Herzberg s Theory Of Employee Retention
Employee retention refers to the ability of an organization to retain its employees. Employee retention
can be represented by a simple statistic (for example, a retention rate of 80% usually indicates that an
organization kept 80% of its employees in a given period). However, many consider employee
retention as relating to the efforts by which employers attempt to retain employees in their workforce.
In this sense, retention becomes the strategies rather than the outcome. A distinction should be drawn
between low performing employees and top performers, and efforts to retain employees should be
targeted at valuable, contributing employees. Employee turnover is a symptom of deeper issues that
have not been resolved, which may include low employee morale, absence of a clear career path, lack
of recognition, poor employee manager relationships or many other issues. A lack of satisfaction and
commitment to the organization can also cause an employee to withdraw and ... Show more content on

The theories have overlap, but the fundamental nature of each model differs. While Maslow s
Hierarchy implies the addition or removal of the same need stimuli will enhance or detract from the
employee s satisfaction, Herzberg s findings indicate that factors garnering job satisfaction are
separate from factors leading to poor job satisfaction and employee turnover. Herzberg s system of
needs is segmented into motivators and hygiene factors. Like Maslow s Hierarchy, motivators are
often unexpected bonuses that foster the desire to excel. Hygiene factors include expected conditions
that if missing will create dissatisfaction. Examples of hygiene factors include bathrooms, lighting,
and the appropriate tools for a given job. Employers must utilize positive reinforcement methods
while maintaining expected hygiene factors to maximize employee satisfaction and retention

Ovalbumin Research Paper
Ovalbumin is the main protein that is found in egg whites, which make up 55% of the total protein. Its
main function is to provide a reserve of amino acids for developing embryos. [1] Proteins are purified
by the method of sulphat e precipitation. This technique is useful as it removes large amounts of
contaminant proteins.
Some proteins are made up of amino acids that contain sulphur. There are only two amino acids that
contain sulphur, Methionine and Cysteine. Methionine has a thioether side chain, (CH2)2 S CH3,
whereas, cysteine has a thiol group side chain, CH2 SH. In proteins, the cysteine side chains form
covalent bonds between each other to produce disulphide bonds, as a result of oxidation. The process
of oxidation produces stable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It reacts with free sulfhydryl groups to yield a mixed disulphide and TNB (2 nitro 5 thiobenzoic acid).
DTNB targets the conjugate base (R S) of free sulfhydryl groups. TNB is a bright yellow coloured
species that is produced in the reaction and has a high molar extinction coefficient which can be seen
in the visible range. [3]
The molar extinction coefficient, originally reported by Ellman (1959) [4], was 13.6 x 106M 1cm 1 at
412nm and pH 8.0. [5] The increase in absorbance at 412nm can be used to measure reactive thiol
groups. The colour change observed is due to the presence of S anions. DTNB is very useful as a
sulfhydryl assay reagent because of its specificity for ‐SH groups at neutral pH, high molar extinction
coefficient and short reaction time. [6] Thionitrobenzoate is produced by a further reaction which
takes place in the presence of excess thiol, RSH.
SDS (sodium dodecyl sulphate) is a chemical agent that is used to denature protein molecules by
straightening the polypeptide chain. Disulphide bonds are found in the tertiary structure of proteins
and would not react if the protein remained folded. Without SDS, there would not be any thiol groups

Are We Racist Essay
The writer starts off by analyzing a video and then asking the question of whether or not you are racist
if you oppose the migration of the Syrian people. Then he goes on to mention the Paris attacks and the
casualties involved. He brings up other various attacks, statistics about the immigrants and a quote
from Donald Trump. Finally, concludes the paper with his personal views. Are we Racist? I recently
watched a video where a news reporter who was of Latino descent asked a loaded question to a
Caucasian male. Are you racist? At first, the question caught the white man, along with his
accompanying African American friend, off guard. He replied, Why is it that people who stand up for

Inventor Of Pi Research Paper
In today s essay , I will writing about Pi. You may know Pi from school , it consists of 3.14159 and so
on. Although we ve all most likely used it, what more do you know about Pi rather than using it in
formulas ? Today I will enrich your knowledge of Pi by presenting you with facts . Many of us believe
that Pi was invented by the mathematician named William Jones In the 1700 s. This isn t entirely false
but it s not exactly true . Jones was known for using the Pi symbol to represent the ratio. But no, Jones
did not invent Pi. Pi goes all the way back to the Ancient Egyptians Babylonians . As you probably
know , Pi plays a huge role in Circumference . Egyptians made circles before but didn t really

Although many historians think they have the right answer, they don t . There are no records of an
exact way Pi was invented , perhaps on accident like many inventions ? All that we know that is
entirely true is that the hunt for pi was initiated by the Babylonians and the Egyptians nearly 4,000
years ago. Now that we have the history of Pi out of the way, I bet you re intrigued on how people use
Pi on an everyday basis . Pi is mostly used In circumference also known as perimeter . There is
diameter and radius, diameter is solved by doing 3.14 * 12 while radius is solved by 2*3.14*6 squared
. In case you didn t know, diameter is the whole thing while radius is just half, which is why i used the
example of twelve and six. Pi is also used in people s everyday life , such as scientist when they
search for new planets outside of our solar system . In conclusion , Pi is very important and is used in
various ways. Although we may not give it much thought , Pi has saved our lives in ways we don t
even recognize . Just remember every time you walk past a circle it has something to do with

The Third And Final Constant Factor Essay
The third and final constant factor originates directly as a result of the anarchic international
environment. As stated, a state acts largely in its own best interest. However, given more than one
state exists, multiple interests oftentimes intersect. Competition, the final constant, results from this
intersection. Rarely, this competition spins out of control into armed conflict. Prior to engaging in war,
a state must carefully weigh any potential benefits against likely costs. Mearsheimer defines this as
calculated aggression. Most likely, state level competition remains at a level lower than war. Over
time, state power balances develop and eventually solidify. Most importantly, state competition, a state
s prevailing interest to secure an improved chance for its continued survival, remains firmly in place.
Seen in this light, both Waltz and Gilpin s arguments for modifying or upending this balance make
better sense. Waltz argues that the international structure limits state behavior. A state can pursue its
interest only so far as to not upset the international balance. Gilpin steps past Waltz concluding a state
can choose to remake the balance if it decides its benefits outweigh expected costs. One could view
Gilpin as a balanced (no pun intended) medium between Mearsheimer s aggression and Waltz s
caution. Despite their respective differences, in prescribing to a realist philosophy, Mearsheimer, Walz,
and Gilpin would each conclude persistent state

Radio in the New Age
Radio in the New Age
The essay is a popular form for writers to express their ideas. It can be found in many sources:
newspapers, magazines, and journals. The essay is no longer limited to these mediums, and as
communication technology develops, the essay has extended into new arenas. What was once an
exclusively paper and ink technology is now available over the airwaves and through the phone lines.
The essay has found its way to new formats through the radio and internet. We were once readers, but
have now become listeners and spectators through the cyberculture revolution.
The term cyberspace was invented by writer William Gibson to describe the interconnection of society

