with mise en scene.
Catholic church
In the Catholic Church symbolism and signs are very dominant and play a massive part in sermons.
The liturgical colours used for vestments are quite specific to the time of year. The range of liturgical
colours in the Church evolved from the spiritual significance that supports them. Colour is very
significant to the tradition of ritual of mass. The colour white is often seen to represent innocence of
the soul and purity this is heavily present in the Catholic Church in special occasions such as Baptism,
First Communion and Weddings. This could also be seen as a performance where the person is
perceived as innocent and pure so that they are ready to accept god. The colour white is often used in
performance and is seen as an angelic colour. Red is a symbol of guilt, anger, sin, lust, passion and
love across many cultures and is often linked to blood and sex. In the bible Isiah said Though your
sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow.

Stroke 1
Stroke
Strokes have been around for thousands of years. Hippocrates recognized and described what we now
call strokes as the onset of sudden paralysis. In ancient times stroke was called apoplexy and this term
was applied to anyone who suddenly became struck down with paralysis. Physicians during that time
knew very little about stroke and the only thing that could be done for the condition was to feed and
care for the patient. The first person to investigate apoplexy was a Swiss scientist named Johann
Wepfer in 1620. Wepfer was the first to identify postmortem signs of bleeding in the brain in patients
that died of apoplexy. Not only did was he the first to identify the blood in the brain of these

The two most at risk groups for stroke are those people with unhealthy lifestyles and the elderly. Two
thirds of all stroke victims are over the age of 65. Strokes can occur at anytime however. Gender also
plays a role in strokes. The stroke risk for men is 1.25 times higher than that of women. Men do have
a higher survival rate than women due to the life expectancy of men vs. women. Women are generally
older when they encounter a stroke (Harrar 132). Stroke also runs in some families. Some members of
a family might have a genetic predisposition for some of the risk factors. Race is also important in
determining those at risk. African Americans have almost double the risk compared to Caucasians.
High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of stroke. As many as 50 million Americans have
high blood pressure and only 31 % know they have it. High blood pressure puts unnecessary strain on
blood vessel walls causing them to thicken and deteriorate. Smoking almost doubles your risk of
ischemic stroke and increases your risk of hemorrhagic stroke by 3.5 percent (AHA). High alcohol
content can lead to stroke.

While studies show that a small amount of alcohol can lead to a reduced risk for stroke meanwhile
large amounts of alcohol can lead to blood viscosity and high platelet levels. Using illegal drugs can

Heroics of Women in Ibsens A Dolls House Essay
Heroics of Women in Ibsens A Dolls House The Heroics of Women
Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House is a play about a young wife and her husband. Nora and Helmer seem

into this show when Nora brags to her friend Ms. Linde about how she had forged her father s name to
borrow money to save her husband s life and how she had been secretly paying off this debt. Helmer

Tell me just what within reason you d most like to have. (Ibsen 1570) Helmer is a certainly a man that
lives up to what is expected of him, inside and outside the home.
Nora, as a woman, also has many expectations she must try to live up to. By natural design, women
are not good with money, with planning, or with complicated thinking. They are certainly the
underclass of the sexes. This condition was caused by the fact that women were forced to mold
themselves into a model themselves that men deem desirable and best. The wants and desires of
women were put aside so that they may better perform the role of pleasing the men in their lives. They
were there to support their husbands and help carry on the tasks of keeping the house in order, or they
re to care for their fathers and clean his house of generally care for him. This entire social condition
became an inescapable cycle, since men chose what men should and would be like and they chose as
suits them. A woman did not have the opportunity to go out and find herself or to further her own
talents and abilities. They were instead molded into a shape that would further enhance the men s
talents and abilities. Yet even though the weakest characteristics were attributed to women, great
responsibility was put on them as regarding the raising of their children. It was commonly assumed

