ABSTRACT
Apache Cassandra is another open source distributed database management system developed to
handle large data sets. It is a gift given to the big data users by Facebook in 2008. The purpose of
this research is to highlight the importance of Cassandra in the world of NoSQL by discussing
about some of the main questions like, what are the difficulties faced with the traditional relational
database management systems, how these issues are solved by using NoSQL, how Cassandra
came into existence, why it is used by some of the major organizations to handle their data sets, etc.

There are many NoSQL databases and each either have some common functionalities or have some
unique functionalities when compared to the relational model. The main thing to be considered is
that none of the NoSQL results work for all scenarios. Each works better than the relational
models and satisfies some subsets of the use cases. Apache Cassandra is one of the NoSQL
databases which is most widely used in the industrial market. This article gives a detailed
information about Cassandra, its functionalities, its advantages and disadvantages which seem to be
deceptive for someone who look at Cassandra for the first time.
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1. Difficulties with traditional RDBMS
In the initial stages of evolution of databases, relational databases systems was designed as a
solution to the problems of flat file databases. A relational databasestores data in multiple table.
This technique helped to overcome the issues like data duplication, data noise and inconsistency
which ensured that the data is entered and stored only once. Later as the data grew in size, it
became a challenging task to handle such a significantly large amount of data. Key features like
high data velocity, data variety, data volume and data complexity are few important reasons which

Before I read Danah Boyd s essay, I was confused with the title Viewing American class divisions
through Facebook and MySpace. I was thinking how American class (in school) divided by these
social networks, but now I understand that she was talking about social class. Her content was
abundant that she used such advanced terminologies to describe those users of MySpace and
Facebook. The most wonderful part of this essaywas she used neutural (but a little bit partial) point

She described how good kids are flocking in Facebook and bad kids are flocking in MySpace.
Many of them left MySpace for Facebook in high school. Those who use MySpace tend to be high
school graduated in working class and those who use Facebook are upper class with higher college

Enterprise risk management views all risks to the firm as subject to management and control
(Fraser Simkins, 2010, p. 351). As we have learned, Enterprise Risk Management has three
primary principles, which are: ensure organizational survival, provide social responsibility, and

When justifying a punishment, American adjudicators look for five reasons to justify the
punishment: incapacitation, restitution, deterrence, rehabilitations and retribution. Out of these
five reasons only three apply to doxxing and even then they are classified as deeply noted social
ills (racism, sexism and homophobia) to shame others. Stryker continually states that people are
bound to impulses they hate.
Having demonstrated how the use of technology can influence young generations, Stryker goes
on to say that punishing those who make bad and or racist remarks only breeks further hatred.
Stryker uses a hypothetical example to support his claim and explain why. He continues to go
further and give real world examples of how a New York City EMT was fired because of his
racist tweets on his online profile (Stryker 588). This strengthened Stryker s position on how
publicly shaming an individual only causes more harm and problems.
During Stryker s claim he provides an excellent example of how news wants to get everything
out first even if it is not accurate. The example he provides is from Sandy Hook and how in the
beginning of a major event reporters are notoriously bad at getting the facts straight (Stryker 589).

Prior to completing my MBA program, a couple of my professors approached me and asked if I
was considering on pursuing a doctorate degree. As a result, I explained my excitement to
proceed, but the fear of failing and financing was holding me back. The professors were very

Why are people so obsessed with vampires today that they go crazy over any book, movie, or tv
show that has a vampire? In 1897, the year Dracula was published Britain was at the height of the
empire expanding. Britain had conquered huge expanses of land from Africa, Asia, and North
America and used the land for military and economic power. The rise of the United States and
European powers threatened to unseat Britain and the world s most powerful nation, at the time this
was occurring a rise in immigration brought unfamiliar races and cultures. Dracula, as an immigrant
from the easternmost edge of Europe represented many of the popular prejudices against outsiders.
A year after Dracula published, British author H.G. Wells exploited similar anxieties in his alien

This workshop will be very informative and provide information that will be both beneficial to
both parties. The title of the workshop is called Starting over again and will be held on March
18, 2015 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Community Center in Jefferson
County. The doors will be open to all who wish to attend. The workshop will have specialists
who will elaborate on such topics such as: The many challenges faced by returning prisoners,
What race has to do with it, how incarceration affects the families and children, and The agencies
and organizations that are helping families and prisoners reconnect. There will be discussion on
other topics as well. However, during the workshop that will be breakout sessions that will be
conducted by counselors for those who are interesting in taking up some type of trade or wants to
attend school for a higher education. The goal for the Starting over again workshop is to help the
incarcerated individual reintegrate back into his or her community. The encounters that one faces

Differences Between New England And Southern Colonies
The three colonial regions varied in their societies and in their economies. New England didn t
have good farming land, but had an abundance in fishing. Middle Colonies had a little more luck
in farming with better soil and some slaves. Southern Colonies had the perfect environment for
bunches of crops and had the most slaves. All three regions did farm and own slaves, but from
least amount of slaves to most it went New England, Middle Colonies, and Southern Colonies.
Overall, all the colonies economies and societies flourished, but each regions were similar and