Listening to recorded essays allows for a greater involvement of the listener than by reading. The
narrator s voice is clearly distinct from the voice of each person in the converstaion. While names and
introductions are still used, they are not necessary since the vocal uniqueness of each speaker allows
for easy comprehension of the listener. Background sounds are often picked up through the essay
while the recorder is on site the call of a bird, the laughter of a crowd, a congested intersection and is
instantly filtered and prioritized by the listener to fill in a greater understanding of place. The audio
clues are further enhanced by selected music to provide a transition between paragraphs , or changes
in subject. These musical transitions are so effective in performing the subject change, as well as
holding the listeners attention so they don t wander to another channel, that an NPR web site is
dedicated to the musial interludes. At All Songs Considered, the viewer can listen to the entire track
from which the music transistion was taken. The viewer can then become buyer if he likes what is
heard.
The stories themselves evolve in the mind. Interpreting meaning from visual clues is significantly
different than interpreting meaning from audio clues. Miriam Schacht

My Personal Change Reflection
Micheal jackson said it best when he sang about changing the man in the mirror . During these past
twenty days I have participated in a personal change challenge. What my fellow classmates and I were
instructed to do was to add, delete or change something about our lives for twenty days and record our
findings in a personal journal. I decided that the change I needed in my life was motivation and
positivity. So each morning of the challenge, I started out with a motivational video. These videos was
suppose to make me happier, more productive and boost my mental health. However , here are the
results I recorded throughout this twenty day challenge. While I cannot remember who the speaker
was, I do remember that I was more offended than motivated. The video questioned my reasoning for
existing and asked what my purpose was in this world. Had I even began to leave my mark on this
Earth? I quickly started questioning everything I have ever done. However, after discussing the video
the topic with a few, well know teachers, I slowly found the motivation in the video and began to be
excited about the next nineteen days still yet to come. This excitement however, was short lived. Half
way through the challenge , I was ready to give up. As first the videos were motivational and i was
increasing being more productive throughout my day but as the days wore on the videos seemed to
only be repeating each other, one after another, each speaker saying the same exact words as

Why Was The Fall Of Constantinople A Turning Point
The fall of Constantinople was a turning point in history because it was the end of the Byzantine
Empire and was a catalyst for advanced weaponry development. After the fall of Constantinople the
Age of Exploration started. Constantinople was the capital of a very powerful empire. The previous
attacks to the capital contributed to its fall in 1453. Ottomans that had attacked under the rule of
Mehmed II had many advantages. Warfare had changed allowing the Ottomans to obtain new
weapons.
Ottomans were able to conquer Constantinople because of many things. The Ottomans were able to
buy the super cannon from Urban. This allowed them to constantly destroy parts of the thick wall that

Turn on the analytical scale and ensure that it reads zero before placing anything 3. Place the weight
boat on the scale and using the spatula, weight out the required amount of disodium EDTA salts, in
this case, 0.9306g as calculated, onto the weight boat 4. Record the exact amount used 5. Place a
funnel on a 250ml standard volumetric flask 6. Pour all the measured EDTA salts (in the weight boat)
into the 250ml volumetric flask 7. Using a pipette, add distilled water into the plastic tray to remove
any EDTA salts that may remain in the weight boat 8. Then add the solution to the volumetric flask 9.
Fill the volumetric flask half way with distilled water in order to have enough space in the volumetric
flask to swirl the solution in order to dissolve the EDTA salts with the distilled water 10. Place a cap
on the volumetric flask and swirl volumetric flask until the EDTA salts are dissolved completely and
no solids are present in the solution 11. Remove cap and fill volumetric flask with distilled water till
250ml line, using a pipette once the solution is closer to the line in a drop by drop rate to ensure the
solution is exactly at 250ml by looking eye level to the line 12. Place volumetric flask cap back onto
the volumetric flask and give a final swirl to equally distribute the EDTA solution 13. Label the

Julia Harris And Artur Samarin In The Great High School...
Everyone does crazy things. Sometimes, people cannot control themselves from acting out or doing
things that could harm others. Julia Snyde, the unsub from Gentlemen and Players by Joanne Harris
and Artur Samarin from The Great High School Impostor by Daniel Riley are portrayed as evil people
because they both make selfish decisions that hurt others around them to fulfil their motives of
extracting revenge on St Oswald s and having a comfortable life in the US respectively. But that is just
one side of the story. They have had very difficult upbringings and have never felt loved. Julia Snyde

result of PTSD caused by spending their childhood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, this does not work in either case as the relationships formed are emotionally damaging and even
illegal in the case of Artur. While pretending to be a boy to attend St Oswald s, Julia Snyde meets
Leon and immediately falls in love with him. But, Leon does not feel the same way. In fact, even
when he knows that Julia is in love with him, he continues to play with her emotions and makes her
spend time around him when he is with Francesa, his new girlfriend. Leon is a vain, self centred
teenager who enjoys tormenting Julia. Leon knows that Julia does not enjoy being around Francesa.
But, he forces her to. Snyde said that she had a shack... it was there that we went, I keeping watch,
smoking and trying not to listen to the sounds that came from the little shack behind me (Harris 213).
Leon makes Julia Snyde keep watch while he was sexual intercourse with Francesa just a few feet
away. Only a sick, mentally unstable human would do such things. He subjects both Julia and
Francesa to a feeling of him wanting the other and mentally torments Julia as she has to watch the love
of her life, be with another girl and she can t do anything about it. This affects Julia so heavily that she
is never able to have a good relationship with anyone in her life without feeling insecure about herself.
In fact, she harms or pushes people away before that can do the same to her. She

Religious Studies Courses On Christianity
Religious studies courses focusing on Christianity can benefit from reading Dashiell Hammett s The
Maltese Falcon. Why? Because religious studies can incorporate other studies as well. For example,
sociology can be used during religious studies courses to study why people believe in a specific deity
or how religion can affect the behavior of individuals. Psychology can be incorporated as well because
religion can have both negative and positive psychological effects. An example is how religion can be
used to persuade people to do both good and bad things depending on how it is taught and interpreted.
Focusing on the aspect of the deadly sins in The Maltese Falcon this novel can be used a tool to
diagnose and assign each character an aspect of sin to represent. This would give students a book other
than the bible to use as a reference to the behaviors that are associated with the seven deadly sins.
When we think of pride as humans we think of self confidence or satisfaction from one s
accomplishments, but what about hubris when self confidence becomes arrogance. Sam Spade our
main character described by Hammett in chapter one Samuel Spade s jaw was long and bony, his chin

The Importance Of Police Integrity In The Police
The world is full of crime and hate. When you think of criminal, an image pops in your head of
someone wearing bland clothing with a mask or a thug with gang tattoos. Some criminals are harder to
spot, like those who commit white collar crime. What happens when the police officers who are
supposed to enforce the law, are the actual criminals? During the 1990 s in Los Angeles, the Los
Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was full of police who were criminals. The Rampart incident is a
textbook example of how criminal activity can be found even in the law enforcement branch of our
society. To get a better understanding what police corruption is, one must understand the importance
of the police having integrity. Integrity means that a person is honest and has strong moral and will do
the right thing. For the police department in a community to have integrity, it means that there is little
or no misconduct by police officers and the office follow the Police Code of Ethics. The level of
integrity within each police department depends on how the department is managed, which then
dictates how officers act toward the community, and how the officers acts determines how the public
views the integrity of the police. (Police Integrity)
When police departments do not have integrity it is called police corruption. For corruption, three
distinct elements must be present, 1) miss use of authority, 2) miss use of official capacity, and 3) miss
use of personal attainment (Dantzker, 1995).