the victims who were the most affect by the crimes should be informed especially victims of rape.
Upon the release of some offender of sex crimes they are to be put on the register when they return to
the community. (Community Notification Laws (Megan s Law), n.d.). The information about the

differently towards the newly released convict even though they might of known the person before the

criminal even after they have served their time because of the stigmatism around ex convicts. Some
challenges are to choose where he or she would want to live under this if the person was convicted and
had to register on the sex offender registry they are limited where can live because of the safety to
community. The information is released that the individual is out but if a simple crime nonviolent or
misdemeanor it should not affect their ability to get a place to live or to their families house. Some
convicts have the choice to go to a half way house and live for a little bit but with everything that
happens at half way house most choice not the stay which mean they live in shelters or live with
people that commit crimes like drug dealers and people like that. Another way the rights of the ex

thought she was an intruder. Please please come quick . He went with his daughter and
found Pistorius coming down the stairs with Steenkamp in his arms. Standard testified,
he was broken, he was screaming, he was crying, he was praying, I saw the truth that

It is evident Pistorius loved and cared deeply for his girlfriend even though the
prosecution brought into evidence of arguments. This happens in all relationships. His
testimony of not having his prosthetic legs on and shooting threw the bathroom door was
verified by the investigators. There were also recorded evidence of break ins around the
neighborhoods. Also testimony from witnesses at the scene showed his shock and
remorse over a horrible mistake.
After all the evidence that we have found after studying this case it would be
fairly hard to convict him of murder. Accidents happen everyday around the world.

Wheelock and Wilson (2002) used a rating methodology called CAMEL, shorten from several

the probability of bank failures. Their study documented that smaller banks and well capitalized banks
can obtain a higher degree of capacity to maintain stability individually, and comparing to universal

Over the period of 1996 2005, accounting data based researches showed that the universal banks can
only increase the volatility of accounting profits by diversifying non interest income and have no
effect on raising their average profits. For American banks, there may be some benefits by introducing
new business differing from traditional interest income based derivatives, the profits are offset by the
increasing exposure to the systemic risk that institutions may suffer. The similar result raised in Stiroh
s (2006) research in American equity market during 1996 2005. He concluded that, on the one hand,
there is no apparent link between non interest income exposure and average profits. On the other hand,
the diversification of non interest income has a strong and positive correlation with the volatility of
equity return.
Banks in European shared the similar phenomenon in which banks with non interest business present a
lower level of risk management capability than those who mainly focused on traditional interest
income activities. Recent findings state that compare to trading activities, bank s conglomerate risk is
mainly positively correlated with the scale of non interest income (Lepetit 2008). Those studies dig
deeply into European equity market to reach the relationship between market based measures of the
risk trade off and the effect of income diversification. They concluded that in the long run, universal

Among lots of these outside factors is terrorism because of the unlawful use of violence and

Former president Josep Broz Tito held Yugoslavia together and was able to extinguish the nationalism
growing in many republics. His death however reopened the wound and let the nationalism of the
Serbs become existent. The serb forces ideology for a Greater Serbia was the very motive that sparked
the 3 year long civil war. For starters the Serb forces showed much nationalism by joining up in a
group of 16 Serb Political members and writing the Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of
Sciences and Arts. For them, is was supposedly to support a solution of Yugoslav unity but instead
focused depently on disapproving president Tito s ways. In fact in 1987, the president of Serbia,
Slobodan Milošević, was openly supportive of the document and was even the spokes person for it.
He envisioned and introduce a nationalist motto of strong Serbia, strong Yugoslavia . This nationalism
alone from a president was the spark of all nationalism thereafter. It was a sense of unity for serbians
and made them more superior than other ethnicities due to that fact that the president was so open
about it. This gave him justification by using text to support his beliefs and ideas. This is comparative
to the middle east by Al Qaeda and ISIS. The middle east as well uses documents and books to justify
and spread what they are doing. They use the Quran, a holy book, as justification for the strong hate
for others and strong nationalism for their country. They use versus such as I will cast terror into the