Classical Conditioning Paper
Although classical conditioning is something that most people experience in a daily basis, it may also
be the first thing someone remembers in a day. According to Olson and Hergenhahn (2009) classical
conditioning is defined as a type of learning in which a neutral stimulus comes to elicit a response
after being paired with a stimulus that naturally brings about that response. In this paper the subject is
to describe the theory of classical conditioning as well as describing a scenario in which one could
apply classical conditioning theory to, and bring forth the scenario by showing illustrations of how

This is known as the unconditioned stimulus (UCS). Meat is the unconditioned stimulus because at the
sight of the meat the dogs begin to salivate (Feldman, 2010). The dog s response to the meat educes
salivation and is known as the unconditioned response (UCR). An unconditioned response is defined
as a reflexive and natural response that is not connected to prior learning. Unconditioned responses
always occur in the presence of the unconditioned stimulus (Feldman, 2010). While conditioning the
dogs, Pavlov would ring a bell right before the presentation of meat. Eventually, the dogs would
associate the ringing of the bell with the meat. Therefore, the dogs would begin to salivate at the
sound of the bell. At this point, Pavlov could state that he had classically conditioned his dogs. The
bell which was a prior neutral stimulus had now become the conditioned stimulus (CS) that brought
forth the conditioned response (CR) of salivation (Feldman, 2010). Moreover, we have to ask what
would happen if these poor dogs were never again received food upon the ringing of the bell. This
would lead to extinction. Extinction occurs when a prior conditioned response decreases in frequency
and eventually disappears (Feldman, 2010). In order for Pavlov to unconditioned his dogs he would
have to break their association with the sound of the ringing bell and the presentation of food. To do so

Looking just at her clothing there are many hidden meaning behind everything she wears. Starting

Western Views On Human Nature
Eastern Human Nature In our quest for wisdom, the question of human nature is still up to debate.
Many philosophers ranging from Socrates to Buddha has questioned the nature of human life and of
our existence. But these philosophers do not share the same beliefs about our nature. Their beliefs are
as different as their place of origin. Socrates own philosophy may not be the same as an eastern
philosopher such as the Buddha. In western philosophy there is often a focus on the individual in the
case of human nature. In eastern philosophy there are various interpretations of the idea of human
nature and our existence.
In buddhism the goal is to reach Nibbana, enlightenment. TO reach enlightenment one would,
according to Buddhist belief, is to get rid of beliefs that stem from ourselves and reality. The Four
Noble Truths represents the realities of nature that cannot be denied. The first truth is that life is
suffering. Meaning that to live is to suffer, it is not to say that the entirety of life is to suffer, but that
suffering is a part of life. The second truth is the desire for what is liable to birth, impurity, decay, and
death. All examples of suffering as a part of the normal course of life. The third truth is that the
elimination of the desire, as told by the second truth, eliminates suffering. Simply saying that by
removing these desires one also removes the origin of suffering. The fourth noble truth is that to
eliminate the desire, one must follow the Eightfold

Informative Speech On Tattoos
Tattooing is a body modification practice used for centuries across the globe. Because of the multiple
origins of tattoos, there are several techniques and countless styles. Every tattoo is unique in meaning

Several tribes of Ancient Britons partook in tattooing as a sort of national pastime.
1.
In an article titled Ancient Britons: The Most Recognizable Tattoos of History that I accessed on June
12th, 2017, and was posted to Tattoo.com on February 16th, 2016, I learned that the tribes used ink
made from a plant called woad. It was diluted with urine and water, but because of the plants
antibacterial properties there was rarely ever a case of infection.
2.
We know of these tattooed tribes largely due to texts written by ancient Romans, who invaded the
British Isles, and in them they described the tattoos on the Britons as making them all the more
terrifying in battle.
C.
Evidence of tattoos is found not only on mummies or in text, but on the objects left behind by ancient

Moral courage. An ambiguous word used to describe the purpose of taking action for moral reasons
despite the risk of adverse consequences. Without us knowing, our moral courage is being challenged
each and every day in situations like being honest at the risk of criticism, or standing up for what you
believe in spite of being judged by other people. One s actions may be influenced by the opinions of
other people around them, hence why it can be challenging to gather up enough moral courage to

The Battle of Agincourt Essay
The Battle of Agincourt occurred in the middle Ages, on October 25, 1415. This battle is one of the

King Henry V wanted to continue the negotiations with France and made some demands that the

if France paid 1.6 million crowns; part of the debt owed his ancestors for the capture of John II. In

France refused to negotiate; so King Henry asked the Parliament to tax France for the inheritance that
they owed him. France ignored England s demands. On April 14, 1415, King Henry V asked the

Colombia s Political System And Policies
I was a stranger in a foreign country and I was surrounded by numerous people known to have killed
in the past. This is how I spent many afternoons during the summer of 2014. That year, I traveled to a
city called Cartagena in the South American country of Colombia. At this time, I had big plans of
studying law and getting involved in politics. I was involved in a joint program between my
undergraduate university and the University of Cartagena, which is where I was introduced to
Professor Germán Ruiz. Professor Ruiz worked in the university s global and public policy office and
I was offered an internship with him. I assumed I would be learning about Colombia s political system
and policies but I was surprisingly mistaken. The first day of my internship was the day Professor
Ruiz told me about Bonché. Bonché was a social project aimed at combating urban youth violence by
using sports to help generate a sustained dialogue between rival street gangs. The project would
engage youth gang members in certain outlets that would eventually lead toward open conversations
between enemies in an effort to better their communities as a team. I had the opportunity to be
involved in the beginning stages of this project. Professor Ruiz, one social worker, one former gang
member, and I would travel to the outlying neighborhoods in Cartagena and convince known violent
gang members to take part in our project and figure out how best to implement it. The first day of

education, income and occupation. Socioeconomic inequality is the mal and unequal treatment of
individuals. Typically, based on the amount of income they are able to obtain, basic human needs such
as health care, education, adequate housing and other social services become unavailable. In this essay
I will examine how health care is affected by socioeconomic inequality in both Canada and the United

Another finding in their studies was demonstrating that 67 percent of less fortunate males have a
greater chance of passing away each year, and 52 percent of less fortunate females have a greater

that if all Canadians were as healthy as the top 20 percent of income earners, there would be
approximately 40,000 fewer deaths each year. (Bryant, 2014, para. 4) According to the US Census
Bureau the average American is making approximately $50,756 each year. In America income
equality has a factor on a numerous amount of things. Not only are the paychecks very unequal, the
lifespan of rich people are increasingly longer than the lifespan of the poor American people.
According to Hamilton Health Sciences by the late 1990s the rich were living 4.5 years longer, and the

1. What do you understand by Maslow s Theory of Motivation? According to Abraham Maslow the
behaviour of an individual at a particular moment is usually determined by his strongest need. Needs
have a certain priority or hierarchy. As the more basic needs are satisfied an individual seeks to satisfy
the higher needs. If his basic needs are not met, efforts to satisfy the higher needs should be
postponed. Once a need is satisfied it loses its capacity to induce the man to work. Only unsatisfied ...

Mr. Vincent was a good and successful manager but he followed the traditional type of management

thinking that whatever he knows is enough as he was successful, but he was wrong because with other

The Effects Of Poverty On Indigenous People
Without land and control of their assets, Indigenous Peoples are destined to remain the world s poorest
communities with the worst health, highest mortality rate and shortest life span ( The Indigenous
Movement ). The Indigenous Peoples Movement works to acquire legal protection and works to raise
awareness towards the indigenous peoples causes globally. Indigenous peoples are generally defined
as individuals who belong to a highly conservative, culturally and linguistically different non
dominant social group, distinct from the modernly dominant society hoping to maintain that
separation with the superior culture. In addition, their cultures and traditional practices have been

These three factors, chronologically, are catalyzed in a domino effect commonly experienced by
indigenous peoples, thus being responsible for the high suicide rates. Statistical evidence for Latin
America indicates more than 80 percent of the region s indigenous peoples are still living in abject
poverty, a trend that has changed little since the early 1990s ( Latin America ). Because of the rising
poverty states, among the indigenous communities, a portion of the indigenous have resorted to
violent crimes. Opponents against helping indigenous peoples believe that the activities of the
indigenous risk the safety of the dominant societies, and thus should not be helped provoking thoughts
derived from observing the rising number of aboriginal peoples incarcerated in Australia over the
years: an exponential growth rate for indigenous incarceration has flooded the prisons with a
numerable quantity of indigenous peoples . It is understandable that one would conclude such an
alleged claim only by seeing the statistical facts, but without further investigation of the causes for
incarceration, many crucial details are absent that turn the tides of the argument towards an advocacy
for legislative and judicial systems to intrude and elicit repairs for legal complexities associated with
indigenous peoples. Procuring legislative support could decrease the numbers of poverty struck
indigenous communities and effect an ameliorable change in their social standing, thus projecting a
more respectful and less hostile view by the dominant

How Music Is Used For Advertising
How Music is Used in Commercials
Now adays and before music is an important factor in media advertising.
As media is tool for advertising and it reaches to many users and customers music can play very
significant role.
And music serve the general promotion targets in business. Jingle music is very common technique
for aiding the ad.
Most of popular companies in globe are very succesfull because of using Jingle music in their ads.
A very good jingle attracts the consumer s attention and makes them think again and again regarding a
product, a bad jingle could make the company popular for the wrong reasons. [...] When [background
music is] used appropriately, [it] is the catalyst of advertising. It augments pictures and colors words,
and often adds a form of energy available through no other source. (Hecker 1984)
Music could get many responses out of people as its played.
Music could touch our emotions like it could calm us, excite us sadden us, soothe us.
There is also no doubt that we are quite the musical species (Sacks, 2007). Humans are able to
remember music they have heard for a lifetime, as well as the emotions it triggered. We are fully
capable of memorizing thousands, if not more, musical pieces in our life, including song elements
such as lyrics, melody, tempo, rhythm and even pitch. Over the centuries, humans have made music
everywhere and the music we play spans from the easiest simple melody on a piano to a complex

The Library of Congress
b HISTORY /b br The Library of congress was established by an act of congress on April 24, 1800. It
was originally housed in the United States capitol. The collection, which stared out small at 740
volumes, slowly increased to over 3,000 volumes by 1814. That year, though, the British along with
the capitol burned those books during the assault on Washington. br br To rapidly replace the
collection, Thomas Jefferson offered his personal library to congress at no cost, describing the nature
of his books like so: I do not know that it contains any branch of science which Congress would wish

rapid action on the question of a separate structure its Librarian would soon be placed in the unhappy

Why Is Kat Admirable
Kat is an admirable character because she doesn t care what others think, she follows her own path
and above all isn t afraid to speak out when something needs to be said. The first reason why Kat is
admirable is because she doesn t care what others think or say about her. For example in the opening
scene when Kat is in her car and she stops next to a car full of popular girls they stare at her because
she is listening to rock music but Kat doesn t care what they think she still keeps blasting her rock
music. This teaches to do/listen to what makes you happy or what you like no matter what even if
people are saying things or staring. Another reason why Kat is admirable is that she follows her own

The Pros And Cons Of The Yuma Project
The yuma project was first authorized in May 10,1904 and was the first irrigation project in Yuma.
Thanks to the Yuma project many farms got water and the farms were finally able to produce goods.
Once the project was done many people found out that Yuma had water and it was able to be
transported to the farms, the population started to increase, but it didn t only just increased, it also
decreased by a little, but later on population started to expand once more. Developers also faced many
challenges, it wasn t easy for the developers to assemble the project. Something that was also a bit of a
problem to them was the cost of building, repairing, and paying the workers when the project was
being generated. The challenges that they had to face were not that simple.

The Role Of Physical Disabilities In Vulnerable Populations
Vulnerable populations such as individuals with physical disabilities require more specific nursing
care, whether it is in a hospital setting or out in the community. According to the Physical Disability
Council of North West Sydney (2009), physical disability pertains to total or partial loss of a person s
bodily functions (ex. walking, gross motor skills, bladder control etc.) and total or partial loss of a part
of the body (ex. an amputation) . John Hopkins University states, physical disabilities result from
congenital conditions, accidents or progressive neuromuscular diseases ( Physical Disabilities ).
Physical disabilities have varying degrees of severity; the same disability can affect individuals in
different ways. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (2015), in the
United States there are 35.2 million or 15% of adults with a physical functioning difficulty . Having a
physical disability is not a lifelong debilitating sentence for all; many people with physical disabilities
have jobs, families and lead a fulfilling life ( What is Physical Disability? ).
Physical disabilities can be broken down into two categories, musculoskeletal and neuromuscular
disabilities. According to the Handicaps Welfare Association (2012), musculoskeletal disability is
defined as, the inability to carry out distinctive activities associated with movements of the body parts
due to muscular or bony deformities, diseases, or degeneration and includes:

The Origin Of The Ais Indians
Long before the Western countries discovered North America, the Native Americans lived and thrived
here. Historians believe these wandering peoples crossed over a land bridge that formed when the
earth froze over, officially named Beringia, to get to North America. These nomadic Natives began
spreading and forming different tribes around North America. One of the many tribes was the Ais
Indians of Florida. By themselves, the tribes reigned the New World, but contact with the Westerns
began their tragic demise. Although little is known about the origins of the Ais Indians, historians do
know that they settled around 1000 BC. The Ais Indians were located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida,
from present day Cape Canaveral to St. Lucie. This area would have covered four counties: Brevard,
Indian River, St. Lucie, and the northern part of Martin. The Ais Indians resided in towns and villages
along the Indian River in huts. Similar to any group of people, the Ais had a leader called the Cacique.
The Cacique was determined by whom the most respected matrilineal family was in the tribe. Unlike
the traditions of the West, the Cacique would rule through suggestion instead of force. Regarding to
housing, the huts they lived in were framed with wood or sticks, then they were covered in palmetto
leaves to form walls and a roof. As expected, the Cacique s hut was larger and more furnished than the
rest of the huts. Their diet mainly consisted of fish, oysters, clams, snails, and sea grapes