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Scenario Based Analysis

7.2.1 Strengths
The present research combined quantitative and qualitative research design. These approaches
complemented each other and provided different perspectives for analysis, which in turn allows valid
and reliable results. For instance, key informant interviews and expert communications contribute to
the design of simulation scenarios. The quantitative analysis allows measurement of the impact of

The model constructed relies on own survey data and some statistical data from national and regional
surveys. This data was used in parameterization and calibration activities. In the survey, heaping, a
typical error in agricultural data, was presented (Beegle et al. 2012). Heaping is a special case of data
coarsening where respondents round quantitative information (e.g. around one hectare may in reality
be either 1.2 or 0.8 hectare). This could have an influence on the estimates of production functions, as
happened with Schreinemachers (2006). Another problem was the farmers use local reference units
and we lack conversion tables for those units. For instance, outputs of some crops such as plantain,
cassava or fruits were reported in bunch or bags without specifying their weights in kg. In order to
overcome this later problem, a conversion table was built during interviews, through asking members
of the community with more education and also key experts. Information about fertilizer and
pesticides was recorded by plot and not by crop, a problem mentioned in section 6.2.2.1.1.
Externalities. In the study, carbon sequestration was the only positive externality accounted, but there
are other ecosystem services that forest projects could enhance such as biodiversity, soil erosion
control, and water regulation, among others. Incorporating these direct and indirect values into the
analysis will provide a better picture for land use

The Only Thing That Rabbi Lipstein
The only thing that Rabbi Lipstein liked talking about as much as talmud, was life in the old country.
His digressions to stories about the old country would occur at random. For example, if a passage in
the talmud was discussing the process of milking a cow, he would share his knowledge on the topic by
recalling how he used to milk cows in his early rural life. Although most of the students seemed to pay
no more attention to him during these stories, I would show particular interest. If I had dozed off
somewhat during the lecture, I would immediately become alert and listen with great attention. I loved
all his stories, even the seemingly mundane ones, like how he used to go chop wood in the forest and
how he would feed the young ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why did these stories so appeal to me, as a third generation American, who spoke no Yiddish and who
lacked any strong connection to the old country?
Because I yearned for that foregone Jewish experience. There was something so appealing to me about
being a Jew in yesterday s Europe. I compared Rabbi Lipstein s stories about his early life to my own
experiences. I found being Jewish life in this country to be dry and uninspiring. In America, a Jew is
no different than an Episcopalian or Catholic. I am just an American whose religious affiliation
happens to be Judaism, but besides that I am just like everyone else. While in Europe, Jews had a
distinct identity, their own language and vibrant culture. Though I am incredibly grateful to the United
States for all of the rights and liberties that I am provided, and though it seems ridiculous to complain
about being accepted by the populace, there is something about this great country that zaps the vitality
of foreign cultures and assimilates its many distinct peoples into a flavorless whole.
For the abundance of stories Rabbi Lipstein told, there was one topic that he never discussed, the War.
His stories all occurred before the year 1939. He never even told us the circumstances of how he got
to this country, that was all left to speculation.
Rabbi Lipstein clears his throat and then asks the class another question pertaining to the required
length of the lulav. As usual, no one raises their hands besides the first

Drunk Driving Essay
Worldwide, 1.2 million people are killed and 50 million people are injured yearly from traffic
accidents, costing around $500 billion dollars, forty percent of the accidents involve alcohol impaired
drivers (Wu, 2016). Many people drive while under the influence of alcohol because they do not see
the risk of getting into an accident or potentially injuring someone. They only see the convenience of
not leaving their car somewhere or purchasing a driving service. Driving while under the influence of