My Papa s Waltz Rhyme Scheme
This short poem has a lot to say about a father and son s relationship even though it does not directly
say it. Theodore Roethke published My Papa s Waltz in 1942 and got the idea to write this poem from
one of his books The Lost Son. This poem can be interpreted as an abusive relationship between a son
and his father or simply a happy memory of a son dancing with his father. My Papa s Waltz is a
metaphor for a child being beat by his abusive father but plays it off as if it were just a dance.
The poem has a simple rhyme scheme in every stanza and it goes abab, cdcd, efef, ghgh. When saying
the poem the rhyming comes off as a beat and this can be related to the actual dance the waltz. When
dancing you dance to the beat and the rhyming Roethke

Internal And External Stakeholders
There are two kinds of stakeholders in any organization i.e. internal and external. the internal stake
holders are people within company that can be impacted by the actions of company and in turn
influence the actions of company and the external ones have similar function but they reside outside
the organizational boundaries (Needles, Powers, and Crosson, 2013). in case of Philips one of the
major internal stake holders are its employees, such that the employees give innovative ideas and
feedback to Philips and the company rewards them in return in form of acknowledgement, rewards
and compensation as they believe that employees have paramount role in customer satisfaction.
Employees have interest in the financial statements and the indices of financial operations presented in
the annual report so that they can have an idea of the ability of company to keep them employed and
give them adequate salaries and benefits. In addition other important external stakeholder is the

as a system of law and sound approaches by which corporations are directed and controlled focusing
on the internal and external corporate structures with the intention of monitoring the actions of
management and directors and thereby, mitigating agency risks which may stem from the misdeeds of

is a relatively new area and its development has been affected by theories from a number of
disciplines, including finance, economics, accounting, law, management, and organisational behavior.
Agency theory has probably affected the development of the corporate governance framework the
most. Agency theory identifies the agency relationship where one party, the principal, delegates work
to another party, the agent. In the context of a corporation, the owners are the principal and the
directors are the agent. In addition, there are other theories that have affected the development of
corporate governance, which include: transaction costs economics, stakeholder theory, and
stewardship theory. The development of corporate governance is a global occurrence and, as such, is a
complex area including legal, cultural, ownership, and other structural differences. Therefore, some
theories may be more appropriate and relevant to some countries than others. 1.4 Theories of

Feminism In Little Women By Louisa Alcott
Louisa Alcott s novel Little Women is posed during the Civil War. There are four girls: Meg, Jo, Beth,

displays many themes. However, feminism is one of the important themes displayed. During the Civil
War, women were expected to get married, and while Jo portrays feminism, she gets married in the
end of the novel. This aspect demonstrates that even though someone wants to change the way
something is, it cannot be completely changed because of society s ideals. In Alcott s novel Little

want shouldn t girls be allowed to do the same? Moreover, Jo reveals her feminist qualities by her self
reliance. Jo is a tomboy. She doesn t always act lady like and likes to fool around. During this time
period in the novel, this was not acceptable. Her father noticed some of these masculine qualities Jo
displayed. That s why before her father left for war he made her the man of the family. As it states in
the novel, I m the man of the family now Papa is away, and I shall provide the slippers, for he told me

show the manly qualities. During chapter twenty seven, Alcott describes Jo s femininity through
imagery. As it states, Jo enjoyed a taste of this satisfaction, and ceased to envy richer girls, taking
great comfort in the knowledge that she could supply her own wants, and need ask no one for a penny.
(Alcott 294) Although Jo wishes to be rich because everything would be easier, she knows that she has

What Role Does Fate Play In The Life Of Oedipus
Oedipus the King by Sophocles, emphasizes the role of fate in the world s everyday life, but
specifically in the life of Oedipus. The events that occur in Oedipus the King show how the
relationship between Oedipus and his fate are inseparable. His quest starting with fleeing from his

Through the confabulation between Tiresias and Oedipus, Sophocles compares fate being told by

In load balancing for the control plane SDN may cause the network controller to become a potential
performance bottleneck, to overcome this controller load balancing schemes have been used. They are
logically centralized and physically distributed controller, physically distributed controller,
hierarchical controller, hybrid controller, multithread controllers and generalized controllers. The
multithread controllers are developed to improve the request processing throughput. The parallelism
architecture of servers is used to provide high throughput with scalability at the controllers in
multithread multicore SDN controllers. The research challenges in flow management are dynamic
load balancing scheme for the data plane and dynamic load balancing scheme for the control plane.
Now coming to the second core i.e. fault tolerance: for ensuring the reliability of the network, SDN
must be able to perform the failure recovery straight forwardly and effortlessly when a failure occurs
in the network. Even though a switch could be used in such a failure, it has neither the insight nor the
information to make new route. For this it has to depend on the controller. In this manner, we discuss
the research efforts on fast failure recovery in SDN networks. For fault tolerance in the data plane we
have two failure recovery mechanisms, which are restoration and protection. In restoration, the
recovery path

excitement rushing through my body. She was standing there, all packed, wearing a Boston Red Sox
hat. We had gone shopping the night before for food and drinks we thought we needed. We had a
cooler full of ice and piled everything up in there and placed it in the trunk of our car along with our
tent, blankets, and other miscellaneous items we were going to need. Multiple pillows lined the
backseat, and a trashcan was placed on the floor to collect our ... Show more content on

Downstairs we picked up some breakfast that the hotel provided, checked out, and then got back on
the road headed to Tennessee. It wasn t long until we crossed the border into the Volunteer State, and
the first big city we stopped in was Nashville. We parked in a garage and walked around for a couple
hours, taking everything in. stores lined Main Street, filled with cowboy boots and souvenirs that
could draw anybody s attention. Knowing that we were on a tight schedule, we bought a few souvenirs
then were on our way to the last stop of the day. We know found ourselves in the boondocks of
Lebanon, Tennessee. I turned onto the dirt road that led to the campground we would be staying at.
After taking almost twenty minutes to set up our tent, we threw our air mattress inside and were forced
to blow it up on our own, since the electric pump decided to short circuit. The humidity was so heavy
that I nearly passed out because of it, but we both managed to make it through the night safely with
only a few bug bites. We were on the road again in the morning heading to our next hotel in Arkansas.
The landscape began to open up, and on either side I could see fields of corn span for miles. After
hundreds of miles, we made it to our next spot and got some much needed sleep. The next day, we
crossed over into Oklahoma. The landscape wasn t much different here, but this is where we met