Twenty eight people in the United States are killed in traffic accidents that include a drunk driver
every day which adds up to approximately one death every 51 minutes ( Motor Vehicle , 2017). There
is a devastating amount of human life taken by accidents involving a drunk driver. Due to a selfish and
quick decision, so many people with futures, goals, and aspirations have died. In 2015, 10,265 people
died in alcohol impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one third (29%) of all traffic related
deaths in the United States ( Motor Vehicle , 2017, p. 1). The impact on human life is calamitous and
needs to be addressed.
Drunk driving also impacts people legally. Specifically, in WA BAC measured above 0.08 is
considered a DUI while a BAC above 0.15 is considered an aggravated DUI, or a DUI that results in
higher fines, increased jail time, and a longer license suspension period (Hansen, 2014, p. 1582),
however, the punishment varies from state to state. The punishment when caught drunk driving is
extortionate, reasonably so, but some are never caught before it is too late. Although it may seem
easier at times or from a thoughtless decision, the legal punishment along with all the risks make
drunk driving s consequences severe. It is likely that many drunk drivers will be caught by law
enforcement because they look for indicators such as erratic driving so that they can stop accidents
from happening. However, they cannot catch

Cross Country Season Analysis
Hello yellow jackets! This week was an off week for us. What I mean by this is that during the cross
country season we have meets every other week. When I first came from high school, where I had a
meet every weekend, I wasn t used to this, but now that I am in college I realize how beneficial this is!
In college our races are longer, the training is more rigorous and we also have an increased academic
load as students. Having races every other week also allows us to give our bodies rest and then when
we race we can really give our all. Next week we will host the Friendship Invitational and we have a
lot of schools coming this year that haven t in the past, so we are looking forward to the tougher
competition!
Coming off of Labor Day weekend this week, we had a workout on Tuesday. We did mile repeats on
the cross country course. Although some people were tired, as a majority our team saw improvements

twofold sangha of monks and nuns. So if the women themselves don t step up and form a place where
they can be treated as equal, there will never be a place for them to pull through the hardship that is
put upon them within the Buddhist. After all this is because of a typecast that is assigned to them

A Christmas Holiday Speech
Good evening, parents, and family of children in the Mt. Pleasant Schools District and thank you for
attending this PTA meeting. I know it s cold and snowing out there, but I hope that this song is
bringing you a little warmth in your heart. However, for some of you it has also put that anxious,
worried feeling in the pit of your stomach because the countdown has begun, 10 more days until
Christmas and as world is decked out in bright lights and lots of glitter, a significant amount of people
stress about even finding something to eat this Christmas.
II. It starts off, it seems, even before Halloween ends, when the stores start advertising Black Friday
sales and putting up everything related to Christmas, from gift sets to Christmas decorations on the
shelves.
A. Thanksgiving has been taken over by Black Friday.
1. In my opinion, when walking into a Supermarket there is hardly any Thanksgiving themed products
on the selves.
2. Instead of with spending time with family or friends on Thanksgiving some people spend it
standing in those long ridiculous, lines for Black Friday deals.
a. According toa National Retail Federation s annual survey, this year 2017 an estimated 69% of
Americans (about 164 million people) plan to shop during Thanksgiving weekend and spend about
$967 on Christmas gifts .

Some of the research findings are listed below: Adults will commit to learning when they believe that
the objectives are realistic and important for their personal and professional needs. Adults desire to be
the origin of their own learning and should have some control over the what, who, how, why, when,
and where of their learning. Coaching and other kinds of follow up support are needed because adult
learners do not automatically transfer learning into daily practice. Adults need feedback on the results
of their efforts. Adults need direct, concrete experiences for applying what they have learned to their
work. Adult learners come to the learning process with self direction and a wide range of previous
experiences. Employment for the purpose of coaching on a one to one basis responds to each of these
characteristics of adult learners whether they lead schools or private businesses. The authors further
discuss what coaching isn t. In order to understand the concept of coaching it is necessary to know
what coaching is not, and to review some of the practices that are infrequently confused with it.
Coaching is not training. Coaching is centered on context and design to respond to the needs of the
individual learner. Coaching is not mentoring although effective mentors use coaching skills and
strategies.