Harriet Tubm An African American Abolitionist And...
Harriet Tubman was an African American abolitionist and humanitarian. Harriet Tubman was born in
Dorchester County, Maryland around 1820 1825 and died in Boston, Massachusetts of pneumonia in
1913. She was born into slavery, but successfully escaped in 1849 to become a leading abolitionist, yet
she returned many times to rescue both family members and non relatives from the plantation system.
She led hundreds of slaves to freedom in the North as the most famous conductor on the Underground
Railroad, an elaborate secret network of safe houses organized to help slaves get to the north and
escape slavery.
Harriet Tubman born Araminta Harriet Ross , was born into a difficult lifestyle because both her
parents, Harriet Green and Benn Ross, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although similar circumstances applied to Harriet Green and her children, the individuals who owned
them decided not to free them. Despite being free, Ben had little power to challenge their decision.
In 1844, Ross married a free black man named John Tubman. Although little is known about their
marriage, she adopted his last name. Any children they might have had would have been considered
enslaved, because the mother s status dictated that of any offspring. Araminta changed her name to
Harriet around the time of her marriage with John, it is believed she did this to honor her mother.
In 1849, Harriet s owner came down with illness that ended in her death. In fear that she was going to
be sold and her family was going to be torn part, Harriet Tubman decided to run away. She also feared
for own her fate as an injured and sick slave of low economic value. She initially fled with two of her
brothers, Ben and Henry, but they both changed their mind and returned to the planation after a notice
was published in the Cambridge Democrat offering a $300 reward for the return of the runaway
slaves. Harriet Tubman used the Underground Railroad to travel about ninety miles to Philadelphia,
only walking at night to avoid being seen and to follow the North Star, she made her way to
Pennsylvania and then Philadelphia. In Philadelphia, she found work and saved money. The

sets of specific keywords. After the exclusion and inclusion of certain filters, ProQuest Medical,

How Did Honey Affect Aboriginal Culture
Regarded as a very important part of the aboriginal culture, bees have been used by aborigines for
food, tools and trade for thousands of years. Honey held great values and was considered a sign of
respect. This was shown when honey was given to tribal elders by the hunters. Honey was treated as a
highly prized substance, giving as a gift or traded as a valuable product. If this valuable substance was
not traded or gifted, aborigines would simply use it to sweeten foods.
Referred to as Sugarbag by the aborigines, native honey contains a lot of resin from native trees such
as the eucalyptus tree. Due to its value, honey was scavenged for and found in nests located in trees,
stumps, rocky crevices and muddy river banks. In order for the aborigines to find native bee hives,
hunters would catch foraging bees and attach small pieces of light weight materials such as pieces of
feather, spider web or grass to the pollen sacs or resin that was being collected by the bees. ... Show

The bee s flight speed was then decreased and slow enough for the aboriginals to follow it back to its
hive.
Hives that were situated high in a tree were not disturbed by cutting down the tree, instead, the honey
was gathered by carving foot holes into the tree. This allowed for the aboriginals to climb up to the
hive. The contents of the hive would then be obtained and left to recover and rebuild, to be collected at
a later date.
Beeswax and resin were important for making weaponry. These bee by products were used to fasten
pieces of stone to wood. This would be achieved by heating the wax until it became a malleable liquid
and would then be poured over the two materials and left to dry. Once dried, the honey would harden
acting as a strong glue to hold the material together to be used for hunting

Determination of the Calorific Value of Ethanol and Paraffin
Determination of the Calorific Value of Fuels
Aim:
To quantify the amount of energy produced by different fuels and to determine which fuel is more
efficient (has a higher calorific value).
Introduction:
The easiest way to achieve our aim is by heating a substance with a known specific heat capacity and
using the energy released from burning our fuels. This will give us the value of the heat energy
released by the combustion of our two fuels.
The chemical reaction for combustion:
FUEL + O2 Heat energy released CO2 + H2O
It is the heat energy released that we are concerned with, the amount released in this reaction will
provide us with the calorific value for each fuel.

* Testing potential new fuels Oil companies looking for new fuel sources are interested only in
efficient fuels now for three reasons 1. The more efficient the fuel the less we will use and the longer it
will last. 2. The more energy we can get from only a small amount the higher the value of the fuel. 3.
If you use less fuel less combustion occurs and so less toxins and carnbon dioxide being released into
the atmosphere.
Diet/Energy Intake * Calories in food the food industry is a huge worldwide industry and is part of
everybody s life. For all those people wanting to lose weight they are looking for a large amount with
a low calorific value, however athletes will be looking for small amounts of food with a high calorific
value. It is a vital piece of information on the dieting and exercise industries.
From the theoretical results and my experimental results I have concluded that the candle (paraffin
wax) is the more efficient fuel source because it required a smaller amount of mass to provide the
same amount of energy as the

  • 2. Herzberg s Theory Of Employee Retention Employee retention refers to the ability of an organization to retain its employees. Employee retention can be represented by a simple statistic (for example, a retention rate of 80% usually indicates that an organization kept 80% of its employees in a given period). However, many consider employee retention as relating to the efforts by which employers attempt to retain employees in their workforce. In this sense, retention becomes the strategies rather than the outcome. A distinction should be drawn between low performing employees and top performers, and efforts to retain employees should be targeted at valuable, contributing employees. Employee turnover is a symptom of deeper issues that have not been resolved, which may include low employee morale, absence of a clear career path, lack of recognition, poor employee manager relationships or many other issues. A lack of satisfaction and commitment to the organization can also cause an employee to withdraw and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The theories have overlap, but the fundamental nature of each model differs. While Maslow s Hierarchy implies the addition or removal of the same need stimuli will enhance or detract from the employee s satisfaction, Herzberg s findings indicate that factors garnering job satisfaction are separate from factors leading to poor job satisfaction and employee turnover. Herzberg s system of needs is segmented into motivators and hygiene factors. Like Maslow s Hierarchy, motivators are often unexpected bonuses that foster the desire to excel. Hygiene factors include expected conditions that if missing will create dissatisfaction. Examples of hygiene factors include bathrooms, lighting, and the appropriate tools for a given job. Employers must utilize positive reinforcement methods while maintaining expected hygiene factors to maximize employee satisfaction and retention (Breaugh, J., and Mary S. ... • 3. Ovalbumin Research Paper Ovalbumin is the main protein that is found in egg whites, which make up 55% of the total protein. Its main function is to provide a reserve of amino acids for developing embryos. [1] Proteins are purified by the method of sulphat e precipitation. This technique is useful as it removes large amounts of contaminant proteins. Some proteins are made up of amino acids that contain sulphur. There are only two amino acids that contain sulphur, Methionine and Cysteine. Methionine has a thioether side chain, (CH2)2 S CH3, whereas, cysteine has a thiol group side chain, CH2 SH. In proteins, the cysteine side chains form covalent bonds between each other to produce disulphide bonds, as a result of oxidation. The process of oxidation produces stable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It reacts with free sulfhydryl groups to yield a mixed disulphide and TNB (2 nitro 5 thiobenzoic acid). DTNB targets the conjugate base (R S) of free sulfhydryl groups. TNB is a bright yellow coloured species that is produced in the reaction and has a high molar extinction coefficient which can be seen in the visible range. [3] The molar extinction coefficient, originally reported by Ellman (1959) [4], was 13.6 x 106M 1cm 1 at 412nm and pH 8.0. [5] The increase in absorbance at 412nm can be used to measure reactive thiol groups. The colour change observed is due to the presence of S anions. DTNB is very useful as a sulfhydryl assay reagent because of its specificity for ‐SH groups at neutral pH, high molar extinction coefficient and short reaction time. [6] Thionitrobenzoate is produced by a further reaction which takes place in the presence of excess thiol, RSH. SDS (sodium dodecyl sulphate) is a chemical agent that is used to denature protein molecules by straightening the polypeptide chain. Disulphide bonds are found in the tertiary structure of proteins and would not react if the protein remained folded. Without SDS, there would not be any thiol groups ... Many of us believe that Pi was invented by the mathematician named William Jones In the 1700 s. This isn t entirely false but it s not exactly true . • 6. The Third And Final Constant Factor Essay The third and final constant factor originates directly as a result of the anarchic international environment. As stated, a state acts largely in its own best interest. However, given more than one state exists, multiple interests oftentimes intersect. Competition, the final constant, results from this intersection. Rarely, this competition spins out of control into armed conflict. Prior to engaging in war, a state must carefully weigh any potential benefits against likely costs. Mearsheimer defines this as calculated aggression. Most likely, state level competition remains at a level lower than war. Over time, state power balances develop and eventually solidify. Most importantly, state competition, a state s prevailing interest to secure an improved chance for its continued survival, remains firmly in place. Seen in this light, both Waltz and Gilpin s arguments for modifying or upending this balance make better sense. Waltz argues that the international structure limits state behavior. A state can pursue its interest only so far as to not upset the international balance. Gilpin steps past Waltz concluding a state can choose to remake the balance if it decides its benefits outweigh expected costs. One could view Gilpin as a balanced (no pun intended) medium between Mearsheimer s aggression and Waltz s caution. Despite their respective differences, in prescribing to a realist philosophy, Mearsheimer, Walz, and Gilpin would each conclude persistent state ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What my fellow classmates and I were instructed to do was to add, delete or change something about our lives for twenty days and record our findings in a personal journal. I decided that the change I needed in my life was motivation and positivity. So each morning of the challenge, I started out with a motivational video. These videos was suppose to make me happier, more productive and boost my mental health. However , here are the results I recorded throughout this twenty day challenge. While I cannot remember who the speaker was, I do remember that I was more offended than motivated. The video questioned my reasoning for existing and asked what my purpose was in this world. Had I even began to leave my mark on this Earth? I quickly started questioning everything I have ever done. However, after discussing the video the topic with a few, well know teachers, I slowly found the motivation in the video and began to be excited about the next nineteen days still yet to come. This excitement however, was short lived. Half way through the challenge , I was ready to give up. As first the videos were motivational and i was increasing being more productive throughout my day but as the days wore on the videos seemed to only be repeating each other, one after another, each speaker saying the same exact words as ... • 13. Religious Studies Courses On Christianity Religious studies courses focusing on Christianity can benefit from reading Dashiell Hammett s The Maltese Falcon. Why? Because religious studies can incorporate other studies as well. For example, sociology can be used during religious studies courses to study why people believe in a specific deity or how religion can affect the behavior of individuals. Psychology can be incorporated as well because religion can have both negative and positive psychological effects. An example is how religion can be used to persuade people to do both good and bad things depending on how it is taught and interpreted. Focusing on the aspect of the deadly sins in The Maltese Falcon this novel can be used a tool to diagnose and assign each character an aspect of sin to represent. This would give students a book other than the bible to use as a reference to the behaviors that are associated with the seven deadly sins. When we think of pride as humans we think of self confidence or satisfaction from one s accomplishments, but what about hubris when self confidence becomes arrogance. Sam Spade our main character described by Hammett in chapter one Samuel Spade s jaw was long and bony, his chin a jutting v under the more flexible v of his mouth. • 14. The Importance Of Police Integrity In The Police The world is full of crime and hate. When you think of criminal, an image pops in your head of someone wearing bland clothing with a mask or a thug with gang tattoos. Some criminals are harder to spot, like those who commit white collar crime. What happens when the police officers who are supposed to enforce the law, are the actual criminals? During the 1990 s in Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) was full of police who were criminals. The Rampart incident is a textbook example of how criminal activity can be found even in the law enforcement branch of our society. To get a better understanding what police corruption is, one must understand the importance of the police having integrity. Integrity means that a person is honest and has strong moral and will do the right thing. For the police department in a community to have integrity, it means that there is little or no misconduct by police officers and the office follow the Police Code of Ethics. The level of integrity within each police department depends on how the department is managed, which then dictates how officers act toward the community, and how the officers acts determines how the public views the integrity of the police. (Police Integrity) When police departments do not have integrity it is called police corruption. For corruption, three distinct elements must be present, 1) miss use of authority, 2) miss use of official capacity, and 3) miss use of personal attainment (Dantzker, 1995). ... Classical Conditioning Paper Classical Conditioning Paper Lakeshia Jackson Psy 390 August 1, 2011 Gary Burk Classical Conditioning Paper Although classical conditioning is something that most people experience in a daily basis, it may also be the first thing someone remembers in a day. According to Olson and Hergenhahn (2009) classical conditioning is defined as a type of learning in which a neutral stimulus comes to elicit a response after being paired with a stimulus that naturally brings about that response. In this paper the subject is to describe the theory of classical conditioning as well as describing a scenario in which one could apply classical conditioning theory to, and bring forth the scenario by showing illustrations of how this could be used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is known as the unconditioned stimulus (UCS). Meat is the unconditioned stimulus because at the sight of the meat the dogs begin to salivate (Feldman, 2010). The dog s response to the meat educes salivation and is known as the unconditioned response (UCR). An unconditioned response is defined as a reflexive and natural response that is not connected to prior learning. Unconditioned responses always occur in the presence of the unconditioned stimulus (Feldman, 2010). While conditioning the dogs, Pavlov would ring a bell right before the presentation of meat. Eventually, the dogs would associate the ringing of the bell with the meat. Therefore, the dogs would begin to salivate at the sound of the bell. At this point, Pavlov could state that he had classically conditioned his dogs. The bell which was a prior neutral stimulus had now become the conditioned stimulus (CS) that brought forth the conditioned response (CR) of salivation (Feldman, 2010). Moreover, we have to ask what would