The Effect Of Birth Order On Personality
For many years, there s been an ongoing debate as to whether birth order truly has an effect on the
way we behave throughout our development. The article I ve selected argues against the notion that
these two correlate. The sample can be found at PNAS.org, otherwise known as the Proceedings of the
National Academy of the United States of America. Titled, Examining the Effects of Birth Order on
Personality three authors collectively come to this agreement that there are no lasting effects from
birth order in long term personality traits. The names of these authors are, Julia M. Roher, Boris
Eglaff, and Stefan C. Schmukle. They explore previous research on the subject from various
psychologists, and later decide to conduct their own research and draw conclusions thereafter.
I found the article to be very straightforward in its approach. The subject matter was presented clearly
within the opening sentences. Each point was elaborated thoroughly, and it was written in a way both
professionals, and average readers could comprehend the language. The terms were relatively
relatable, no advanced medical terminology was mentioned, and evidence was given for each
argument presented in their research. Statistics and table charts played a significant role in
demonstrating credibility of the findings.
There were three distinct points made in contrast to birth order affecting personality. Age, sibship size,
and family design. Age was a contributing factor in terms of long standing

  • 2. The Physics Of Atomic Structure Lesson 1 1. Increasing current funding for atomic structure would be a fantastic idea which could lead to discoveries beyond our imagination. For instance, in the quantum mechanical model, the fact that it is unable to tell the exact location and speed of the electron and cannot describe the electron as a particle orbiting a fixed path around the nucleus provides evidential support that funding must be placed into this to further our knowledge. This research could potentially result in terminating the use of probability mathematical equations and replacing them with facts. By just looking at the many revised versions of the atomic structure, we are able to see that there is potential in knowing more which could lead to even more ... There is a difference in energy between the two lines because the electrons move from higher to lower orbitals. The line within the visible spectrum is an electron that is moving from a 5th orbital to a 2nd and the line within the Ultraviolet area is an electron moving from a 6th orbital to a 2nd, thus meaning that the line within the visible spectrum gives off less energy when releasing light whereas the ultraviolet spectrum gives off more energy. 3. a) b) After reviewing the diagram, you can conclude that the Zr4+ ion exists because in order for the Zr atom to become stable, it gets rid of 4 electrons from the 4d and 5s orbitals. c) The Zr4+ ion is more stable because it outer shell (valance shell) is complete following the octet rule. The Novel The Handmaid Tale Imagine knowing that a group of people are attempting to take full control of society and the way to live life, but there is nothing that can be done to stop them from accomplishing it. That s exactly what has been occurring to societies around the world for centuries: Hitler in Germany, Stalin in Russia, and Idi Amin in Uganda, but still continues due to a leader or Regime s clever techniques to gradually attain power in society without the acknowledgement of citizens. Similarly, in the dystopian novel The Handmaids Tale, a staged terrorist attack kills the President, which leads to the government being taken over by the Republic of Gilead, who ultimately transforms the state of Gilead into a women s nightmare. The women in the novel are forced to be sex slaves in society, in order to produce babies for the infertile men in the state of Gilead, where fertility rates are significantly low. However, the Republic of Gilead forces citizens to follow their theocratic ideology through misleading the entire population with their clever techniques to accomplish their goal of having full power and eventually form a totalitarian society. Thus, in The Handmaids Tale, by Margaret Atwood, misinterpreted references to the bible s scriptures and manipulative techniques are used by the Regime of Gilead to form a totalitarian society. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, FDI is said to be the most important contributing factor for Malaysia s economic performance. The early beginnings of luring foreign investors to Malaysian soil started with the introduction of the Investment Incentives Act 1968, and followed by the establishment of the Free Trade Zones (FTZs) during the Second Malaysia Plan (1971 75). Since then, Malaysia has attracted a large portion of the investment dollar that flowed into Asia. In 1995, for example, Malaysia was the second largest FDI recipient among Asian economies at US$ 5.8 billion. Malaysia recorded inward FDI of USD 7.3 billion and USD 6.3 billion in 1996 and 1997 respectively. The lower figures in 1997 may be attributed to the lack of confidence as a result of the Asian financial crisis but by 1998, figures indicate that investor confidence had improved. Malaysia s highest FDI inflow was recorded in 2007 when the amount surged to USD 8.4 billion from USD 6.0 billion in 2006. FDIs are private sector investments that are made by a company into a foreign country. Foreign direct investments create a strong demand for a local currency and help boost the economy. With money coming into a country, strong foreign direct investment is one way governments can finance current account deficits. However, just as funds flow in, they also can flow out,

S. economic penetration was not as great as that of France and Germany, but by 1910 it controlled sixty percent of Haiti s import industry. Unfortunately, the Haitian banking system did not follow this path and was, at this time, perilously close to domination by European interests. (Langley, 1982, 70) In an effort to gain more control over Haitian economic affairs, the United States engaged in a battle with France and Germany over the Banque Nationale. Two banks from the U. The Wilson Administration also saw political instability as Haiti s primary and immediate problem. Between 1911 and U. S. military intervention in 1915, seven Haitian presidents had either been assassinated or removed from office by force. This lack of stability gave the United States yet one more excuse to get involved in Haitian matters in order to keep European powers at bay and from taking advantage of the politically vulnerable state. In creating his Haitian political agenda, Wilson relied to a great extent on the advice of Banque Nationale s American manager Roger Farnham. As stated above, Farnham and the Banque had a great deal of power over the Haitian executives. When consulted by Wilson, Farnham deduced that American business would leave the republic unless the United States intervened to protect it. However, research by Slocum and Sonneveld (2006) has revealed that Sam Loyd did not invent the 15 puzzle and had nothing to do with promoting or popularizing it. The puzzle craze that was created by the 15 puzzle began in January 1880 in the United States and in April in Europe and ended by July 1880. Loyd first claimed in 1891 that he invented the puzzle, and he continued until his death a 20 year campaign to falsely take credit for the puzzle. People start looking around for essentially human sacrifices (?). A scapegoat is a person or a group of people who are punished for the mistakes of others. In the history of our society, scapegoats have been both necessary and important. The reason for this is because it unites people and can be seen as a temporary solution to problems that a society may be facing. Is it easier to get rid of individuals or groups of people than it is to solve the underlying problem? History shows that it is common for scapegoating to be used especially under stressful situations. Psychologically uncomfortable feelings such as anger, frustration, envy, guilt, and fear are projected onto another person or group. This is the human ego at work. Scapegoating has been a part of our history and although it was more barbaric in the past, as a society we still express the same wants and feelings in different ways. For example, in ancient society, humans and animals were sacrificed after a disaster in hopes that the community would avoid further punishment from the gods. In the bible days, the people sacrificed goats and lambs as a cleansing for their sins. Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son Isaac, he was to be used as a scapegoat to prove Abraham s love for God. In the end, God provided Abraham with a sacrificial lamb instead. This is one ... The trade volumes are at record high levels with China and the appreciation of the exchange rates have provided a boost to the economy. There has also been a rise in the resource investment, which has seen a reallocation of factors of production, which has lead to employment growth in these sectors. The focus of the Asian economies is on the production and consumption of goods and the commodity intensive nature of this rise has led to an increase in commodity prices. This has led to an increase in the productive capacity, which supports the exports, employment, incomes, taxes and wealth of the Australian population. The strength of the resource sector has had a positive effects on the exchange rate which when combined with the stable inflation rate has led to a significant increase in wage dollar of the working population (Plumb, Kent, Bishop, Implications for the Australian Economy of Strong Growth in Asia, 2013). It s creator, Gene Roddenberry, did not create the show to be a science fiction series. The series was much deeper than that. It wasn t just about discovering new planets and civilizations. It was about controversial issues. Even though the series take place in the 23rd and 24th century the issues struck with the times and related current issues. The progression of women in Star Trek has been appropriately timed and has even pushed a little bit past the time. Even though Uhura basically played the role of a secretary her role still pushed the envelope for the time because of her race. She was a black actress during or right after the civil rights movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough for her role in the series. However, after Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have progressed from a secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in command or the captain. Their progress allows them to be more influential. Let s talk more specifically about the Next Generation series. The Original series showed the four starring male roles to provide everything for the crew. This is not the case in Next Generation. Next Generation is more like a family with a father, a mother and children. But who were the biggest members of the family? There are four characters, which give the presence of a family on Next Generation. First, you have the father. This is actually quite simple. You have Captain Picard who plays the father. • 26. The Basic Idea Underlying Purchasing Power Parity II. Purchasing Power Parity i. Intuition The basic idea underlying purchasing power parity is the law of one price. That is to say, once the prices of the same bundle of goods in different countries are measured using the same currency, they should be identical. As a consequence, no arbitrage in equilibrium will force the goods prices to be equalised internationally. Consider a situation where there are only 2 countries, say, China with the Chinese yuan as its currency unit and Japan with the Japanese yen as its currency unit. We can express the exchange rate as either the number of yuan per yen, or its reciprocal the number of yen per yuan. For instance, suppose that the exchange rate, defined as the number of yen it takes to buy one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus, for this example, we can see that if PPP holds, there is equalisation in goods prices internationally. The key to the appealingness of PPP is that that if PPP is valid, then there is no goods arbitrage, which indicates that it is impossible that economic agents can gain riskless profit by exploiting price differences. Suppose the price of the good is 100 CNY in China and 2000 JPY in Japan, and the exchange rate is 0.01 CNY: 1 JPY. Then this good could be bought for 2000 JPY in Japan and imported into China (assuming no transportation costs) at selling at a price which when converted into yuan at the going exchange rate would be 20 yuan (=2000×0.01), some 80 yuan less than the domestic price. In this case, the existence of arbitrage opportunities will force the exchange rate to be adjusted in order to reflect the relative price of the good in the two countries. As a result, the exchange rate should adjust to 0.05 CNY: 1 JPY for the sake of ruling out arbitrage opportunities. It is assumed that there is no transportation costs in this example; however, even if transportation costs do exist, economic agents may still be able to gain riskless profit. If the cost of importation is 100 yen per unit, which is equal to 1 yuan at the current exchange rate, the imported good is still 79 yuan cheaper. ii. Complications of Testing PPP According to ... Physicians during that time knew very little about stroke and the only thing that could be done for the condition was to feed and care for the patient. The first person to investigate apoplexy was a Swiss scientist named Johann Wepfer in 1620. By natural design, women are not good with money, with planning, or with complicated thinking. They are certainly the underclass of the sexes. This condition was caused by the fact that women were forced to mold themselves into a model themselves that men deem desirable and best. For starters the Serb forces showed much nationalism by joining up in a group of 16 Serb Political members and writing the Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts. For them, is was supposedly to support a solution of Yugoslav unity but instead focused depently on disapproving president Tito s ways. In fact in 1987, the president of Serbia, Slobodan Milošević, was openly supportive of the document and was even the spokes person for it. Heaping is a special case of data coarsening where respondents round quantitative information (e.g. around one hectare may in reality be either 1.2 or 0.8 hectare). This could have an influence on the estimates of production functions, as happened with Schreinemachers (2006). Another problem was the farmers use local reference units and we lack conversion tables for those units. For instance, outputs of some crops such as plantain, cassava or fruits were reported in bunch or bags without specifying their weights in kg. In order to overcome this later problem, a conversion table was built during interviews, through asking members of the community with more education and also key experts.