happen if these poor dogs were never again received food upon the ringing of the bell. This would lead to extinction. Extinction occurs when a prior conditioned response decreases in frequency and eventually disappears (Feldman, 2010). In order for Pavlov to unconditioned his dogs he would have to break their association with the sound of the ringing bell and the presentation of food. To do so he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Western Views On Human Nature Eastern Human Nature In our quest for wisdom, the question of human nature is still up to debate. Many philosophers ranging from Socrates to Buddha has questioned the nature of human life and of our existence. But these philosophers do not share the same beliefs about our nature. Their beliefs are as different as their place of origin. Socrates own philosophy may not be the same as an eastern philosopher such as the Buddha. In western philosophy there is often a focus on the individual in the case of human nature. In eastern philosophy there are various interpretations of the idea of human nature and our existence. In buddhism the goal is to reach Nibbana, enlightenment. TO reach enlightenment one would, according to Buddhist belief, is to get rid of beliefs that stem from ourselves and reality. Meaning that to live is to suffer, it is not to say that the entirety of life is to suffer, but that suffering is a part of life. The second truth is the desire for what is liable to birth, impurity, decay, and death. All examples of suffering as a part of the normal course of life. This is how I spent many afternoons during the summer of 2014. That year, I traveled to a city called Cartagena in the South American country of Colombia. At this time, I had big plans of studying law and getting involved in politics. I was involved in a joint program between my undergraduate university and the University of Cartagena, which is where I was introduced to Professor Germán Ruiz. Professor Ruiz worked in the university s global and public policy office and I was offered an internship with him. I assumed I would be learning about Colombia s political system and policies but I was surprisingly mistaken. The first day of my internship was the day Professor Ruiz told me about Bonché. Bonché was a social project aimed at combating urban youth violence by using sports to help generate a sustained dialogue between rival street gangs. The project would engage youth gang members in certain outlets that would eventually lead toward open conversations between enemies in an effort to better their communities as a team. I had the opportunity to be involved in the beginning stages of this project. • 44. SDN Traffic Engineering Article Analysis This article discusses the best in class in traffic engineering for SDN with attention to four cores including flow management, fault tolerance, topology update, and traffic analysis. The challenging issues for SDN traffic engineering solutions are talked about in detail. SDN is a developing networking administration that isolates the network control plane from the data sending plane with the guarantee to significantly enhance organize asset usage, streamline network management, reduce working expenses, and promote development and advancement. For network performance optimization by dynamically analyzing, predicting, and regulating the behavior of the transmitted data, traffic engineering is an important subject. Over the last two decades ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In load balancing for the control plane SDN may cause the network controller to become a potential performance bottleneck, to overcome this controller load balancing schemes have been used. They are logically centralized and physically distributed controller, physically distributed controller, hierarchical controller, hybrid controller, multithread controllers and generalized controllers. The multithread controllers are developed to improve the request processing throughput. The parallelism architecture of servers is used to provide high throughput with scalability at the controllers in multithread multicore SDN controllers. The research challenges in flow management are dynamic load balancing scheme for the data plane and dynamic load balancing scheme for the control plane. Now coming to the second core i.e. fault tolerance: for ensuring the reliability of the network, SDN must be able to perform the failure recovery straight forwardly and effortlessly when a failure occurs in the network. Even though a switch could be used in such a failure, it has neither the insight nor the information to make new route. For this it has to depend on the controller. In this manner, we discuss the research efforts on fast failure recovery in SDN networks. For fault tolerance in the data plane we have two failure recovery mechanisms, which are restoration and protection. In restoration, the recovery path ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Description Of The Road Trip Road Trip It was the morning of July 5th, 2015. My alarm sounded off at around 4:30 AM telling me it was time to get ready and head out. I grabbed my duffle bag full of clothes, got in my truck, and headed to my girlfriend s house who lives five minutes away. I pulled into the driveway with excitement rushing through my body. She was standing there, all packed, wearing a Boston Red Sox hat. We had gone shopping the night before for food and drinks we thought we needed. We had a cooler full of ice and piled everything up in there and placed it in the trunk of our car along with our tent, blankets, and other miscellaneous items we were going to need. Multiple pillows lined the backseat, and a trashcan was placed on the floor to collect our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It wasn t long until we crossed the border into the Volunteer State, and the first big city we stopped in was Nashville. We parked in a garage and walked around for a couple hours, taking everything in. stores lined Main Street, filled with cowboy boots and souvenirs that could draw anybody s attention. Knowing that we were on a tight schedule, we bought a few souvenirs then were on our way to the last stop of the day. We know found ourselves in the boondocks of Lebanon, Tennessee. I turned onto the dirt road that led to the campground we would be staying at. After taking almost twenty minutes to set up our tent, we threw our air mattress inside and were forced to blow it up on our own, since the electric pump decided to short circuit. The humidity was so heavy that I nearly passed out because of it, but we both managed to make it through the night safely with only a few bug bites. We were on the road again in the morning heading to our next hotel in Arkansas. The landscape began to open up, and on either side I could see fields of corn span for miles. After hundreds of miles, we made it to our next spot and got some much needed sleep. The next day, we crossed over into Oklahoma. The landscape wasn t much different here, but this is where we met Route 66. We first visited the Route 66 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although similar circumstances applied to Harriet Green and her children, the individuals who owned them decided not to free them. Despite being free, Ben had little power to challenge their decision. In 1844, Ross married a free black man named John Tubman. Although little is known about their marriage, she adopted his last name. Any children they might have had would have been considered enslaved, because the mother s status dictated that of any offspring. Araminta changed her name to Harriet around the time of her marriage with John, it is believed she did this to honor her mother. In 1849, Harriet s owner came down with illness that ended in her death. In fear that she was going to be sold and her family was going to be torn part, Harriet Tubman decided to run away. She also feared for own her fate as an injured and sick slave of low economic value. She initially fled with two of her brothers, Ben and Henry, but they both changed their mind and returned to the planation after a notice was published in the Cambridge Democrat offering a $300 reward for the return of the runaway slaves. • 48. How Did Honey Affect Aboriginal Culture Regarded as a very important part of the aboriginal culture, bees have been used by aborigines for food, tools and trade for thousands of years. Honey held great values and was considered a sign of respect. This was shown when honey was given to tribal elders by the hunters. Honey was treated as a highly prized substance, giving as a gift or traded as a valuable product. If this valuable substance was not traded or gifted, aborigines would simply use it to sweeten foods. Referred to as Sugarbag by the aborigines, native honey contains a lot of resin from native trees such as the eucalyptus tree. Due to its value, honey was scavenged for and found in nests located in trees, stumps, rocky crevices and muddy river banks. In order for the aborigines to find native bee hives, hunters would catch foraging bees and attach small pieces of light weight materials such as pieces of feather, spider web or grass to the pollen sacs or resin that was being collected by the bees. ... Hives that were situated high in a tree were not disturbed by cutting down the tree, instead, the honey was gathered by carving foot holes into the tree. This allowed for the aboriginals to climb up to the hive. The contents of the hive would then be obtained and left to recover and rebuild, to be collected at a later date. Beeswax and resin were important for making weaponry. These bee by products were used to fasten pieces of stone to wood. This would be achieved by heating the wax until it became a malleable liquid and would then be poured over the two materials and left to dry. Once dried, the honey would harden acting as a strong glue to hold the material together to be used for hunting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Determination of the Calorific Value of Ethanol and Paraffin Determination of the Calorific Value of Fuels Aim: To quantify the amount of energy produced by different fuels and to determine which fuel is more efficient (has a higher calorific value). Introduction: The easiest way to achieve our aim is by heating a substance with a known specific heat capacity and using the energy released from burning our fuels. This will give us the value of the heat energy released by the combustion of our two fuels. The chemical reaction for combustion: FUEL + O2 Heat energy released CO2 + H2O It is the heat energy released that we are concerned with, the amount released in this reaction will provide us with the calorific value for each fuel. Materials ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... * Testing potential new fuels Oil companies looking for new fuel sources are interested only in efficient fuels now for three reasons 1. The more efficient the fuel the less we will use and the longer it will last. 2. The more energy we can get from only a small amount the higher the value of the fuel. 3. If you use less fuel less combustion occurs and so less toxins and carnbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere. Diet/Energy Intake * Calories in food the food industry is a huge worldwide industry and is part of everybody s life. For all those people wanting to lose weight they are looking for a large amount with a low calorific value, however athletes will be looking for small amounts of food with a high calorific value. It is a vital piece of information on the dieting and exercise industries.
